Apr 5th 2009 3:32PM Ah, never mind. In the context of what you were saying, you were inferring to merely the WoW universe. Whoops :)
Again, nice review.
Apr 5th 2009 3:30PM Like the review, but I had to laugh when I heard "of all the manga, comic books, and novels I have read, Arthas has the most solid, balanced writing and best realized characters."
I really, REALLY hope you haven't read anything from Chekhov, Hemingway, Atwood...I'm not gonna push the issue.
Don't overhype. Your posts are witty and informative without having to do that.

Your comparison is probably the most faulty--rogues go out of energy after two attacks, healers go out of mana after fifty.
So, you expect to get that mana back in two seconds just like the rogue? Put yourself in the developer's shoes--is that balanced gameplay?
Do any of people understand that making the game balanced (whether its your class getting nerfed or buffed) is what keeps you playing? How long would play the game for if your class did 10million dps/healing? Not long, because no one else would play the game. It's stupid to try to "lobby" for your class, not to mention that Blizzard doesn't even listen to illogical complaints like "why are you NERFING THE ENJOYMENT OF THE GAME FOR EVERYONE?!"
Feb 4th 2009 2:42PM I love how people are crying about this -- I really never believed the stereotype that all wow players are nerds, but if you guys dont know what RPI is, and don't realize that all Blizzard did was implement one, then apparently you've never done anything competitive in your life.
All Blizzard did was implement an RPI -- thats it. There's nothing you can bitch about, unless you were rolling crap teams to get your rating high.
However, I do with they would factor in other things like gear and other variables into the RPI calculation, as that plays a huge factor. I personally built up a crap hidden rating (10-15) my first week when me and my pally was geared in greens, but now that we're geared this week we went 33-10 and gained 200 points.
So to the people complaining about having winning records and losing points, it because you need to boost your RPI by beating teams with a higher RPI than you. When you do that, slowly but surely you will start getting more and more points with every win against an equal-RPI team. But if you keep losing when you are paired against a higher RPI team, you will gain less and less points when you do win against an equal-RPI team.
Rather than being a 1-to-1, linear comparison between the team's ratings, it behaves like the Arena Points vs. Rating curve: it exponentially increases with each win against a better skilled team.
Feb 4th 2009 9:34AM I just look at how much you typed and laughed.
Dude, its a joke that is drawing an allegory between race in modern society and the apartheid between PvPers and PvEers in WoW. I don't know how you can be offended--I'm not calling anyone racist, I'm calling out how stupid it is that players can't embrace or respect other ways of playing the game that is different from their own.
Feb 4th 2009 3:44AM @Quigley: It isn't that far removed, your acknowledgment of it proves that. And all real absurdists base their humor on truth.
By the way, you are now proposing segregation.
Separate but equal right?
