Totem Talk: Gearing an enhancement shaman in Cataclysm heroics {WoW}

Dec 26th 2010 4:15AM As for Heroic DM, cookie's tenderizer is a str mace with hit/mast. The secondary stats are VERY nice for us, much better than windslicer, and the mace is 2.8 speed which makes it a contender for one of our top OH's due to lava lash. This is the slowest 1h weapon at lvl 85, even epics are still 2.6. The tradeoff of str for agi is probably overcome by the slow speed and superior sub stats and may not be replaced till t12 depending on how the sims work out.

Also remember LL is fire dmg so it grows larger due to mastery and at certain combinations of gear, mastery nears agi in value.

The Care and Feeding of Warriors: Trial of the Champion Loot {WoW}

Aug 16th 2009 12:26PM whoops, I made a slight mistake. Used 2.4 weapon speed instead of 2.6. That bumps the threshold to ~3660 AP, before deep wounds, incite, or SnB. Also, in regards to HS, the bonus on HS is only 259, so switching from a 1.6 speed weapon to a 2.6 speeder, is only a loss in about 62.3 tps. This is easily made up with the increase in deep wounds damage from critting more via dev, and having a higher speed weapon. So even then, slow MH is a very viable threat option.

Aug 16th 2009 12:09PM Actually, you're wrong. Before around 3527 AP, you will get more avg threat from devastate than CB, and shockwave. It's like MS and BT, the AP based ability will only outstrip the weapon based one, at certain lvls of AP which increases as the Weapon increases. In this case it's somewhere more than 3527 AP, since that number only accounts for Dev's 35% more crit (with t8 2set), it doesn't account for deep wounds, incite, or SnB procs. So Devastate is far from our lowest threat ability, I'd say until you hit about mid 4k AP range, it'd be safe to just use Dev, revenge, and SS, at least with that mace.

How about you do some actual math and think before you bash on someone.

Solution sought for Heroic Strike/Maul {WoW}

Jul 24th 2009 5:01PM To all you DK's out there, Rune strike is not the same as Heroic strike because of oppurtunity cost. You're main abilities use runes, it's the reason you have a set rotation. You will always have the abliity to use the core of your rotation. Rune striking too much won't prevent you from using those basic abilities. Of the abilities that use Runic power, Rune strike is the one that deals the most threat per runic power, of all abilities to use your RP on, Rune strike is the best, so spamming it doesn't detract from anything, except maybe your ability to use defensive CD's. Also, RS won't neccesarily kill your RP because you're still using rune abilities and it's only after parry/dodge so you don't use it EVERY time.

On the other hand, warriors need rage for everything AND HS. Plus, HS means we don't generate rage from weapon swings. Add in a dodge/parry streak, and suddenly we can't use our highest rage abilities. Furthermore, on phases w/o boss damage, like XT's heart, or on Archavon where's he's shooting or charging a raid member, you don't gain any rage if you spam HS and lose it instead. HS is very low on the threat list, it deals less threat than devasate+white while taking MUCH more rage.

In short, spamming HS without control means overall less tps b/c the RNG makes you rage starved even on a patchwork fight while spamming RS means high and efficient tps and is wanted. Good warriors shouldn't macro HS too much because it makes us unable to react to low rage situations, esp since with a 1.5 speed weapon it means burning about 20-30 rage every GCD AND missing out on weapon rage (assuming 600 damage hit, that'd be about 8 on reg hit or 16 rage on crit.

May 17th 2009 6:29PM That and sometimes you learn better with people your own skill level, it's fine grouping with vets and experts every now and then, but you can't always learn unless you make mistakes that someone else can't cover up for or see others make.

May 5th 2009 2:34PM Yea fury warriors are like that, you're dps hurts until you reach that magic point, the point where you can generate enough rage with your off hand to HS spam nonstop and still use Slam, BT, WW and every other thing you need. Then suddenly boom your dps skyrockets, the extra miss rate on your MH due to DWing disappears completely and you get bonus damage every hit. But until then, GL.
