Jul 8th 2011 12:19PM OK, here's one I don't get (inspired by the fact that my post-cata mage has now reached 81, and I had to unlock Vash'jir long enough to get to the Earthen Ring's Quartermaster):

When you start the Vash'jir quest chain, both the Horde and Alliance talk about a major important island that's surfaced off of the coast of Stormwind, more or less on the city's metaphorical doorstep, where a lot of very fierce Horde vs Alliance fighting is taking pace. Players then take a ship out to the site and are almost there when the kraken attacks, and we all end up going for a swim.

Here's the thing: if they're talking about Tol Barad (the site of a lot of fierce Horde vs Alliance fighting), theoretically, Baradin's Wardens have been there for years and years, so there isn't any good way for it to have just surfaced. Also, there's old established villages and keeps on the island. Further, if you look at a map, Tol Barad isn't anywhere near the Stormwind Coast. It's farther north than Ironforge, actually.

Of course, Vash'jir itself is more or less off the coast of Stormwind, but there's basically no major land masses included, just a couple small island's with flight points back to the main land. Worse, there's no island or islands with major interfaction warfare taking place.

So, after all that, my question is this: what island are they talking about when they send you off on what ultimately becomes your watery adventure? I can't come up with an answer that actually makes any sense.

Jul 2nd 2011 12:25PM Q for the Q (Continuum?): I could have sworn that Blizzard was supposed to be making male and female models of the various demons available with this patch (4.2). Was I imagining this, or am I just failing at finding it? Thanks!

May 2nd 2011 2:30PM I'm actually a bit surprised that no one mentions destruction warlocks in the dispelling discussion. Actually, it can be any warlock, but since the dispel is actually cast by the imp (Singe Magic), realistically, it's usually only going to be possible with a destro lock.

The nice part is that it removes 1 harmful magic affect from a friendly target (on a 6 second cooldown), and it works with Decursive. Thought it worth mentioning!

May 1st 2011 8:19PM Question for the queue: Are we only allowed to do one cooking quest per day? According to MMO Champion and WoW Head, each faction received 10 new daily cooking quests in other faction cities (IF and DN for the allies, TB and UC for the horde).

The thing is, I went and did today's cooking quest in Orgrimmar and then flew to the trainer in Thunder Bluff. She didn't have a quest for me. I moseyed on over to UC, but the same result was in the offering. Is it only one cooking daily per day? My main is kind of behind on his cooking, so I'd hoped that I could use this as a lazy way to improve things a tad.

Blood Pact: The fine art of staying alive, part 1 {WoW}

Mar 7th 2011 7:41PM Wow, remind me to never bloody claim first again. Not to sound petulant, but seriously folks, if you're going to down-rank someone, do it for a legit reason.

Iirdan, thanks for reposting my (hopefully relevant comment.

Blood Pact: The fine art of staying alive, part 1 {WoW}

Mar 7th 2011 6:18PM First, apparently.

One other nice bit of CC that I was surprised you didn't mention is Banish. Totally locks out elementals and demons, and Cataclysm has LOTS of elementals. You're combat locked once you cast it, but you can still run a very long way (far enough to leash) if you need to once the elemental is banished. Better still, you can cast it in the middle of a multi-target pull gone messy and not worry about anyone's AoE damage breaking the effect. Only downside to it is that if it's recast before it expires, it actually breaks.

Feb 2nd 2011 1:10PM Lived right off of Davis Square (Somerville, MA) for over a year and worked in the Boston area for a total of almost 3.

...My wife and I now live in San Diego, and we're quite happy to be away from the horrendous weather, horrid housing prices (news flash: San Diego is actually cheaper), and the mountains of snow that they're currently experiencing.

On a related note, throwing my vote in for The Who, partially 'cause great band that they were, I never really got into the Beatles.
