Several hotfixes now live {WoW}

Feb 20th 2009 9:50AM Are rogues really having PvE DPS problems? I mean, I haven't had any problems maintaining consistently high DPS in OS and Naxx with my HfB spec.

It's frustrating to see blizzard prioritize class balance for PvE far above PvP. It really gives the impression that they don't even care about PvP anymore. I'm willing to bet that more people are pissed than pleased about how they handled the arena rating system and it's new "hidden rating."

Several hotfixes now live {WoW}

Feb 20th 2009 9:26AM WTF!? Stop nerfing rogues already!

Was it really necessary to shorten the duration of our poisons?

I don't see them shortening other classes debuffs to 10 seconds...what gives blizzard?

New glyphs incoming soon {WoW}

Feb 20th 2009 9:19AM Glyph of the Boomkin Dance - when dancing in Boomkin form, you will automatically bump and grind all nearby targets and dazing them while inflicting (75 + SP * .07) Nature damage every second as long as they stay within 5 yards.

Don't say I didn't warn you....

But on a serious note, Blizzard, please glyph Mutilate similar to Glyph of Backstab.

World of Warcraft 2009 Arena Tournament announced [Updated] {WoW}

Feb 10th 2009 2:21PM Note that "can earn" is in quotes...

No guarantee you get the pet if you sign up, from the looks of it.

Inner Fire less annoying in patch 3.0.9 {WoW}

Feb 10th 2009 2:18PM This change doesn't help priests as much as the Mutilate nerf does. lol

Breaking: Consumable ammunition will not be removed in patch 3.1 {WoW}

Feb 10th 2009 12:52PM This is not too surprising. When you consider that removing consumable ammo means that every ammo vendor in the game will need to be removed/tweaked and that engineering and leatherworking will also need to be tweaked a little to remove the recipes for ammo/arrows and ammo pouches/quivers. And you can be sure that both these professions will be expecting some new recipes of some sort to compensate for these losses. Whether they will get that compensation is doubtful.

Bat mounts? Blizzard, please make it so. {WoW}

Feb 10th 2009 10:09AM OMG. I had a dream last night that I got a bat mount. That's clearly a sign that I play too much WoW and that I'm a mega-nerd.

Bat mounts would be awesome, and everyone would be trying to get them.

I think my favorite mounts so far are the Time-Lost Proto Drake (Black and Red are also awesome), Reins of the Raven Lord, Cenarion War Hippogryph and the Swift Zulian Tiger.

Blizzard, PLEASE give us more mounts we can buy for the 100 mounts achievement! IMO, you should let us by the white hippogryphs you can ride from the flight point in Crystalsong Forest. Those are sexy!

Patch 3.0.9 to go live this week {WoW}

Feb 9th 2009 4:51PM Here's something I hadn't considered...

Presuming your weapon damage is ~620 w/ each weapon like me:

Current Mut on poisoned targets = ~2760.88
New Mut on poisoned targets = ~2208.7
Backstab w/ glyph as Mut or Sub = ~2008.8
Backstab w/ glyph as Comb = ~2795.25

However...damage per energy spent:

Current Mut w/ poison = 46.01
New Mut w/ poison = 36.81
Backstab w/ glyph as Mut or Sub = 44.64
Backstab w/ glyph as Comb = 46.59

So, the change makes Backstab more energy efficient than Mutilate, and without losing TONS of burst. And remember, BS crits more often. Combo point generation is moot because as deep Sub, you will probably be getting more CPs than as Mut due to HAT. Also, when you consider how many BS's you can get in as Combat when you have Adrenaline Rush up, this turns out to be a lot more burst damage than Mutilate.

As much as I love Mutilate for PvP, I think this change has killed it, even for me... Let's hope they change their minds over at Blizzard.

Patch 3.0.9 to go live this week {WoW}

Feb 9th 2009 3:42PM Oh! I'm not disagreeing with you! I love Mutilate the way it is, and the change is disappointing to be sure for PvP. However, if you haven't noticed, Blizzard seems much more concerned about PvE than PvP these days, as evidenced by their constant tweaking of talents and abilities for PvE balance and their major neglect of all things PvP.

Taking that into consideration, you can totally see why they made the changes they did. With the announced HfB change, Mut would be just too damn bursty in raids. In PvP where no one uses HfB, the change sucks sucks sucks.

I guess the gist of my post was not that Mut rogues should use BS instead, but that with the announced changes, it might not be surprising to see more rogues not spec for Mut and go either deep Sub or tinker with deep Combat for PvP. I wouldn't be surprised to see Assassination specs stopping at something lower in the tree, like Deadly Brew, or Seal Fate, since glyphed Backstab is more comparable to the future Mutilate.

Patch 3.0.9 to go live this week {WoW}

Feb 9th 2009 3:13PM I wanted to add, does anyone know if crit damage bonuses stack multiplicatively or additively? If it's multiplicative, does that mean that by having 5/5 lethality and 5/5 prey on the weak, you can get up to 2 * 1.2 * 1.3 = 3.12x the damage when you crit?

If that's the case, change the above BS crit with deep combat spec to ~8721.09.

Holy #*$&!
