Arcane Brilliance: Guide to leveling a mage in Cataclysm {WoW}

Dec 17th 2011 11:00PM Just an FYI: BM Hunter is no longer the fastest spec, MM hunter is. AiS can almost one-shot any normal mob from 1-60

The Care and Feeding of Warriors: Proc weapons and the future of itemization {WoW}

Dec 17th 2011 10:16PM Years ago, I would have been on the opposite side of the proc vs stats debate: I love procs! I did then and I still do. Given the choice between something that'll give me X Strength or a chance to lop off someone's head and I'll take the head.

Breakfast Topic: Would the Raid Finder difficulty approach work for 5-man instances? {WoW}

Dec 17th 2011 5:59PM Or they can change how CCs work. Why can't we Hibernate humanoids? My buddy goes into hibernation every Thanksgiving!

To every problem there is more than one solution. They don't have to design fights that require CCing dragonkin. If they want to, they could give this particular dragonkin a debuff that makes them susceptible to more types of CC. Or they could make these dragonkin deal less damage when more than one is attacking the same target.

Of all the reasons you could choose to say "this can't happen," CC is the least viable. Most boss adds cannot be subjected to hard CC like Polymorph and Hibernate. Trash is a minor detail that can be dealt with in any number of ways.

Breakfast Topic: Would the Raid Finder difficulty approach work for 5-man instances? {WoW}

Dec 17th 2011 11:32AM Except that on the LFD difficulty, CCing dragonkin would likely be optional. None of the new Twilight Dungeons and none of the LFR fights or trash require CC. I can't imagine why--if they went with a system like the proposed--they'd require CC on the LFD. Would CC make it easier? Yea, it pretty much always does. But it'd be optional, so that if you have it, great. If not, it's not a big loss.

Breakfast Topic: Has the time come for Outland story updates? {WoW}

Dec 16th 2011 8:51AM Aye! I've powered Silvermoon's defenses up enough times that even a Light-Eating Z'gru would have a hard time draining them fully!

Blue Posts and Other WoW News {WoW}

Dec 16th 2011 8:48AM I must confess that that is the first 'arrow to the knee' joke that I've laughed at in a long time.

5 ways to improve the Raid Finder {WoW}

Dec 15th 2011 10:10PM The debuff does not apply after a boss has been killed and only applies sometimes after a wipe. I know that I've dropped right after bosses have gone down (because I was running out of time) and didn't get the debuff. Likewise, I've dropped at a wipe when the tanks have no tank gear and dropped before I finished my second Aimed Shot. Still no debuff.

Dec 15th 2011 12:07PM You know how moronic it is to say that PvP gear is bad for PvE when it has all of the same stats as PvE gear in smaller quantities plus an extra worthless one? The new crafted gear is plenty good enough to do dungeons in. If someone kicks you for being in PvP gear they are either misinformed or just dicks.

The difference between PvE gear in PvP and PvP gear in PvE is that wearing all PvE gear in PvP means that you'll die in 2 seconds and contribute absolutely nothing, while wearing PvP gear in PvE means that you'll probably contribute less than someone with the same iLvl but can still do decent damage/healing (not tanking, if you're trying to tank you need PvE gear).

Dec 14th 2011 10:18PM Q for the Q:

While I was logged in today I saw messages stating that the Instance Server would be restarted. The group I was with in HoO was horrible, so I used the fact that the server would be going down in 5 minutes to leave. Back on my realm, I saw that it would be restarting in 15 minutes. Any clues as to why this happened? Is it related to the B.Net emergency maintenance?
