Dec 13th 2011 6:35PM Well in woW they don't have much class specific quests but they do have a lot of race specific stuff. Like the entire worgan, goblin starting zone. Swtor just chose class over race. Like your starting zone depends on your class and not your race. Its a good way for swtor to differentiate itself from wow.
I just wish swtor had more species. Pretty much all races look human, you only get skin color, horns, tattoos , scars or cyborg implants. Wish they had wookie, mon calamari as options.
Dec 13th 2011 2:17PM @ringo, @Lupos, @johnthedriver We'll im from a very low pop server , joined it because an IRL freind was on the same server too, and its pretty impossible to pug raids on my server. Thats why i really like the LFGs features in wow , they make living on a low pop server bearable.
Im sure swtor will be popular the first few months, then when other MMOs go free to play, guild wars 2 comes out , MoP comes out or just the novelty wears off and people start leaving swtor, Trying to group will be painful.
Dec 13th 2011 1:30PM Great post Matt, your post sums up all the things i like about swtor to wow.
About the class resource gen , hunters also have a focus generator with steady shot and cobra shot and focus spenders with arcane shot ,explosive shot, chimera shot etc. This is neat in pve where i don't have to worry about rage/energy gen or mana conservation , this is a bad mechnic in pvp. If somone is constantly avoiding a hunters LOS by pillar humping , we hunters can't generate any focus and thus making us useless. Thats why i love the DKs dual resource system, Runs that regen on timer and runic power is gained when runes are spent.
SWTOR is neat , however i still think WoW is way more advanced and on cuting edge. SWTOR needs to move away from talent trees, dump the group quests and put in a dungeon and raid finder :)
Oct 14th 2011 7:27PM Could u guys live stream it plz :D I really enjoyed ur dungeon runs "Someone Vote kick Thrall - Matt Mccurly" was hilarious.
Oct 14th 2011 7:03PM And whats our role in BGs ?
- We are not Flag carriers
- We are not great defenders
- We can't sneak in and ninja capture points like rogues and ferals do
All i can do in BGs is run in with the main group , hang back , CC enemy healers and dps the furthest person away from me :(
We need more roles.
Oct 14th 2011 6:00PM I find it funny that we hunters are able to solo the hardest raids and dungeons but find our self sucking in pvp. I think its because our biggest feature/advantage our pets are so much less useful in pvp. The pets bring in buffs , CCs and stuff like masters call, roar of sac and intervene but these are so much harder to master.
Oct 12th 2011 1:21PM When i hear user generated content in wow context these kinda thing come to my mind:
Instead of every crafter in wow crafting the same item , may be crafters can make custom itemized gear , like they get to pick the item time sword, mace and then they r given 1000 pts for say 359 ilvl item , 1200 pts for 378 ilvl them and they can decide what they get to put on it , int , str, mastery, parry, exp etc.
Oct 11th 2011 5:40PM meh, this won't rock the boat too much. I think the market of ppl willing to pay 5K-10K for pets is very small.
What im really interested in seeing is trade able game time. Now that has a bigger market and i can clearly see ppl willing to pay 15K for 15$ worth of game time.
Oct 5th 2011 12:58PM Fishing for a podcast recommendation thats aimed towards tanking and raiding.
