Apr 22nd 2009 12:13PM Although the Curse client is not as polished as WoWMatrix was and it did have that error warning at the beginning, that you can safely ignore, it works just fine.
It feels less snappy than WoWMatrix, but it works and does the job. Apparently the latest version I got was released the day wowinsider posted the original story on how it was going to be blocked. I used it on the evening of the patch day and it updated all my addons. I made sure to back them up first for those just in case moments. Actually I had a really easy addon experience with the only issue being I had to re-tweak the positioning of some GUI items mainly dealing with Bartender, but this was really easy.
It sucks that it only supports 10.5 and Intel Macs, but maybe they will be able to offer other support if they see significant demand for the product.
I will note it took me forever to find the download for it. NOT easy to find on their site. TY to wowinsider posting a updated link as I lost my bookmark for it recently.
Apr 14th 2009 9:59AM I can understand how Mac WoWMatrix users are going to feel pretty miffed with this announcement, but if it was costing tons on bandwidth from Curse and others as well as ad revenues that paid for their bandwidth, its a necessary evil that has to happen.
I do not want addon sites to go under as then its going to be a royal PITA to find them like back in the beginning of WoW. I would rather maybe see WoWMatrix team up and offer advertising on its program in ways that benefit Curse and WoWinterface.
I have yet to try out the Curse client, but I am guessing I will be going back to manual updating again, and that is going to be the major suck. WoWMatrix worked beautifully and flawlessly and its one excellent piece of software.
Apr 9th 2009 9:40AM Finally I get to see a picture of that Quel'Dorei steed again. Back when pictures of the mounts became available, the text was visible only for the Quel'Dorei steed. Since that is relating to High Elfs and there was already a Hawkstrider for the Blood Elves, this had me so god damn curious based on all the forum posts everywhere about lore and High Elves.
Now its pretty clear that it's a mount you can use for questing with the Silver Covenant. Maybe someday the Alliance can play them as a race as some folks have been hinting at this. But what cool race could we give our great Horde buddies... the Ogres come to mind as a popular choice among our friends. I know this is getting off topic, but lore wise were they not the ones who with goblin help, built the massive warships for the Horde, like that one Van Cleef is sitting on. But what would Ogre's ride around on? It would be big n huge like Taurens on Kodos or Mammoths! And right off the beginning the Ogres would have a insanely cool dance.
Hopefully Blizzard is taking hints as new races would be fun as long as it did give us some great new lore and added to the depth of WoW in a good way.
Apr 7th 2009 3:10PM I think I may Xfer one of my old alts there. I have this 70 Dwarven hunter I may send over there for the seal clubbing party. Maybe I will rename him with some fun seal clubbing name. Oh yeah, I will need to get a scroll of ownership for my pet to change it too.
I think its odd that PETA would come in game on a realm to do a protest and call out one of the factions as evil. All I can say is that I am pretty sure both the Horde and Alliance will be there. Many will probably slaughter everything in sight, while others may actually protest.
If only they could wear red paint and go try to get some help from the DHETA druids as they may possibly mistake that red paint for blood and then kill the PETA supporters. It would be a ROTFLMAO moment.
Mar 27th 2009 9:11AM The color changing ravagers you are thinking of are outside of Toshley Station in Blade's Edge Mountains. Its that gnome base thats on the upper terrain level around Death's Door I believe.
Anyways.. if you go north west just a matter of a hundred yards or so.. and or less,.. there is tons of ravagers to choose. Good thing now in the WoTLK, if you are say lvl 75 or 80, it will tame to lvl 70/75 respectively.... or only 5 levels less than yours.
Pretty freaking sweet. As for that IMBA rare cool spirit beast in the basin in Northrend.... he is on my list, as well as 1000 other hunters.
Mar 25th 2009 11:06AM I remember back in the early days of Arena. I played on my Enhance Shaman and after I got my resilience gear up and also made sure my dps was good, I could have a blast.
As times went with new seasons, we noticed that it started to become a lopsided bloodbath. Even after say a new season had been out for months.. we would run into the 2200 rated teams carrying a player when we were just 1500 rating. When season 4 hit it was so so bad and as the 3.0 patch eventually hit it only got worse for some, but of course greater for others.
Nowadays I do not do any arena due to the honest acceptance that my enhance Shaman is not good, except ok in a 5s team. It comes down to the actual class. DKs, Rogues and Ret Paladins own in their own respect. Many other combos like Warrior, Mage Priest in a 3s team or say rogue and resto druid in 2s.
The other annoying issue is that even after a new season launches and the player ability is supposed to even out... I still most often face 2000 plus rated teams when my own team is 1500. Even when we get close to playskill of say 1750 or higher... we face top tier teams repeatedly to get killed in less than a minute in 90percent of the matches.
I will say this.. I play as i love the fact that if we win, since we are better than average PVPers,.. it feels that much better, but we know that in the current game... getting to Gladiator is only for certain classes and of course.. players who do nothing but pvp.
Mar 16th 2009 2:56PM On Area 52 I think its 10 to 1 Horde vs Alliance and I must say it is always fun trying to win when you are severely outnumbered and a genuine underdog. I remember being in a few battles in WG when we were assaulting the fortress and had well over 10x Tenacity buff.
My enhance shaman would run into a crowd of tanks and start blowing them up when my tenacity would hit well into the high teens or so. It would still stake smart play to sneak our siege tanks thru to eventually get the inner door broken down, but having that kinda power is alot of fun even if you are on a realm where your faction is like mine and hugely outnumbered. Still we stick around where many have Xferred off.
It's especially fun when I run a Black War Bear raid every now and again as it kinda would miff any opposing faction that outnumbers you 10 to 1. You have to use your wits and smarts and spies on the other side to best choose your next course of action. Same goes in BGs like Wintergrasp. Adapt or get steamrolled.
Feb 24th 2009 4:22PM Earlier today I submitted that picture and info to wowinsider hoping they would comment on it when they do their next little stories. To my dismay the new article on the main page has no mention of this particular map.
Lets hope they update their article with some extra big long juicy amounts of information... oh wait, was that out loud LOL
ps.. for those with no clue.. click the link and see a giant penis on the dungeon map.
Feb 24th 2009 2:35PM The reason for the listing of 30x unique stack and 40x needed is to prevent folks from starting this quest in the PTR. They want us to be surprised when it comes out and not able to pre-farm any other materials.. if any.. for the quest you get.
Feb 24th 2009 2:30PM I hope us enhance Shamans get the option for a really really sick DPS melee mace as one of the options for that legendary quest. Of course the issue in many guilds will soon be... who gets the shards?
