May 5th 2010 7:15AM Hm, at first his UI still looks as if there is still plenty of room for improvement, because it is very compact, build in one big block and does not have the "style" of other UI's that are featured here. In short, it isnt visually appealing.
However, one thing struck me halfway along my inner rant: This UI is made to work on an 13-inch monitor - a fact that changed my opinion almost completely. It isn't supposed to be pretty - rather practical and clear. Yes, the Action Bars, Minimap and other Frames may seem big at first, but there is simply no room to make them more decent because the information would be unreadeable without stressing your eyes too much. Taking these things into account, almost every design decision of Crazyates suddenly makes sense to me.
On top of that, its nice to see how Crazyates took the comments of his last entry to heart and tried to improve his UI accordingly - it definitely looks less cluttered now and I thank Crazyates for sharing the evolution with us, I'm sure he wasn't the only one with a small monitor who can put use out of this.
May 3rd 2010 8:49AM The box in the background was created with kgPanels, which is responsible for pretty much every box and border you see in my UI^^ Grid was just adjusted to fit into that box properly afterwards.

Ok, that shouldn't be not so hard... please note that I am using Pitbull 4with german terms - I'll try to translate properly but dont expect too much^^
Head to the Pitbull Menu, then Layout Editor and choose the Layout you use for your player/target frame. Open the bracket "Text" and choose in the dropdown menu of current text "Lua:Name". You will see yet another dropdown menu with "attach to", choose "unitframe" there. Next to "attach to" you can decide where exactly you would like to have the name. For the Player Frame I put it to the "border upright". For the Target Frame "border up left" because it looks better when mirrored ;-)
I guess you know how to remove the empty bar for your name... didnt you have to create one for that specific reason in the first place? If not, tell me and I'll see if i can explain that too :D
Apr 28th 2010 3:22AM Indeed, this is a very nice and clean UI. I am amazed when comparing the sketch with the final version and seeing how similar they are. Kiela sure did put some serious planning and work into her UI and it shows.
I play a Disc myself when parking my warrior in the garage and know how important it is to have the raid frames near your action bars. Key bindings are all nice and stuff but combining them with some mouse work for less used buttons can be a very efficient and powerfull method when reacting to incoming damage. Theres two things I would take a look at however (question of taste). The chat and recount frame could be a little transparent, so you get a better feeling of the world around you - something I have personally really come to value. And, like Mathew said, make the recount bars shorter. Maybe Minimap would indeed fit nicely into the bottom right corner, just as much as an other shaman addon, but I'm no expert here :-) And as i said, question of taste.
Other than this, I really appreciate Kielas submission to the series - her UI is clean, structured and practical. And you can see how much effort she put into it, which is something you don't see everywhere :D
Apr 21st 2010 7:43AM Well, kgPanels is generally regarded as a quite user-unfriendly addon, because the proper creation of those backgrounds is made way harder than it has to be through the irritating menus. To put it simply, kgpanels just adds plain pictures to your screen. Those are normally just black rectangles made semi-seethrough and put in the right place. You can also additionally add borders and stuff to those pictures. Simple so far, right?^^
It's just that kgPanels offers very little backgrounds/borders by default, so if you want to expand the database you'll have to add them manually which can be frustrating. (This might help: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ap8sGfa5Sd8)
So if you want to create a panel, type "/kgpanels config", head to "Active Panels" and create a new one with a fitting name (e.g. "chat-frame"). The new panels should then appear in the sub-menu of "Active Panels". Most of the configuration like border-type, thickness, background texture, visibility etc. is done there. The actual panels should be somewhere on your screen as soon as you create it - you can drag and drop it where you want it to be and change its size to fit your addons (the most user friendly function^^).
I guess thats the basics, for more advanced panel creation, I suggest googleing a guide for kgPanels, there are plenty out there ;-)
Apr 21st 2010 5:56AM Klar, ich kämpfe um Gegner mit Zerschmettern oder Blutdurst zu zerreissen, Knochen zu brechen und Flickwerkgolems zu zerstören!
Alright, german language does involve some harsh consonants here and there^^ This sentence however, might have been a little intentional :-P
Apr 21st 2010 3:19AM Hi there!
thanks for alle the nice comments! I'm a litte stunned, cos I didnt think my UI would be posted this week already :D So thank you very much Mathew!
As for the UI Package Upload thing... I'm afraid that I'm too lazy to do this properly any time soon. My Girlfriend already copied and adapted it to her own wishes (or better to speak, she made suggestions for improvement -.-) with me watching her, that was hard enough^^
But I'm suprised indeed how similar Zak Edition UI und LUI's UI look, though I have never seen them before. I did however get some inspiration from Caith's UI (already in my first UI, but obviously didnt nail it properly) and an article from a german wow magazine... which you most likely won't be able to get :-P
But since those two UIs arent that different, getting and configuring them a little to your own needs seems to be a good idea if you like my UI ;-)
And don't be scared to destroy your own UIs while trying to improve them! I think most players including me get a really bad feeling halfway along the process because nothing really seems right, but in the end it will definitely pay off! Keep it the good work :-P
Apr 22nd 2009 8:56PM Hey, thats something everyone can enjoy!
Feb 22nd 2009 1:27PM So as a fury warrior expertise is pretty easy to cap with the right armor alone (wonder why there are so many 2handers with expertise in the game thrown after me), but i didnt really got how much hit we should have now. Im piling up easily over 300 by equip (no sockets) and still have precision 3/3. its clear that my special attacks are capped now, but is it a bad choice to go for more?
Feb 2nd 2009 10:29AM Salty Mvin^^
I had really good look in achieving that title and it sounds so much cooler in german. Translated it would mean
Mvin, Terror of the Seas
