Mar 31st 2011 10:26AM Thanks for the comments guys ...
I guess what I'm griping about is (a) the abrupt ending and (b) the lack of pointers on where to go & what to do next. I guess all I have is repeated dailies, and perhaps skill up Archaeology.
@Skarn - I would have loved to have seen more quests from Garona. She's a significant lore character ... would've been nice to have a "Redemption of Garona" quest chain, I think. I think the questing element I really missed from the Vanilla days was the cross-continent slog ... It would've been great to have a quest that say started in Hyjal, took me to Silithus, then to STV, maybe a quick go "back in time to help defeat Archimonde" instance thrown in, etc. etc. ... WoW Vanilla felt epic because I had to travel and work hard for my quests!
Mar 30th 2011 1:42PM Question for the Queue:
I've followed your Cataclysm zone guides, faithfully stuck through quests to absorb all the lore. I went through all the zones, finishing Twilight Highlands for the end ... I just finished the Skullcrusher(?) quest, and was surprised to see there wasn't any follow up or hand off to another part of the zone, or handoff to an instance ... and now I don't have any more quests left. What should I do next? Keep running instances to get into Heroics? I don't want to hit the WoW burn-out like I did when I dinged 60/70/80!
Mar 14th 2011 5:49AM I'm a casual player, and I love the lore of the game. I look forward to these articles to round out my knowledge of the game. But it would be great if you could include the citations ... I have no idea where the information is coming from - is it raid quests that I never pick up? Is it from the comics? Or the books? At the very least, it would be better writing :)
Jul 27th 2010 1:38AM I *have* to know: Did you name your fox pet Baldrick??
Jun 24th 2010 3:17AM Apologies for the noobish comment/ question here ...
I haven't paid much attention to paladins in Wrath ... my very first toon in vanilla WoW was a ret paladin & I loved how the gear reflected the holy spellcaster/ melee DPS role. I hated the end-game "priest-in-plate" mentality which is why I never raided with him in TBC.
When I got round to playing my ret pally in Wrath, I was really saddened to see that he didn't need any spell casting gear ... it was really !@#$^*#$#%&*$# to have to roll against every DPS warrior & DK for the same gear. Is there any differentiation left? How do I tell if gear has been designed for paladins (apart from a class-specific tag)?
Nov 14th 2009 11:56AM It's not as cut-and-dried as some of the commenters and the post seem to make out - no disrespect meant, but people & their emotional reactions can be quite different from case to case. I went from raider in Vanilla Wow to extremely casual (
Aug 26th 2009 9:22AM Why is everyone talking about Lich King dying? Did I miss a Blizzcon tidbit? From a lore perspective, I would hope that he isn't killed, simply because he has been the franchise's driving force since WC3! Why can't he come back from the dead - as the article points out, Death is his domain!? We know that Nerzhul came back from the dead, in a way.
Also, we know Yoggy's behind the Lich King AND "an Old God(s)" behind Deathwing. Is an alliance between those parties inconceivable?
Aug 3rd 2009 11:49AM Why do people think it's too late? It's a large scale change to be sure. Pardon the use of the cliche, but Stormwind wasn't built in a day :-). The key is communication. Tell players that the rules are going to change. Repeat the message when they log in, use in-game mail, ask guild leaders to spread the word, etc. The problem is whether Blizzard might allow *free* realm transfers to those who voulnteer to move. On a DB level, I wouldn't think the change to be major ... How large is a character's file if you've got pointers to static DBs of items? Blizzard could give guilds a chance to say, "you know what, we can't play by new RP rules. Please move us en-masse to another server". They'd also have to work with soloists to offer them a chance to adjust to new rules or move elsewhere.
I would think Blizzard could end up consolidating RP servers when the dust settles, since the population per realm might come down significantly!
Like I said earlier - it's not going to be easy, but it can be done
