The Raid Finder, the Dungeon Finder, point caps and you {WoW}

Dec 31st 2011 9:43PM Remove all the currency caps, they don't serve a purpose.

Valor should also cap at 1650 per week. Three weeks for a consolation helm?

That's worse than the terrible loot rolls in LFR.

Breakfast Topic: What's the most useless ability in World of Warcraft? {WoW}

Dec 23rd 2011 2:26PM I've been playing Dk's since WOTLK launch, but that's not what the article is talking about. Blood strike is currently a useless ability.

Dec 22nd 2011 12:15PM Pretty sure that no Dk has ever used Blood Strike outside of the starting area.

Blue Posts and Other WoW News: Infinite content and the $100k/year doll factory worker {WoW}

Dec 22nd 2011 12:12PM Solution to the daily quest problem:

Make every daily quest in the game repeatable an infinite number of times, but only reward gold/skill points once per day.

I might have actually enjoyed Molten Front if I could have consumed the content at my own pace. Instead, there was many a night when I got home from work, was going to sleep and thought to myself "If I don't log on today, I'm not going to be able to get ____ before next weeks raid."

The same thing happened with the Dark Moon Faire, I spent one day there, realized it was yet another artificially gated grind, and never went back. I can understand not rewarding gold/skill points in unlimited amounts, but rep/tokens being given away would not be game breaking. Blizzard is stuck with the mindset of "If we give them unlimited access, they will beat it all in a 30 hour gaming session, and cancel their sub until next patch." Unfortunately, the number of people who would really do that is very small, and I bet there are even more people who just choose instead to ignore the content altogether, and just get an experience that is less than complete.

The Doll Factory worker example is incongruous, because unless you are working in a third world country, workers rotate shifts to prevent repetitive motion injuries. A better example would be this:

You want to get a new car, but instead of being able to buy it with whatever means you wanted (a loan, cash, lease) you had to make one tiny payment everyday, for a set amount of time, until the car was paid for, at which time you could pick it up.

Not having control over how/when you consume content will be the downfall of a game this old. Not everyone wants to log in everyday, and having things like the DMF and MF that have "You must complete 37 days of quests to unlock _____" just gives most people a sour feeling.

Dec 22nd 2011 9:57AM The comment about Dk runes is completely wrong.

DW Frost is Razorice MH, Fallen Crusader OH. Most tanks takes Swordshattering (4% Parry, no DR) over Gargoyle because the armor suffers from DR and the stamina is bad.
