Sep 15th 2011 1:46PM Oh man, I love this. The chest made me immediately think of dungeons and dragons, where padded quilting was the sturdiest thing my wizard could wear. This set is colorful without being obnoxious, the shoulders don't look like warrior gear, and I appreciate a slightly wacky set after so many tiers of deadly serious (fiery skull t11, I'm looking at you.)
I'm holding my breath for the paladin set - they're definitely going for broke with this tier, and I hope it turns out okay. T12 is awesome enough that I won't be heartbroken to use it a while longer, though.
Sep 14th 2011 12:04PM Q for the Q:
I recently got into the novels, and read through the War of the Ancients as well as a couple of the more recent Christine Golden books. I've had my fill of night elves, dragons and Thrall - I want to read about the blood elves and Forsaken. The best I've gotten is the "In the Shadow of the Sun" short story, which was fantastic and left me wanting more.
What novels, if any, have more than a bare mention of the Forsaken or blood elves?
Sep 14th 2011 12:00PM Wow, that's fantastic. Now I know what I'm gonna gather to transmog for my Paladin, thanks!
Sep 13th 2011 8:22PM Naaaa-na-na-na-na-na na na, na katamari damacy!
Sep 8th 2011 1:28PM I don't think the mentality of 'every guild should be able to get this patches legendary' is the right one, or the one Blizzard has ever used. How many guilds on a server had a glaive before Wrath? Hell, how many were clearing SWP regularly enough to see Thor'idal? And those are just drops, not go-through-hell-and-back-to-put-this-together like Shadowmourne, hearkening back to the fun of assembling an A'tiesh with a 40 man guild.
Your guild isn't through normal Firelands yet. Mine sure isn't either. Neither of us are entitled to a Dragonwrath before April.
Aug 31st 2011 8:43PM I love to tank. It's the only role I can really get into - I'll Ret around if my tank buddy wants to do some five-mans, but tanking is really where it's at for me. I'm really intrigued by the 'DPS buttons build up resources' model he listed, and even though it's not set in stone I really like the idea of building up bone shield charges or socking away either more holy power or some other resource for a period of heavy damage. Tank skill could be measured by not only building that resource up quickly while managing other tanky stuff but using it at the right time, not holding it too long and straining mana but not blowing it before you need it.
I had the same experience as brain314 at the very beginning of Cata, where my paladin felt so alien to me that I had to take a break, but in all honesty ICC was my introduction to tanking. The current iteration is more complex and more engaging, and I'm all for another step upwards.
Also, to those saying get rid of tanks - that really won't do. If you want everyone in the group to click on enemies until they die, I hear they're making Diablo and Titan just for you.
Aug 23rd 2011 2:12AM Absolutely I think of that if ever I call someone 'priest.' It's almost never fitting, but it cheers me up.
Aug 23rd 2011 2:03AM My wife's name in every game was Filoviridae. Nobody could say or read it to save their lives. She's Flavordave now. She laughed, went with it, and rolled a couple toons by that name.
Aug 23rd 2011 1:52AM I can't even remember the last time I was called my name in a PUG. I've been 'tank' for so long that when the raid leader said 'Pole, you get the two on the left,' it took me a long damn time to realize this was me.
It's like the others said, though, that's far from the worst that happens in a PUG. Kingslayer Druid Healer (full names, we respect these players now) has pulled sixteen nonthreatening troll adds so far and is not likely to stop. We're on our third rogue, and I can't remember whether this one's name is Hassassin or Sassyknives, so when we wipe on Jin'Do again because we have no DPS for the chains because Mr. Yellow Bar can't hide from chain lighting, it's "Rogue, stay alive this time and we've got it." This is, at this point, the most respectful thing I can say to you - it could be much worse.
The advice against a 'don't' macro is sound, as well. If you fire that off with your buffs at the entrance, I'm going to call you priest, healer, Priesty McPriesterton, Father, Hey You, and whatever else I can use except your name.
Jan 2nd 2011 12:44PM Still want one of these sets
