Breakfast Topic: How do you adapt WoW for younger players? {WoW}

Nov 22nd 2011 5:16PM My son has been playing WOW since he was 9. He's 11 now and tanking Fireland bosses. It's a great activity that we can do together even when i'm on the road. He's also learning social responsibility (he IS a tank). Over great experience.

Arcane Brilliance: A preliminary look at the Pandaria talent tree for mages {WoW}

Oct 30th 2011 1:39AM Note that going gaga over Ice Barrier vs Mana Shield is not warranted.
Mana Shield has no cost to cast, but wastes 1 mana per damage, once very 12 seconds.
It will absorb 9582 damage a minute for 9582 mana + knockback.
Ice Barrier will absorb 7960 damage a minute for 6720 mana + no interruptions.

The no interruption part in a raid environment right now is negligible (as it is close to 100%) we will have to wait and see what actually makes it into the basic mage build from the erstwhile fire tree.

Lastly the mana shield requires 6 GCD's vs Ice Barrier's 1. This is the one BIG advantage that I see DPS wise.

One could say that you absorb more damage for less mana with Ice Barrier. Note, however that you pay the price up front - which means an immediate reduction in damage in every scenario except pull countdown. The mana shield drain is continuous throuout the fight.

Blood Sport: 5 frustrations of PVP and how to overcome them {WoW}

Oct 19th 2011 4:07PM Just wanted to point out that PVP is NOT a zero sum game.
Even if you lose, unless you really, really suck, you get reputation points (e.g., WsG),
You get honor points, you get conquest points....

Not a zero sum game....

Breakfast Topic: What skills would you like to see in WoW? {WoW}

Breakfast Topic: What spell, skill, or talent do you miss? {WoW}

Aug 17th 2011 1:34PM Interesting to note that no mage has spoken up yet. Seems like we are not missing any of our old spells/talents...

Addon Spotlight: A very mailbag episode {WoW}

Aug 11th 2011 5:00PM Looking at VanasKoS reminded me of an addon I've been seeking for a long time:

People are jerks, they can be rude, liers, warlocks, ninjas, a*al [Chat Trolls] etc. I'm looking for an addon which will allow me track these jerks and assign a note to their name that will appear on the player pop up and/or ignore list that will remind me why I hate them...

Anyone?

Breakfast Topic: Do your kids play WoW with you? {WoW}

Apr 23rd 2011 10:36PM True story this:
I live in the US and my son, who is coming on 10 in a month, lives in another country with my ex.
Two years ago I set him up with a WOW account.

We now play together almost every day. He has a bunch of characters but his main is a Warrior Tank, at 85 with some raiding experience. I have an endgame mage and priest so we often play together where I heal him.

As part of this experience he actually learned English as well, as this is the de-facto WOW language...

WOW has been an irreplaceable bonding experience for us.

Arcane Brilliance: Professions for Cataclysm mages {WoW}

Jan 9th 2011 10:53PM YES, SOB, I ADMIT IT...

I'm a LW mage, and I skin.

I started as a silly noob that needed money and saw "Skinnable" on stuff I killed, so....
But now I have SO MANY recipes, rare ones included, that I just can't bare to drop it.

I wish Blizzard would let me TRANSFER my professions to another character.... I'd pay a hefty sum to do so, and perhaps turn my ROGUE into a LW... lol

Spiritual Guidance: Discipline priest 101, page 3 {WoW}

Dec 21st 2010 3:08AM In the enchants section you've missed the int enchant on bracers that leatherworkers get.
