Apr 3rd 2012 4:32PM Well, lucky you. Just because it hasn't happened to you, doesn't mean it doesn't happen.
My guild is about half women, most of whom flocked to our guild because we forced the males to be respectful. Once they found a guild where they weren't going to hear all that crap, they stayed.
Apr 3rd 2012 4:29PM Lucky you. I get it constantly, even from people who don't know I really am female.
Apr 3rd 2012 4:26PM Strong female leads who get told to hush, called a b*tch, and relegated to support roles.
I'm sorry, what game are you playing again, cause it's not the same one I am playing.
Apr 3rd 2012 4:23PM I'm a girl. I'm also a game developer. Specifically a game designer. I have to deal with this.
Honestly, 90% of the time, the person doing it DOESN'T SEE IT. Those two lines without the context of having been hit on and such in game, are not bad by themselves. But, once you have those experiences, it changes the way you see the line. (I wasn't bothered by it, as it's actually true, my poor blood elf has to sick her felpuppy on people to get them to leave her alone.)
As for the "armor" differences, that is an artist thing. And honestly, I think they know at this point and should stop, but there is always the one guy on the team who fights for it, insisting it's fine and such.
The thing is, all those women who this does bother, tend to not speak up. They don't think it's worth the time to argue with Blizz. They think, "Fine, you aren't going to consider me, then I will just go find a game that does." Most of the women who stay think that is just the way it is, and they have to live with it. Until we vocal minority scream our heads off and make them change, they aren't going to.
This is why I love all the WoW Insider writers for bringing up the hush/Tyrande debacle *every*single*time* they talk about Cata's story. I hope Blizz is listening.

Yes, but there are ones with a piece of armor, then a neck or weapon that overlap. My rogue has had to make that choice 4 or 5 times just in Hyjal.
Mar 29th 2012 8:57PM Do you know how many times I picked the healing piece even on my mage simply because it had a better look and I wanted it for Transmog when leveling (usually I had the awesome dungeon blue)?
BLEH. The more I think about this, the more I hate it.
Mar 29th 2012 8:45PM Terrible terrible idea.
What about offspecs? If I already have an awesome dps piece, I want to be able to pick up the awesome healing piece?
Not to mention, with the difference in gold between armor pieces, you just SCREWED every clothie. Oh, here's an item you don't need, but you can only sell for 5g. What's that? The Pally got a similar item but it sold for 20g? Aw, well maybe you should play that class then.
I think having your "correct" spec item highlighted, then your "offspec" items highlighted a different color, then having items you can't use highlighted red, still solves the problem, but doesn't punish players who want an item for transmog or to sell.
Mar 23rd 2012 4:24PM You can make a brand new toon to boost to 80. I did. My third account had zero characters on it when I reactivated it. I made a level 1 warrior, then logged out, then went to Battlenet and boosted her up to 80.
Mar 23rd 2012 4:22PM Account had to be inactive (not just cancelled) prior to March 4th.
