World of Warcraft reaches 12 million players {WoW}

Oct 8th 2010 2:22PM @Bossy

"Actually Blizzard publishes their financial results EVERY 3 months in an official AUDITED report and supported with several independant banks and authorities.

They do it together with Activision, but Blizzard's results are published seperatly.

You can also find these results on the Activision quaterly financial pages on their website and find the FULL transcripted text of these meetings on line:

example of 2009 last quarter:"
http://seekingalpha.com/article/187939-activision-blizzard-inc-q4-2009-earnings-call-transcript.

So in fact these subscriptions are backed up by LEGAL and audited financial reports for the stock holders.

Meaning around 1.25 billion dollars worth of revenue for 2009 and an expected revenue of more than ... 1.4 billion for this year (Blizzard group alone).

So there is "your proof""

I openly question blizzard and i dont trust them anymore than anyone else should. And whats laughable is that you gave the link to a conference call that Blizzard themselves simply told the same story here.

"So in fact these subscriptions are backed up by LEGAL and audited financial reports for the stock holders."

So was Enron, Worldcom, Bear Stern, AIG Lehman Bros. and half of those guys were , oh my heavens to betsy, banks themselves

So ya you were saying backed up by "LEGAL" reports? As if Activision would never stoop so low as to be dishonest or anything

"Man you are a negative person.

Have you kicked your quota of kittens today?"

What you call negative i call skeptical, what you call positive i call naive.

"As Activision is a listed company - putting out a false press release that directly affects the view of the future performance of the company is a big no-no."

You mean all companies are upfront honest and transparent, Shocking shocking i say. Then i guess the whole mess with Companies on Wall Street never happened.

thanks for your.....shall we call it insight?

World of Warcraft reaches 12 million players {WoW}

Oct 8th 2010 2:12PM Since people felt the need to back out my skepticism of Blizzard ill repost mt original post

Frankly i call BS, i don't think Blizzard has anywhere near that amount.

Who we are supposed to trust? Blizzard when they say this? WoW Insider's "reporting"

Please, Blizzard will say anything they like to make themselves look good and WoW Insider who seem utterly incapable of forming an intelligent probing question

And then there are comments like this from WoW Insider

"Otherwise, know that Blizzard has pretty strict accounting practices"

Excuse Mr Holisky, are you in fact an accountant? Did Blizzard in fact open their actual books to you to show the bottom line numbers of people actually playing. Or did you simply take a 'blue' response as 'holy scripture'. Forgive me for being skeptical by having you simply taking some companies word for it isn't exactly the most reliable way of getting facts

Captain's Log: Ask Cryptic raises questions about STO's future {Massively}

Oct 8th 2010 2:10PM I couldn't agree more

From the moment that i heard that they would have micro trans-actions i knew this game was essentially over before it began. And with the reviews of gameplay, the utter shallowness of content, the total and complete lack of effort in building the heart of the game Stahl seems more and more like the talking head of STO.

Stahl and company have ruined a Star Trek Game franchise, their incompetence in handling a Star Trek IP is stunning. A complete lack of honesty, transparency and forethought have characterized both his and the companies actions towards this game.

Not that Massively has done any better, of all the articles i have ever read only one actually touched on a controversial subject which was of interest to the players of STO and this was the C-Store. Outside of that it has basically one long uninformative cheerleading parade from the writers at Massively.

It makes one wonder just how difficult for Mr Greene, or any of the other writers at Massively to pick up a phone and actually, and hold onto your pants - call Mr Stahl - and actually have an interview and ask him some question about the problems with this game.

The actions of Stahl is pathetic, but really Massively is no better.

Cryptic answers the 29 most pressing STO questions {Massively}

Oct 5th 2010 5:24PM Just more fanboy stuff from the Tall Foreheads at Massively (et-al). Considering the number of actual players who make comments here on the flaws of this game it's becoming more and more clear that the Jokers at Massively have absolutely no intention of of actually asking any questions of any of any meaningful nature

Here's some classic examples of non-answers

"Dstahl: This is on our radar"
"here is no immediate quick fix for this"
"reviewing our philosophy"
"We still have a vision for allowing Fleets to queue into Fleet Actions"
"Within the next year we hope"
"but over time we hope"
"I’m hopeful that we’ll be able to"
"It is still TBD"

The whole thing can be summed up by this

"Why is it that whenever there is an ask cryptic that folks only answer cherry picked questions that have been answered already in other interviews or forum posts or otherwise just give vague "soon" and "i'd like to see this" answers? The good tough questions always get skipped over or are never truly answered."

The Light and How to Swing It: Cataclysm heroics from a holy paladin's perspective {WoW}

Oct 4th 2010 9:26AM It never ceases to amaze me how WoW-insider blow sunshine up Blizz's aperture.

Paladin's , long serving holy paladins have been pointing out that in Bet they have been going OOM on a regular basis FoL is useless, SS is gone Beacon done. Holy Paladins have been nerfed because once again Blizzard couldn't find a way to make things "New" without dropping the responsibility on healers

Typical WoW-insider they have got the integrity to actually post an article that has an honest critique of Cataclysm

Cataclysm rewards low-level faction loyalty with cloaks, bags {WoW}

Oct 3rd 2010 11:26AM Lame

Blizzard basically just spinning its wheels

Who give's a rat's about a single 16 slot bag or a blue cloak at 35? By the time you hit exalted you're going to be long past level 35

Why is it exactly that almost no matter what Blizzard does it seems like WoWinsider is always ready to suck up to Blizzard by telling them how fantastic they are without ever have a real discussion on the many faults that blizzard does have.

The Daily Grind: Will Incarna get you to try EVE? {Massively}

Sep 27th 2010 3:56PM Eve itself sounds fascinating and i love reading about.

That being said.The chances of me playing are nearly zero.

I'm all for player created content and i even like the sandbox design, Eve's greatest strength however in my view is also its greatest weakness, the human factor. And although it's great to read about all the things that you can do in EVE I'm also highly aware that people are , bottom line, animals and from what I've also read that the very worst in human characteristics come out in that game.

People often complain about he type of people in WoW, and justifiably so. At the end of the day they are mostly harmless. But don't be surprised that the very same people also play EVE. The only difference is that in EVE they can actually make your game worse actively as opposed to simply spamming trade chat

That is the nature of people and EVE simply brings out the very worst in people, for me personally i get enough of two faced people in real life, something that i have to deal with every day. Im not in a big hurry to pay a subscription fee to have people do the same thing to me in game that people do in the real world
