Breakfast Topic: Healers are the drummers of WoW {WoW}

Jan 7th 2010 8:34AM I've always called the healer the goalie. They take pride not in landing hits on the other team, but in stopping the other team from landing hits on them. The rest of the team doesn't completely understand the goalie, but appreciates a good one very much.

Breakfast Topic: Fickle loot table, I stab at thee {WoW}

Dec 16th 2009 8:17AM I had the BEST loot day yesterday! Three pieces for my discipline set and two for my shadow set all told.

That said, I don't study loot tables of instances - I study the inventories of the emblem quartermasters, since that gear I can count on getting. Drops are a nice surprise, not something I'm waiting for.

Breakfast Topic: Your random dungeon experiences {WoW}

Dec 14th 2009 8:45AM My only bad experiences with the random LFG tool have been when it invited me to a dungeon in progress. Every time, it was because the previous healer left - and every time, I quickly followed suit. With anonymous PUGs on demand, there's not much incentive to stick with chuckleheads.

Breakfast Topic: What kind of PuG are you? {WoW}

Dec 11th 2009 3:43PM I'm very happy with the dungeon finder tool. Anyone good enough to get good enough gear to get through the gear filter tends to be good enough to get through to the end of the dungeon. I've had 2 groups that failed and dissolved, and in both cases I was invited to the dungeon while it was in progress because the previous healer had left. So far all the fresh PUGs I've been in have successfully completed the instance - some have wiped once or twice, and some had weaker players who were very challenging to heal, but not impossible. On the whole I'm having a great time. Dungeons on demand!

Patch 3.3: Fall of the Lich King Trailer {WoW}

Dec 8th 2009 6:14PM Very nice symmetry with the expansion cinematic.

Breakfast Topic: The high cost of playing {WoW}

Dec 6th 2009 3:10PM The only paid service I resent is server transfers. The whole notion of being locked onto one server is really outdated. Anyone anywhere should be able to play with anyone anywhere. Full stop.

As for the rest, it's all cosmetic, and Blizzard can charge whatever they please. The rates are a wee bit hefty compared to what I've seen in other games, but whatever. Once I'm out of school and back in the workforce I'm going to splurge on a ton of race changes - no more blood elves for me!

Gender differences in armor {WoW}

Dec 6th 2009 2:52PM I'm actually more of a prude with my toons than I am with myself. I don't mind working my cleavage or flashing some leg in real life, but if a toon shows so much as a bellybutton I get really uncomfortable. I guess my relationship with my characters is a little bit parental - I want them to be warm enough and avoid unwanted attention.

WoW is actually better than lots of MMOs in this regard because you can always pop a tabard on top of the whole mess.

The Queue: The bird is most certainly not the word {WoW}

Dec 5th 2009 12:15AM Grey items also exist to cover the pathetic nakedness of new characters.

Raid Rx: Maximizing the proc {WoW}

Nov 28th 2009 12:56AM I have all my off-GC casting bonuses, including my trinkets, macro'ed straight to my heals. My troll spends a lot of time muttering about how she can't use that yet.

My reasoning is that I am most effective blowing these cooldowns as often as possible, rather than never using them and then trying to remember them in emergencies.
