Apr 3rd 2012 10:41AM I'm with you madeofrain. I played WoW from Vanilla into Cata. But I unsubscribed a year ago, and since then I keep coming back to this site looking for a reason to return, but I can't find one. Other games are too much fun to return to farming/crafting/grinding/archeaology/7 year old char models.
I'll still continue checking in to see if something new catches my eye though. If the price isn't too high, I might get MoP just to experience the new race/class and level up in Pandaria.
Oct 26th 2011 9:42AM For the Horde.
It is simple, catchy, inspiring, and does not get old. Also, it does not say anything more than it needs to.
A lot of the alliance slogans posed above sound like paladin or maybe warrior cheers. My mage is too cerebral to care much about justice, honor, valor, etc. And unity is not really at the forefront of a rogues' philosophy I don't think. My favorite is definitely the dude abides. Justice by blood? Sounds kind of like Arthas after he went crazy.
Oct 26th 2011 9:19AM Garrosh and Varian are boring and make me roll my eyes whenever they are in the game. Thrall is fine, but he's so predictable, that I don't know why people like him so much. Now Sylvanus is interesting. What is she up to?
I would like a faction leader that can weave in a little levity. This game is all about staving off the destruction of life as we know it, but they are constantly putting humor into the game. Why not do the same for our faction leaders? Instead, they are like "KILL THEM ALL GOGOGO WE ARE STRONG THEY ARE WEAK." These are the kind of people we kick out of PuGs without regret, why do we have to put up with them as faction leaders?
Also, I don't read WoW novels or summaries of said novels. I still don't know what was going on at the beginning of cataclysm with all the changes in the faction leadership. That kind of stuff should be explained in the game, or else players like me will never get it.
Mar 30th 2011 3:05PM Literally jumping off would be fine. I can cast Slow Fall. If that fails (like I screwed up my key binding), then I just cast Blink right before I hit the ground. If I were an engineer I could cast Parachute. Also, we already have the option of dismounting from our regular mounts midair, so this would just be an extension of that. Pre Cata, they had good reason not to allow this since you could access places that you weren't supposed to be, but now these places are all accessible via flying mount. So why not?
Mar 21st 2011 9:32AM You are taking this comment too seriously Marla. It is not really intended as a joke, but it is also not intended to be taken seriously. He is just indicating a good natured spirit of friendly competition. Not the kind where they post meters and threaten to kick the players who didn't get big enough numbers, but rather the kind where they kill the boss and then josh each other about how it went afterward. Judging from your comments, you might want to look up the definition of joshing. From the fact that they have been racking up world firsts for a while now, I would infer that they are a fairly cohesive team and that making digs at each other for not posting enough dps or healing throughput is not what they do.
One other thing you might have missed-- When he admits to whining about non-paladins topping the heal meter, he is actually making fun of himself a little bit. He is not actually expressing his true desire or belief that paladins should always top the healing meter.
Perhaps you should get some sleep, stay out of the trade channel for a few days. When you have fresh eyes, read the interview again and you will see that there is no snark, sarcasm or mean spirit in it anywhere.
Mar 20th 2011 9:05PM It is a bit confusing because crit works against the mastery bonus while haste is neutral to it. Here are the reasons I think haste is good though. First of all, arcane does higher damage when AB is stacked, so haste lets you stack it faster. Second, haste rating gives you a larger percentage gain of haste than crit rating gives you crit percentage. At least I assume this is true because it was true in BC and in Wrath, but I haven't checked the numbers in Cata. Finally, and this is the real reason I stack haste and mastery and avoid crit... Rawr tells me to.
My wish for arcane is that we get a new graphic for Arcane Blast.
Mar 20th 2011 8:59PM Actually, it is an option. Hit escape and then look around in those menus and you will find it.
Mar 8th 2011 12:58PM What's wrong with a cloth-wearing caster tank? Personally I think it sounds cool, though the above poster who noted that it has not been in the lore previously is probably right that it is not going to happen. Also, I'm not sure how you could spec this in three different, yet interesting ways. It seems like it might work better as a separate spec for an existing class.
Here's an idea that will never happen but sounds kinda cool. Make it so there are no pure dps classes either by giving each class a 4th spec, or by reworking existing specs. Do we need destro 'locks? They are mages whose spells are a different color. Instead make a healing spec for 'locks where in exchange for a heal, they take a small part of your soul (perhaps a weak stacking dot that will kill you if the fight takes too long) . The devs have never made frost mages competitive in PvE so make that a tank class. Combat rogues could do evasion-style tanking. And hunters..... well we could turn BM into a tanking spec with the pet doing the tanking.
This would fix the dungeon queue times!
Mar 3rd 2011 4:22PM I believe rogues should get this because they are supposed to be the masters of stealth. Consider this, the mage spell Invisibility has been buffed so much from its original version that an invisible mage is far more stealthy than a rogue has ever been. The cast and effect are instant (like a rogue's vanish). But with a glyph we actually run faster than our usual run speed. Add to that the fact that we cannot be detected by mobs except for the "sniffers". Any other mob I can dance around and run right through without breaking invis. It lasts 20 seconds, so you can go a long way considering the buff to your run speed.
In summary, this is just giving rogues access to what mages already have, and making them the masters of stealth in every way.
Mar 1st 2011 9:18AM I've been reading since some time in BC. My favorite class columnists are Christian Belt (mage) and Chase Christian (rogue). They have very different approaches to their columns, but they are both great to read. My main was already a mage, but I credit the rogue class column here for my choice of playing a rogue as my "main" alt.
