Nov 20th 2011 6:38PM Ok, rightly or wrongly...
Perception is reality.
The perception amongst the player base is that the Developers favor the Horde. Why?
Metzen and GC have both stated they love the story side of the horde. Thus you have two of the main influences on the game story arc admitting publicly the horde side is what they like. Without any mention or rebuttal by them on stuff Alliance side.
One axiom of storytelling.. do NOT let your own biases influence the plot, as you will favor what you prefer over getting a good story. It may be that the story-boarders for Blizzard are putting their biases aside.
However, the perception still reality when over and over again, those driving the story publicly admit they love the story side of the horde, and admit they consider the story Alliance side to be meh.

Aug 26th 2011 12:56PM full disclosure..
my favorite class to play now is hunter, and got some end game content done.
However, due to my suckage at movement heavy fights,
aka atramedes/beth when spiderlings spawn 180 deg apart/rhyo when lava flows erupt simultaneously on both sides of you..
I made surv the main spec I run as raid. It is less "sensitive" to the nuances of movement fights as marksman. I still keep MM in the pocket as a dual spec.
The whole two steady shots to keep the major buff up is a real dps killer for me.
One other item to mention. is someone is concerned about dps 1st, they are probably not as concerned about the fight mechnaics as they need to be.
Using Beth as an example.. does no good to blow up the dps charts on drones when spinners are still hanging in the air or when spiderlings are 2 feet from the drones.
Hope I am stating this correctly, but a decent player who works their arse off to know fight mechanics and apply the dps they can where it is needed.. is a lot more valuable than a leet-squid who blows their ink at the wrong target.. dies, and then bitches becuase the raid wipes.
Aug 5th 2011 12:34AM er... go east from Highbank and/or dragonmaw.
Willing to pay 23 copper for an edit button,
Aug 5th 2011 12:33AM great goodly moogly..
everyone is thinking a bit two dimensional/flat earth using a cartesian coordinate system.
Think spherical, Newtons 1st law, and the latest discussions plate tectonics.
Spherical - azeroth is round. yeah obvious, right.
The maelstrom marks the spot of the sundering. Now it is also where deathwing broke thru to the surface from deepholm.
Both of those were a lot of force and energy, particularly the sundering. A whole lotta force there. Per Newtons 1st Law, there should have been an equal force send inward, spreading thru the core of azeroth as well as bouncing off the underside of the crust of azeroth..
Latest tectonic theories say that those interior forces will be focused on a spot on the other side of the planet from the sundering.
Thus, a new continent called Pandaria was formed during the sundering, and brave azerothian adventurers have just stumbled acrose the place. if you need a location, go est from Highbank or dragonmaw castle in twilight highlands. it will be out there somewhere.
As for new class, my bet is on monks with the Panderans being the teachers. Nuetral like booty bay in a way.
No charge for the physics, geology, and astronomy lesson.
Jul 15th 2011 12:36AM I catch a lot of flak for this.. but I've leveled 4 huntners to 85, kept 2 and deleted 2. I am in the process of leveling 4 more hunters to 85, to go with the 2 maxed ones I have (worgen and troll are the maxxed ones).
Whether you use a plain old pc 101 key keyboard, a G13 gamepad, a razormouse or combination of all 3.. the point is to develop those instinctive keystrokes.
Me being an old-school sort, found one of the best ways to practice it by rote, to an extent. Thus the incessant leveling again, again, and again.. to practice , practice and practice the shot techniques against appropriate level bosses.
Oh, and one more item, probably the most important. The combat, kiting, and postional skills you learn in ragefire chasm, deadmines, shadofang keep, et.al. are all basic tools you will use over, over, and over again when fighting shannox, ryolith, baleroc, etc.
Jul 12th 2011 12:33PM On all my hunters I level, and there have been at least 6 so far..
One they hit level 20, I get the mount traning then ride as needed to get to ratchet, go up the hill, and tame Humar the Pridelord.
Every hunter I have has that black lion pet as a level 20.
May 29th 2011 6:06PM Question for the queue.
I did a Zul-gurub run full to end. All good as we downed all the bosses. However, on the toon I ran, I could not seem to get up to the platform where the lashtal raptor was with the quest-giver mark. On that toon, I had completed all the raptor quests in norththern STV. Please advise?
Apr 17th 2011 7:42PM chiming in..
1. Sylvanus is NOT sylvanus anymore. spolier alert - The banshee queen from WC3, vanilla wow, BC, WOLK.. was "changed" during a quest chain in current silverpine forest. Without spoiling too many details, the old sylvanus is dead and gone and replaced by.. something we know not what.. from those 3 valkyr.
2. Tin foil hat - combining thots from Midworld by Alean dean Foster and war of the worlds by HG Wells.. what can stop the scourge but the scourge? In other words, will all this experiemtnation that the Forskane have done lead to an accidental cure for the scourge, where they are not undead but living breathing alive with new forms? The wolrd may be cleansed of the scourge by the tiniest of azerith creatures, who have died a billions deaths to be resistant to such disease. So, the forsaken may disappear to be .. living again?
3. Prediction - There will be a 3rd faction in Wow. It will be the former forsaken, now living, led by the Windrunner bloodline. This faction will be nuetral generally, with freedom to align with horde or alliance, or none, based on what is needed.
4. Garrosh is as dead as those skellys in the Kodo graveyard in desolace. he doesn't know it yet. Glorious war heroe, maybe, but he better line up the food testers cuz someone gonna slip him a terminal mickey.
5. Varian will be around for awhile.
Comments as ye please.
Feb 18th 2011 11:32AM Favorite epic runs.. there are 2..
has to be appx patch 2.4 or so.. I had just started in the game. Was leveling a pally as Prot, and grouped with some friends to run deadmines.. as a level 18 prot pally tank.
Most of them were veteran players, just running new toons.
My gawd.. did I suck at tanking. Threat..? aggro..? just let me beat on it dammit, and I will show you aggro.
After about 8-12 wipes.. inclouding at least 4 in the goblin workshop and 2-3 in the foundray.. we got to Van cleef. Wiped a few times but finally beat Edwin and his boys. My 1st 5-man instance completion.
2nd.. fast forward month or so.. was level 36 or so. Grouped with a cpl of fine ffolkes along with some of same friends from aforementioend deadmines run. We ran scarlet monestary. Remember this was when 1st ground mounts were at level 40.
We all met at southshore then traveled as a grp, slow footing it the entire way to SM.
Epic pulls, doing the huntsman to get the key, then cautious pulling grps of 2 or 3 in the cathedral.. and BY GAWD kill the runners or we are dead.
Epic loot drops, vanilia blues, for everyone by the time we finished.
good times indeed.
Dec 19th 2010 1:38AM Paraphrasing a line from Midworld by Alan Dean Foster..
"What can stop the scourge but the scourge..?"
I see the time coming when the continued research by Sylvanus actually provides a cure for the Forsaken undead state.. as in they are not walking corpses, but actually fully alive again with the usual reproductive functions.
Lets face it, for all the demon knowledge and wicken-poo practicing by the Forsaken, they nor anyone on Azeroth understand the mysteries of the Universe and life, and how life finds a way .. Painfully, terribly at times, but life finds a way (thank you Jeff Goldblum)
What more subtle twist of fate couldd there be than for a new faction to join the game.. a nuetral faction, formed by those who were formerly "Forsaken", but are now alive and loving it?
In closing, would be ironic if a wee bacterium accidently included in the plague research batch number 8972.. were to actually restore full alive status baack to the forsaken.
