More details emerge on Void Storage -- 80 slots of space {WoW}

Aug 17th 2011 11:47AM Pleasepleasepleaseplease let this bank function across all your characters. I'm tired of going through the grind on each character that hits 85. I'd rather play my main, use the VP for 378 gear, and use the JP for some 359 stuff for my alts.

Raid Rx: The power of audio cues {WoW}

Aug 5th 2011 1:56PM I've been tanking for some friends on my server; we've gotten to 6/7 and we're now working on Ragnaros (7/7 on my main). Our raid leader calls out a LOT of mechanics, which helps the raid, but it feels like people start to get too reliant on him on instead of paying attention to their own timers, which hurts us on a fight like Rag. I feel like they need to be able to handle the fight mechanics (Molten Seed timing and movement, Sulfuras Smash positioning and Sons of Flame priotitization) if he's busy dealing with getting people healed up after seed explosions or Magma Traps (oh, yeah, and he's also a resto shaman).

How would you deal with a situation like this? It's not really my place to tell him to stop calling things out, but people need to learn the motions without having their hands held the entire time.

Blizzard unveils patch 4.2 Dungeon Journal Preview {WoW}

Jun 23rd 2011 2:09PM I've noticed that Blizzard is getting a lot of negative feedback over the Journal. It's mostly complaints that they're "catering to casuals and bads," oddly enough. I don't really see why people have an issue with the information being in-game; after all, wouldn't you just be alt-tabbing to Wowhead or YouTube to check out a strategy anyway? It's already there, Blizzard is just making the information more accessible.

Datamining Cataclysm's legendary staff {WoW}

Feb 26th 2011 6:54PM Oh god, yes. Oh god, yes.

The one thing I was sort of hoping for was an Anathama/Benediction-style legendary that could turn from a staff into a legendary MH + OH combo with, say, some kind of set bonus. :D Ideally, you could enchant the MH + OH and have both enchants remain on it once it was reformed into a staff. That way, everyone could use what they enjoyed visually for a weapon.

Arcane Brilliance: Which mage spec should you be raiding with? {WoW}

Feb 20th 2011 10:54AM Stateofdps is NOT accurate, thanks. It's a parse of the TOP DPS from WoL.

Let me say that again.
TOP DPS, not average DPS. It's a measure of DPS from people who are wearing 372/379 gear, not a mix of 346 heroic gear and rep epics or drops from the first couple bosses in BoT or BWD.

Breakfast Topic: What makes a great raid leader? {WoW}

Feb 20th 2011 10:28AM Heh, the last raid I was in had a member from a Chinese guild on our server; we were working on Al'Akir and during the entire Phase 3 he was constantly reminding us of where to move and "don't worry, everyone stay calm" for the entire last phase, down to us killing him.

The Lawbringer: A world without remedy {WoW}

Feb 18th 2011 1:26PM Then again, it's EA.

Openmoko brings improved keypad / scrolling and math equations to WikiReader {Engadget}

Feb 9th 2010 5:20PM What is Engadget's problem with the WikiReader? It may become outdated quickly, but it's still a useful tool for those who don't have constant internet access. If you're at school, or on vacation, or just in BFE, this could be quite useful. Doesn't Wikipedia only put out full dumps once every month, anyway?

For $99, I'd buy one if I had the cash. It doesn't seem like such a terrible device to me. I'd be interested to know why there's such a negative attitude towards it.

BMW makes the awesome look SIMPLE with leaning three-wheeler (video) {Engadget}

Oct 12th 2009 6:05AM That really reminds me of the Dark Knight's Batmobile, but smaller.

Apple enlists David Puddy to take on the Laptop Hunters {Engadget}

Aug 26th 2009 1:37AM Here's my idea of a much fairer commercial.

Mac: Hello. I'm a Mac.

PC: And I'm a PC.

Mom: And I'm looking to buy a great computer.

PC: Well, allow me to introduce the top-of-the-line PC. It offers much greater customization possibilities and is also cheaper than a comparable Mac.

Mom: Well, I want a computer with a big screen.

Man: With me, you can get as large of a screen as you want. With a Mac, you're limited to two sizes of monitor,

Mom: And I want a really fast processor.

Man: No problem. I can use any processor you want. When you think I need a new one, you can do it easily yourself. Not so much with a Mac.

Mom: And I want one that just... works, without thousands of viruses and tons of headaches.

Man: While it is possible for me to get viruses, if you just set up a free virus scanner to run at night, when you're not using your computer, you'll be fine.

Mac: I don't get any viruses though. There have only been a few cases of infection.

Man: That would be because nobody cares about you, Mac.

Mom: I think I like this PC.

Man: You should leave right about now, Mac.
