Apr 20th 2011 4:24PM Question for the queue:
What happened to Spot!? I was running BRC today and I remembered Blizzard removing Spot from Beauty's fight. In the patch notes, didn't it say that one of the core hounds was moved to another place? Where did he go?!
Apr 11th 2011 12:17PM If by combined avoidance you mean Dodge Rating + Parry Rating + Mastery Rating, then you seem to be pretty good. At this time, everyone gems for Mastery, and reforges as much as you can to mastery, and keeps parry just slightly higher than dodge (by about 1.5%). That will keep your Hold the Line uptime high enough to be useful over the lost dodge due to DRs.
The basic idea of raiding is that you should get ~346 ilvl gear before you start. Keep in mind that the number on your character sheet doesn't accurately reflect the average ilvl you have equipped, so a mod like PlayerScore (used to be GearScore) or logging out and checking the armory would be useful to know.
Personally, I wouldn't start raiding til you get all the epics you can from Dragonmaw and Ramkahen. That way you can have a slightly higher ilvl than 346.
Apr 11th 2011 2:51AM There's a lot of talk on Tankspot forums by Kaz and the like that Shockwave is actually one of the better moves to use when Single Target tanking for threat. I'm pretty sure threat priories are as followed:
SS > SW > Rev > Rend > Dev
There's also concussion blow thrown in there somewhere, WarTotem's spreadsheet throws me the following TPS chart in my gear.
Shield Slam - 24855
Shield Slam (HR) - 53715
Revenge - 19089
Devastate - 15814
Heroic Strike - 21779
Concussion Blow - 39636
Shockwave - 23779
Thunderclap - 7777
Heroic Throw - 23850
Rend - 20353
Victory Rush - 16994
Apr 6th 2011 8:19AM I can say that Prot Warriors gem pure mastery, the only difference is Warriors need a bit more parry than dodge (about 1.5-2%), that way they get better uptime of Hold the Line, a talent in the Prot Tree.
DKs I'm pretty sure stack mastery as well, except they might reforge for the hit cap on bosses like Chimaeron, where they need their Death Strike to hit.
Apr 2nd 2011 4:31PM 1 point of Stamina unbuffed is 14 points of health. Then in addition to that you calculate the amount gained from kings and class passive amounts, which are all multiplicative.
1 point of Stamina = 14 * 1.1 * 1.15 = 17.71 for a Protection Paladin, where 1.1 is for Kings/MotW, and 1.15 is from Touched by the Light.
Apr 1st 2011 4:21PM This is the Tabard of the Lightbringer, only accessible if you get Shadowmourne.
Apr 1st 2011 4:18PM Base dodge/parry has no effect on diminishing returns, it doesn't matter that you have a little bit more parry than dodge.
Dodge and Parry ratings are what needs to be balanced to be about the same. Even if Parry has a higher base value, this does not mean that Parry will be subject to more diminishing returns.
Apr 1st 2011 4:15PM No, the LW embossment does not stack with the one you can buy off of the AH
Apr 1st 2011 4:13PM "Part of the problem is, as a naked tankadin, you have 5% parry and 3.81% dodge as base values. That means that your parry is generally going to always be higher than your dodge and thus eat a higher percent of diminishing returns. "
This is actually incorrect, base dodge and parry (naked), is actually NOT subject to diminishing returns.
The only avoidance subject to diminishing returns is dodge gained from Agility and Dodge Rating, and Parry gained from Strength and Parry Rating.
Because of this, you should keep your dodge and parry RATINGS about the same, which, means, in the end, that your pally will end up having a bit more parry than dodge when balanced
