Apr 3rd 2012 12:56PM I enjoy PvP but I think arenas are in a bad spot. Games are too long, burst too high, too many CC's. It's probably as balanced as can get but for people that have been playing for many seasons it's getting boring, fast. Seasons should be shorter, we need more maps etc.
Mar 29th 2012 5:33PM Makes you wonder though. I play WoW but frequently play further into the night than I should, so I get 5-6 hours of sleep instead of 8. There must be plenty if pros for playing these games but just as many cons.
I just hope it's doing me more good than bad :)
Mar 9th 2012 2:12PM I agree that changes in game content and mechanics bring a breath of fresh air.
What I HATE about expansion and patches are changes to CORE abilities people have learned to love.
Mages: They used to have a POM+PYRO sepc, fun as hell, loved it. A patch came and they trashed it. WTF?
DKs: used to have a instant hungering cold, fun as hel, loved it. A patch came and made it a FRIKKIN CAST?!?!?!?! WTF?
So, I'm in favor of new content and mechanics, but please blizz, if you're going to change abilities, either scrap them and make something totally new or leave them like they are with minor tweaks (is this even possible?) but don't turn an ability people loved into something people can't even bare to see on their action bar.
Mar 5th 2012 8:46AM Ok, so how will the changes in the fire tree affect PvP? I'm wondering because fire is in a really good place for PvP at the moment and I wouldn't like to see that changing!
Seems like with instant Pyroblast being a random proc and having to cast flamestrike might complicate things for fire in PvP. Then again if the instant pyros proc often enough it shouldn't be a problem. And combustion being on a 45 sec cd will help with the low damage we output whilst waiting for the current 2 min cd to reset!
Feb 27th 2012 9:22AM Ok my last comment sounded harsher than I intended, I do agree burst is too high nowadays. Its just the DK comment boiled my blood, considering I also play one and the truth is, DK burst makes up for its terrible melee survivability. Go give examples of classes that have burst AND high survivability/utility (mages, rogues, spriest, warlocks).
Feb 27th 2012 9:10AM @Milindpania
DKs uses all you said he does, they all last 15 secs. If you survive it which quite frankly is very possible, you can say hello to DEAD DK BECAUSE HE HAS NO MORE CDS.
I'm amazed yo are whining about the pressure a DK can put up when today the number 1 nuke target in an arena are frost DKs.
Cmon man, go whine somewhere else, stick to the topic.
Feb 27th 2012 9:03AM I totally agree with making 2v2 games that end after 45 minutes 2v1 a win for the 2 that are alive.
Real example: I'm a fire mage and play 2v2 with a resto shaman. We face a DK/Disc Priest team and succesfully get a kill on DK with a strong cc chain on Priest after about 5 minutes. The priest decides to stay pillar humping in the Sewers map and voilá, 45 minutes, we couldnt get the kill. We all lose.
So 40 minutes facing someone bitter and nasty enough to do something out of PURE SPITE. That must be one of the most disheartening things yet, in fact we will stay out of 2v2 with this comp other than for the conquest cap because things like this are allowed to happen (and don't tell me its a skill problem because an undergeared mage cannot kill a pillar humping disc priest even with the sham spamming purges).
And really, what kind of person does that? I can understand 15 minutes just to annoy people, but stay the full 40 minutes just out of spite...
Hope they fix this soon.
Oct 14th 2011 4:18PM Nice article! I'm leveling a hunter and I'm going to focus on PvP, and have always wondered why so few of them are featured in high end arena. I think other classes have a similar skill cap but are easier to combine with other classes and have less map related lock out issues.
Hope blizzard implements some of your ideas, would be nice to see more hunters about in PvP! (a good feral/hunter this season is hell to beat though lol, less of those hehe)
Oct 3rd 2011 10:14AM And on LFD hostility, yes people are incredibly childish and judgemental, most times blaming the wrong guy. I tried a ZF the other day as a tank - I have no idea what my ilvl is but its enough - and on one of the pulls I did all the marking (skull for main nuke, X for second nuke) and started my rotation and suddenly the shit hit the fan and we wiped. Of course one of the dpsers started giving me grief and telling me to l2p, so I checked recount and found out that the mage was going full out on one of the mobs that I hadn't marked... I have no idea if that alone is what wiped us or if it was a mix of a bit of all of us sucking but, it happened again on other mob grps and tbh i just said "GL fellas, I have to go" and left.
Another case was a ZA i was tanking with my bro hpalla, on the boss that calls shitloads of adds and does tha fire line crap. The adds just wouldnt die and I couldn't hold aggro long enough. One of the dpsers was giving me some HEAVY grief and even started trying to tell me how to spread diseases and use DnD, which I silently took (on skype with my bro wondering wtf was happening) and I was starting to doubt my skills (which im sure are good - cataclysm dungeon hero). Long story short, we wiped enough for all dpsers to leave and a fresh bunch joined, of which a mage and a feral. Guess what? The adds dropped like flies and I held aggro fine. The rest of the dungeon was a breeze. It was a DPS problem, which looked like a tank problem.
If there was a technology that allowed you to punch your computer screen in such a way that your fist would go straight through to the face of all tards that screw up these LFD runs, i would use it.
Hopefully these new 4.3 dungeons will be short and fun cuz these ZA/ZF ones are too much.

I've tanked GB with healers decked out in 346 pve gear and a few raid items (back at the start of cata) and had plenty of trouble. On the other hand I've tanked GB with healers in FULL PVP gear that healed me and the group with absolutely no effort, flawless.
SKILL is what determines and separates good from bad healers. Having a PVP set has absolutely no influence on the outcome of the dungeon if the player behind the toon is SKILLED. Raiding is another ballgame.
So please, do not judge a player ONLY by his gear (specially if he's in PVP gear). Give him a chance, more times than not he will do fine. If not ask him to leave and explain why, this "OMG ure in PVP gear noob, get out or we kick" attitude is just depressing.
