Jun 17th 2010 11:03AM Electrified fishing nets? Now that's an engineering recipe I'd want to get my hands on!
Jun 15th 2010 4:08AM "Hans .... Are we the baddies?"
Seriously, the Horde have lost all of what they stood for since this take over, I highly doubt the Tauren would have approved if it wasn't for that mild case of assassination. And the orc's use to care about the spirits and nature what with their shamanistic roots - but that's been thrown out in favour of dark iron construction and a full out declaration of open war.
I mean really, did we have to make such an obvious Good Guys vs Bad Guys split just so things were clear cut for everyone involved??
Jun 11th 2010 6:00AM While that is generally true of bottle-necking tactics (which a gateway generally is in itself), but portcullis are used to actually stop individuals from progressing without significant time delay on their progress while they remove the obstacle (and thus granting the defence time to reform and prepare).
Shallow ditches/moats, sudden terrain level changes, czech hedgehog/dragons teeth styled structures are meant to prevent vehicular assault - which I would agree this portcullis would indeed function perfectly for. But I doubt it would really slow or even stop the progress of even mounted troops let alone individual squads on foot.
I highly doubt it would even break up unit formations much, there is no notable funnelling before the gate, nor murder holes or overlooking archery positions to shoot down upon those adjacent to the gate... hell it looks as those the entrance to the guard towers is *right next to the gate*, so as soon as you have broken through you're free to get inside and take it over (granting access to the opening mechanics and also giving you a great overview and perfect archery position to aid your assault)!
I mean really, this couldn't have been designed worse if your tried to! This is visually impressive but utterly impractical by the looks of it.
Jun 11th 2010 4:19AM I hate to say it, but that portcullis will do bugger all, its bars are so far apart an Elekk could even fit through it!!
I also don't care if the buildings now finally have an iron structure, the wooden walls and hide roofing will still go up like kindling if a fire mage is about... mind, most things go up like kindling when a fire mage is about, but that's besides the point.
This is a perfect representation of the type of leader we are now getting, all flare, no sense. Caring more about strutting his stuff and looking hard than actually thinking more than two seconds into the future. I bet there's even an utterly unguarded back door still!
Jun 2nd 2010 2:36PM Ohh, looks good! Sign me up... repeatedly!
Time zones might make it interesting when defining "once a day" but ill just try to post the same time on my day just incase...
May 27th 2010 4:31AM "Pickpocketing and lockpicking."
Ie, a means to acquire a little more money of *some* mobs if you're willing to spend the time, and a means to open some locked things. So, skinning and blacksmithing?
May 25th 2010 10:38AM I always knew the edge of the universe was lilac!
May 24th 2010 11:28AM I dunno, it looks like a lot of lemmings at the end...
May 18th 2010 7:58AM Needs me a tiny tiny mount I does, I'd pet it and feed it (but not too much as I dont want it to grow) and it'd be my bestest friend for ever!
May 13th 2010 11:13AM "Just make sure you're having them pay you with in-game gold; anything out of game will get you banned."
There goes my plan of charging people out of game gold instead =(
