Will dual specs eliminate the tank or healer shortage? {WoW}

Feb 17th 2009 12:49PM As all of this is anecdotal, as a Shadow Priest in a small raiding guild I love this upcoming change. I love playing Shadow; my guild has sufficient healing for raids that I am more useful playing utility/mana regen shadow for Naxx. And Shadow is much easier for me to run quests/dailies/etc.

However, for guild 5 man groups we need more healing. Currently in shadow spec, I can heal through Heroic UK. For heroics harder than that, my heals just aren't fast enough/mana efficient enough. Yes, I've respecc'd healing at times, but it's too much of a pain to fool with the buttons, rejigger talents, etc. And expensive.

To address the bad healing thing, yeah, I won't be good as our primary healers in my healing role, since I just don't have as much experience. But I CAN heal heroics, even off-spec. Just not the tough ones. Yes, I'll need to figure out the different spells and rotations and how best to use them. But I'm willing to do so.

The dual spec thing will definitely help guilds like mine, with the ability to run a lot more heroics and get people geared up.
