Shifting Perspectives: Restoration talents in 13066, part 2 {WoW}

Sep 29th 2010 8:18PM Not sure if this has been asked or answered before but with the ToL becoming a cool-down are they at least going to upgrade the model? It would be a small consolation to losing the form all the time if they at least gave us a better looking form. They could use the Ancient Protectors model and skin and it would be awesome.

As much as I love my current ToL form the model is looking very dated.

Funcom to reveal The Secret World at GDC '09 {Massively}

Mar 29th 2009 10:26PM I don't like to be a hater but I was extremely excited about this game until I realised FunCom was involved.

I will still keep an eye on it as a Cthulu mythos themed game still perks my interest but I will not build my hopes too much. I don't believe there is an inherent problem with FC games just that they rush to release instead of a little polish.

[Updated] Warlock soul-shard farming a thing of the past? {WoW}

Mar 1st 2009 9:24PM I agree that the soulbag should go the way of the quiver. Let soulshards stack with a cap of 50 or so. That way they'll take up just a single slot and encourage warlocks to use them more freely. At the moment it is more of a restrictive resource. Don't get rid of the mechanic of harvesting, storing and using Soulshards. Just streamline it.

Finding unfinished quests {WoW}

Mar 1st 2009 9:03PM A way of knowing which quests have been completed would be fantastic most notably for the quests such as the OOX beacon ones.

My wife and I have been trying to get them all for the robotic chicken non-combat pet and it is difficult to know whether the drop rate is very low or if we have already complete the quest way back when we were mid 40's.

I think I got lucky and found the ones that I hadn't done but my wife is still grinding the Hinterlands. We were never sure if the thing was ever going to drop but considering she has finished the other two and the OOX of your own quest is not available it must be still incomplete.

The point is having an easy way of telling which quests you have done would make things like this, and rep easier to achieve.

You may be a Love Fool after all {WoW}

Feb 25th 2009 11:35PM I agree - the fact that this event (and associated Brew of the month club reward) occurred before the achievement went live meant that I made no effort to get it.

Now if I want the Mount I am forced to wait for an extra arbitrary year for one part of a meta achievement.

I can (and am) working very hard to make sure I achieve every world event meta (despite having limited time to play)but it seems rediculous that I am going to have to wait it out for another 12 months.

They have removed achievements from the Meta for less. Maybe if they change it to simply being in the club?

The Queue: Extreme Edition {WoW}

Feb 19th 2009 9:55PM Is Ulduar going to have an associated rep faction similar to raids in vanilla WoW and TBC (eg. Scale of the Sands for CoT: MH)?

also,

How far is it going to go with Bind to Account Heirloom items? Can we expect to see fully geared up level 1's with beige items (or is it gold?) in every slot? Or will they stick to Shoulder items and weapons?

Shifting Perspectives: The dual-specced Druid part 2 {WoW}

Feb 18th 2009 5:23PM I was going to go Resto PvE/Restokin PvP but the thought of the Resto PvE/Resto Dreamstate combo intrigues me as my gear is not yet at a point where I am confident this OoFSR change will not really hamper me.

Great post and some things to ponder. I guess us druids really need Quad-specs (or more!)

Major Ulduar testing news: PTR soon, not all bosses available {WoW}

Feb 17th 2009 8:32PM I'd hardly agree that Illidan was ever a 'Good Guy'. He was always a power-hungry ego-maniac. He was jealous of his brother and turned to demonic magic to gain influence.

Yes he has helped the good guys on occasion but that was for his own reasons not out of any altruistic intent.

I guess that blizz likes going with the corrupted good-guy story progression because they believe in nuture over nature. Even their ultimate bad-guy Sargeras was good once. Maybe Yogg-Saron will be the change.

Will dual specs eliminate the tank or healer shortage? {WoW}

Feb 17th 2009 7:06PM The trouble with playing a healer or a tank is the visibilty you have in the group. Unless you are playing with someone who loves constantly posting the damage meters it is easier for a DPS player to hide in the crowd. As long as they aren't doing something really stupid like constantly pulling agro or breaking CC.

As a tank your ability or lack there of is constantly on show - if you are learning to tank after leveling as dps you have to learn very quick or develop a thick skin as any mistake is quite often brutally pointed out.

The same is true for healing, if you are not on your game it shows very quickly unless you outgear or outlevel the situation.

My guess is it's the nature and pressure of the role that is stopping people from tanking and healing not the other factors. Initially we may see more healers/tanks but as people struggle to play and enjoy these roles it will drop back to current levels and people will use the dual-spec system to switch between two dps specs.

It is a difficult thing to change as I see the main problem being the attitudes of the players as a whole rather than the mechanics of the game. I rememeber when I was first learning to tank and heal instances (not both at the same time obviously). There were times when I was ready to throw it all in after I got blamed for a wipe and it was pointed out in very blunt terms that I fail or I should l2p (I thought I was trying too.)

Maybe Blizz could introduce some class specific quests where it simulates grouping (with npcs) so that players can learn basic tanking and healing skills withoutbeing subjected to the often brutal criticisms of real groups.
