Around Azeroth: Zeppelins rule! {WoW}

Mar 14th 2012 3:13PM For those of you with no farmers in your family: "Steer" is NOT another word for "Bull." A steer is a bull that has been castrated. So, err, yeah. How would you know from this picture? No, wait, I don't want to know that.

Italian version of WoW coming soon {WoW}

Feb 24th 2012 2:24PM Well, if they were only translating the text, I'd tend to agree. However, WoW language packs include all the voice acting as well, and that's no small feat. After all, it's not so much "get it done" as "get it done very well, with the polish you expect from Blizz." That's my guess, anyway.

The Queue: NO {WoW}

Feb 24th 2012 11:51AM Sadly, once Blizz updates the sys requirements, that's pretty much it. The old version of the game will happily start up, then see that it's out of date, go to patch, and never let your friend login. My sister used the impending Intel req as an excuse to upgrade from her old iBook G4 to a shiny new MacBook Pro shortly before Cata came out (and now WoW looks so shiny on her machine, I'm jealous. . .).

Blizz has let people fudge a bit on the sys req's each expansion (letting users run on OS 10.3 when 10.4 became the base requirement, letting users run the Win98 version when Win2K became the base requirement, etc.), but eventually all of these "We'll let you run it, but we won't support it" situations simply become "Sorry, no longer" situations. I'm pretty sure the Intel processor requirement is an insurmountable one. :-(

Official Monopoly: World of Warcraft game to be unveiled next week {WoW}

Feb 9th 2012 11:44AM But. . . but. . .now that you've said it, I think that I might actually WANT Warcraft floor mats.

Blue Posts: Account-wide achievements to work with non-MoP achievements, "Ask A CDev" soon {WoW}

Feb 8th 2012 12:46AM That's a darn good question! I haven't had the energy to try it on an alt, but I sure wouldn't mind an extra free mount on everybody! As to the pets from anniversaries, my new toons don't get the one from past years, only the ones for battle.net (penguin) and authenticator (corehound), plus collector's edition pets. Do other players really get the Blizzard Bear & mini Ony on new toons without mailing the account-bound pet around?

Jan 24th 2012 11:26AM Yeah, I did that once. Just clear your browser's cache, and it will default to the mobile site again.

Blue Posts and Other WoW News: Characters being dark in the armory means nothing {WoW}

Jan 20th 2012 12:03PM If I could up-vote you further, sir, I would. I never understood the excitement about the Dance Studio. Don't get me wrong -- I would have played around with it if they had put it in, but compared to so many other things, it wasn't a big deal. The only dropped feature that sounded more worthless than the Dance Studio to me was the other "Great Loss," the Path of the Titans. I mean, it was like glyphs, but instead of glyphs you acquired various Titan artifacts, knowledge, whatever, and it was connected to Arhcaeology in some vague way. Even when they announced it, I just said, "So, why don't they just improve the glyph system instead?" And that's what they did. I swear, players bring up these two "features" with about as much meaning as "QQ because of Reasons." At the end of the day, I think the little "Open Map" animation they added a few patches ago gets used far more than the Dance Studio ever would have.

The only missing feature I've ever truly missed was the idea, very early on, that the Nerubian Old Kingdom wouldn't just be a couple instances, but an entire underground zone. I thought having a "Warcraft Underdark" would have been really cool, and when I saw all the gorgeous art that you just pass by in Azjol-Nerub / Old Kingdom, I missed it (if you can miss a thing you never had) even more. But, of course, we finally got an underground zone with Deepholme, and it's pretty awesome in its own way. :-)

The Queue: Why I welcome the Dragon Soul nerf and why you should, too {WoW}

Jan 19th 2012 12:24PM Well, I would imagine that such insufferable elitists probably ARE in guilds composed entirely of their type. Then again, that type will probably still not be happy because "the casuals and the bads have our stuffs!!!!!1 Now how will the n00bs know we're 1337?!!" And, at the end of the day, that's what most of them are really complaining about. :-/

I've been playing WoW since 2006, and, I have to say, I'd take a "bad casual Cata baby" who is friendly and has a good attitude over a leet deeps jerk any day.
