Dec 29th 2011 11:39AM BC heroics were harder for several reasons.
1. The non-heroic version of the level 70 instances were plenty hard. I remember hours of wipes in normal Shadow Lab to the trash before the second boss as well as the third boss that needed to be kited. The first time I stepped into Steamvaults at level 70, we didn't even make it to the first boss. Scaling these up to heroic mode was insane.
2. We had less tools back then for CC. Hunter traps had a very high risk of getting resisted halfway, sheeping wasn't as reliable.
3. Trash hit very, very hard. I went back at level 80 to solo some BC heroics. The melee mobs still hit you like you were made of paper. On normal mode, they hit a lot softer. Combine this with (2), and you have a lot of deaths when cc is broken.
None of these are very good reasons why heroics should be as difficult as they were in BC. Having heatbeat resists to your cc is not fun, esp if your cc has a cd. Getting potentially one-shot by mobs makes the run more exciting, but it also gets frustrating quickly. Lastly, while I once spent some 6 hours at a go in Shadow Lab, I'm no longer willing to make such a time investment. 30-40 minutes is a much more reasonable time commitment for me.
If things were as difficult as they were in BC, I'd probably not be playing much heroics now.
Oct 1st 2011 4:34AM The ironic thing about making gold is that if everyone is trying to do the same thing, it doesn't work out for anyone.
Jun 1st 2011 11:10PM I had a bad experience in the past, when my wife fell out with the gf of my RL buddy in the guild.
No one knows how it started, but they were making snide remarks at each other pretty often, to the extent that it was clearly personal and these girls just disliked each other vehemently.
We didn't bring the girls out when we went out together. Which was good, cos it automatically became a guy's night out since the girls refused to come.
Dec 20th 2010 8:01PM Just to get down to some details here.
Are there any gem sockets that give 20 agi bonus for a single slot? The only 20 agi bonuses I see come from the chest and leg pieces, which have 2 gem sockets. The itemization of the socket bonuses tend to be more +10 of agi or a secondary stat.
Going by this, the gemming advice for blue sockets is basically just to use one glinting demon's eye for the meta activation and absolutely no more, since there are no +20 agi socket bonuses on single gem sockets.
Mar 22nd 2010 8:55PM I'm not sure whether this makes me a bad hunter, but my experience with kiting blistering zombies has been bad. Sure, they're easy to kite, but as a result of my kiting, the adds on my side of the room tends to pile up, and the tank was overwhelmed a couple of times. I'm not sure, but I'm probably killing my kited add too slowly, or dragging it to the side of the room takes too long. But after we switched strat to get the tank to grab the blistering zombie, I managed to burst it down in no time, and had plenty of time left to do the other adds. The damage on the tank was pretty negligible, and the melee on my side was busy with the suppressor packs and far away. Once we did this, we more or less got the fight down.
Just to share my own experience.
Mar 11th 2010 8:27PM Personally I prefer Kill Shot over Hawk as well.
Just an annecdote, but over the past weeks, I've noticed that my DPS on fights where we down the boss is significantly higher than on fights where we don't. I was going to take it as personal DPS inconsistency, except that after going through the numbers, and monitoring the meters during a fight, I realized that I can move up 1-2 spots during the last 20%. Which kind of coincides with KS being available.
Completely unscientific, but there it is.
Mar 5th 2010 3:25AM I've been playing around with the numbers a little, and I very much doubt that 4pc T10 with 2 pc 264 beats out 2pc T10 + 2pc T9. Try switching out the 2 pieces of T10 that are not 264 to T9, and I'm pretty sure you will see a DPS increase.
Feb 26th 2010 4:30AM There is a way to make ammo accessible only when you reach a certain raid content.
1. Ammo vendor gives you a quest. Go kill Marrowgar and bring me a bone!
2. You kill Marrowgar and loot a bone, returns to vendor.
3. Ammo vendor gives you a reward, which happens to be better, unconsumable ammo.
4. Repeat for, say, Rotface.
Feb 16th 2010 10:05PM Both of those items only drop in heroic mode, which is pretty much unsoloable. BTW, people who have Quel'Delar equipped cannot roll for the battered hilt.
Feb 11th 2010 8:09PM I feel that the use of wowmeteronline, and picking the top DPS by spec to make a comparison, is meaningful but incomplete.
While this is indeed the top-end damage each spec is capable of in BiS equipment, it's pretty safe to say that only a small percentage of raiding hunters will actually get that level of gear.
Perhaps it would also be interesting to look further down in the meter for median DPS, or in the lowest 20% bracket as well to get an overview. For instance, MM sees some exponential scaling near the ArP cap, but this advantage may not be as clear in lower gear tiers when compared to BM.
