The Queue: Acronymification, FWIW {WoW}

May 6th 2009 6:22PM "It's marginally more difficult than the other Children's Week achievements and it's pretty poorly designed...."

School of Hard Knocks is monumentally more difficult than the other Children's Week achievements, and much more difficult and time-consuming than any other achievement in the entire holiday meta, especially for players who have not played in a battleground before and don't know what the objectives and tactics are. Plus it pits you against other (frequently angry and vicious) players rather than the A.I. Saying it's "marginally" more difficult is like saying Alaska has only a marginally larger area than Rhode Island.

But yes, it was exceptionally poorly designed.

UPDATED: Brew of the Year removed from Brewmaster achievement on PTR {WoW}

Mar 6th 2009 3:48PM Last I read on this site, the Noblegarden achievements were not part of the overall meta for the drake, either live in 3.0.9 or in 3.1 on the PTR, so I don't know what pattern there is to follow if anyone complains about not finishing them.

Breakfast Topic: Did you accomplish what you wanted during the Love festival? {WoW}

Feb 16th 2009 10:08AM Only one new thing to say: @WoWInsider, you should have had another poll option:

Yes - got everything done I wanted to but I know a boatload of justifiably angry people who couldn't accomplish everything because they were screwed out of it by a random number generator, it was a disaster and should have never gone live.

UPDATED: Bag of candies working as intended {WoW}

Feb 13th 2009 3:13PM Ditto. Spending time, energy, effort, gold, or any combination of those to accomplish a goal is an achievement. A goal which may only be reached subject to the whim of random chance, especially for those with limited playtime, is not an achievement.
