Sep 5th 2009 12:05AM What gets me about the whole "Noble" Horde thing that Blizzard claim to be have been creating since vanilla is that they haven't given much indication of it in game in large areas. Granted in Kalimdor the Horde is just responding to Alliance aggression into the lands they've made their own (apart from Ashenvale but we'll give them a pass on that one) but have you seen the Forsaken? Quests like "Go torture this puppy because.....well its there" and killing farmers and villagers cause you've decided that you just can't tolerate them living. If the Horde are so noble and trying to turn over a new leaf and all, how can they tolerate members of their faction doing stuff like that? And yes, yes, it was all Varimathras's doing. Whatever. Does Thrall not think it odd that all this real estate in Hillsbrad has suddenly become available and that there's a lot of shallow graves about?
And yes, I am slightly bitter that the bias seems to be having the Horde winning in Cataclysm. Say what you like about Alliance prejudice against the Horde in game, but at least their hatred is justified. Azeroth was the innocent bystander in the Burning Legion's plans with the orcs after all. As the folk have said above: Varian Wrynn, douche, but a justified douche. Whats Garrosh's excuse?
Jul 26th 2009 10:21AM Except the Alliance is just an extension of the Human/High Elf loose alliance that has been in existence since there was only one Human nation in the form of Stromgarde. So yeah, we were here first :P
And if you wanna get REALLY pedantic, the Horde as it is has only been in existence since WC3, before then it was just the orcs getting uppity and sticking their noses where they weren't wanted. They were a Horde of one race (ok, ogres too but do they count?).
As for the actual topic, I'd love Jaina Proudmoore to do a bit more than stand there and stop folk fighting. New leader of the Alliance plix, given she's actually smart enough to realise the Horde aren't what they were unlike the overly angry loser called Wrynn. Or maybe Tyrande Whisperwind getting an in game role that reflects her position in the Lore rather than semi-forgotten questgiver in the Temple of Moon.
What I think is probably more likely is Malfurion coming back to town to kick Fandral's arse about for everything he's been doing (just what does he need all that Morrowgrain for?) and maybe purifying Teldrassil
Sorry for all the text
Jul 11th 2009 5:24AM "Choose. Choose the form of the Destructor!"
Judging by the description of the fight, it makes sense that they don't have the old abilities. It sounds like its something else, taking on the form of an old memory it thinks will terrify, in an attempt at a spot of psychological warfare.
Jun 16th 2009 6:56PM About the whole Forsaken thing, I played through their starting areas and couldn't get over just how...evil it all is. Most of the quests outside Tirisfal (Hillsbrad in particular, I'm looking at you) seemed to be pointlessly malevolent. I can understand they've undergone large psychological scars and all, but most of the tarren Mill chains revolve around "See them harmless farmers? Go make their life hell then butcher them. Oh and their doggie too. They piss me off, trying to live in homes they've been in forever, that'll learn 'em" I know some of the quests are ones outwith Sylvanas's sanction in game, and are probably more of Mal'Ganis' direction but seriously, add the Banshee Queen to the clueless list. The stuff in Tirisfal seemed fair game (beyond the New Plague stuff), cause then they're on the defensive, trying to carve out a life against the depredations of the Scarlet Crusade, but as time goes on they just seem more and more spiteful! Cannibalism seems kind of...minor compared to it all.
And on a side note, if you want to learn about the Sundering, persist through the War of the Ancients trilogy of books, probably the best description of it you'll find.
Jun 12th 2009 12:49PM Quick question, I'm assuming the Proudmoore in question is the American server and not the German speaking one in Europe? Would love to roll a Hordie and come along but I'm guessing that ain't an option with my EU account :(
Either way, kudos to you all and hope it goes down a storm, as an LGBT player I consider myself very lucky to have a great Guild that I'm openly out to (Kindred Spirits on Argent Dawn, they're awesome folks) and they have zero problem with it, but I have seen a lot of abusive stuff roll by in Trade that you either grin and bear, or call them on it and get a massive amount of abuse yourself. Anything that makes people stop and think about the people behind the toons can only be a good thing.
Jun 11th 2009 3:54AM I'm really struggling to grasp why folk have a problem with this. I've been in WoW since early days of vanilla, I struggled at 60 to scrimp and save to get enough for the epic land, then in TBC I did the same to get my main and three alts epic flying and so on. Now though, I've got alts I'm levelling up and the thought that instead of running from mobs, to town, to mobs, to town, to wherever, they'll have access to mounts to speed things up? (not do the stuff for you, just reduce the time to do it) Where's the bad? 1-60 was never hard, it just took 16 days. That'd be a hideous time to get to the good stuff now so why shouldn't Blizzard make it quicker for us? It lets old players have fun with alts with less drudgery and it lets new players get to the stuff everyone else is doing faster.
If they built a funicular railway up Everest would it denigrate the achievement of Hillary et al? No. You did it the hard way, accept that you achieved something at the time when it meant something, but those that follow will have an easier time. It doesn't lessen what you did in any way
Jun 8th 2009 3:48AM Maybe she's talking about Arthas? If the two of them are at war then it'd make sense that Yogg attempts to diverts us away from him into focusing our efforts into the LK rather than himself as a last ditch effort to save himself from the gatecrashing ne'er-do-wells that have just burst into his lounge after slaughtering his friends
May 7th 2009 5:12AM You say that, but it has potential.......
Arthas appears if its negative, Dornaa if its positive, and its shaped like a wand
May 1st 2009 8:48PM this is not, the greatest power ranger in the world, this is just a tribute......
