Blizzard's responses on the Real ID situation {WoW}

Jul 7th 2010 11:19AM "The forums have problems because there are customers who are upset with the game, and those customers are sometimes younger and see no need to moderate their anger when typing out messages. Other people posting messages are “trolls” who find entertainment by harassing other customers or just posting generally malicious messages.

Blizzard is using RealID to attempt to control the conduct of those two groups on the forums. The company hopes to control the posts of angry customers through an awareness that the post may come back to “haunt” the customer later. The trolls are people who obviously seek entertainment through malicious communication. These trolls – even without posting a single message to expose their own names – would readily have access to my name, and be able to have a bit of fun at my expense without any risk to themselves."

This is the most salient point i've read about the backwards way this is being handled.

At what expense a nicer _looking_ forum?

Patch 3.3.3 PTR: Random Dungeon Finder changes {WoW}

Feb 20th 2010 6:38PM Unless it comsumes/requires the 5th person's summon. Which i think it probably will.

Patch 3.3.3 PTR: Random Dungeon Finder changes {WoW}

Feb 20th 2010 1:54PM "To answer, you will still be able to go in manually and with 3 people if you want, you now simply have an extra option if you can't find anyone to go with you. And of course, if you do it the old-fashioned way, you won't be able to teleport in and out of the place."

"Yes, the Dungeon Finder must be used. The interface will have a separate selection for special World Event bosses in dungeons. If players zone into the dungeon without using the Dungeon Finder, the bosses will not be there"

Which sucks for the group I've been running with this holiday. We've been routinely 4 manning it. Stupid, stupid change.

Patch 3.3.3 PTR: Frozo the Renowned takes your Frozen Orbs {WoW}

Feb 20th 2010 1:46PM You don't have to wager or even surmise as to the orb cost of frost lotuses. It was laid out explicitly in the forum post that the cost of one frost lotus is one frozen orb.

And it's not hard either to figure out the root of the bug where it is seling for 3g20s. Frost lotuses occasionally show up on the Darkmoon Faire vendor. The cost at neutral is 4g. Now take that same 4g and apply the exalted discount for Kirin Tor and you get -- you guessed it -- 3g20s.

Penny Arcade: The (WoW) Appocalypse {WoW}

Feb 5th 2010 7:26PM Wondering why this was ever posted. If I wanted to read something stupid and unfunny, I would go to Penny Arcade's terrible site myself.

Disenchanting in dungeons in patch 3.3 {WoW}

Oct 30th 2009 9:15PM Wrong! DE and Greed are equal in priority under this system. all the de and greed rolls are rolled and if the highest is a greed, greed takes it, if the highest is DE, then it gets DEed automagically without the DEer's consent or compensation.

Disenchanting in dungeons in patch 3.3 {WoW}

Oct 29th 2009 1:28AM 1. What other profession has a gigantic gold sink like the enchanting rod on top of having to spend gold to level it? Look at the mats you have to spend to to get the final one.:

2 Titanium Ore
4 Saronite Ore
40 Infinite Dust
12 Greater Eternal Essence
8 Dream Shard
8 Eternium Ore
14 Greater Planar Essence
6 Arcane Dust
20 Adamantite Ore
8 Large Prismatic Shards
1 Primal Earth
1 Primal Water
1 Primal Air
1 Primal Fire
1 Primal Mana
12 Fel Iron Ore
8 Greater Eternal Essence
8 Large Brilliant Shard
4 Dense Stone
3 Arcane Crystal
3 Thorium Ore
1 Golden Pearl
10 Illusion Dust
1 Truesilver Ore
3 Heavy Stone
1 Black Pearl
2 Greater Mystic Essence
2 Vision Dust
1 Gold Ore
4 Coarse Stone
1 Iridescent Pearl
2 Greater Astral Essence
2 Soul Dust
1 Silver Ore
4 Rough Stone
7 Strange Dust
10 Lesser Magic Essence
1 Copper Rod

2. Skinning and herbing are easy to level because you level as you gather. Enchating(disenchanting Wrath epics requires enchanting of 375 and requires everything from the copper rod up to the admantium ore) you have to enchant and build a new rod every few levels. However, only an enchanter is supposed, and now obligated, to share the fruits of their labour for free. Seriously, next time i run an instance and a skinner or herbalist walks past a corpse or node I'm going to ask if they'll skin/herb it and pass the result to me. If they weren't going to bother grabbing it they should have no qualms gathering and passing to me as an enchanter would do for their drops.
