Apr 17th 2009 4:42AM The biggest difference between something like this and the Ebay ranking system is that of money. As serious as many people make this game, it's still just a game. And as such, people are inclined to take it far less seriously. Furthermore, as many have said, the vast majority of players would simply make bad notations on someone. They may have what they perceive to be a reason, and may not simply have a vendetta, but if all the responses are negative, there is no chance for a change in it. Inevitably all players' ratings will become sorely negative. Your assumption is based on all players making a rating on all pugs, all the time. Sorry, won't work.
Furthermore, how often do you see personal rivalries turn into clique rivalries? One or two people with a vendetta will swiftly change into 15 people with a vendetta. It's a basic part of crowd mentality.
Apr 14th 2009 4:46PM I, for one, have absolutely no problem with this. Yeah, it'd be great to be on right now, figuring out the perfect ret-healadin dual spec, but really? I'm just glad they're making an effort to keep this from being a disastrous patch launch. And hey, I'd rather wait to log on than just be really disappointed when I do, only to find out they rushed it and it's unplayable. I'm a big fan of the "release it when it's ready" mentality.
Feb 6th 2009 2:05AM So, I wonder if they're going to take the potential use of exorcism in PvP into consideration. If they give ret yet another powerful attack to use, what would that do to any balance in PvP? Of course, I'm holy and I don't really PvP anyways, but I'm just thinking there's definitely gonna be an outcry if it does more to unbalance in arenas...
Feb 5th 2009 3:53PM So, correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't they getting all crazy about wanting to make it more desirable to play healers? It seems to me like a massive mana regen nerf definitely doesn't make healing more accessible. This will do little but further thin out the ranks of healers already, if you ask me.
