Oct 29th 2009 10:28AM This has been my concern over the new system since it was announced.
PUGs are a fairly effective tool to recruit new members and add to you friends list. That's how I got involved with my guild anyway. With the new tool, you aren't going to bump into the people in your group in Dalaran, because they are on a different realm.
Back in vanilla, there were some rather intense guild rivalries that developed on my realm due to all of the skirmishing in TM/Southshore, and running into the same people all the time in realm specific battle grounds. The move to battle groups certainly decreased queue times, but they essentially killed that social aspect of the game.
I'm really afraid that 5mans are going to become just like BGs, instanced minigames that you do in between raids.
Aug 18th 2009 2:34PM I'm in the same boat as you. My main server is at the character limit with all 10 leveled up above 60, which is above my "delete and reroll" threshold.
I'm hopeful that concurrent with the expansion of the race/class combinations, Blizzard will allow within faction race changes. I'd like to switch to switch my priest and paladin to Tauren, but those two toons being 80 and raid geared, I'm really not thrilled that my only option would be to delete them and reroll them up to 85.
Aug 17th 2009 8:07PM Who made you the arbiter of "geek cred?" A girl has got to eat and pay Blizzard those subscription fees somehow. Kudos to her if she can do so acting in commercials for Sears.
Aug 17th 2009 3:23PM There is a lot of auto-tune, but I take it as a parody of it's heavy use in modern pop and dance music.
Check out Dr. Horrible's Sing-a-Long Blog for an example of Felicia's singing without the auto-tune enhancements. It's not used heavily in this song/video because she needs it.
Jul 30th 2009 4:44PM Yes, jousting is fast easy gold and seals, but that doesn't mean that it is fun.
Gearing up a fresh 80 alt and maintaining my main I was trying to do the dailies everyday, however, I have burned myself out on them after getting my tanking axe on my pally. They just aren't any fun. I haven't looked at the new dailies yet to see if I'm going to finish up the Crusader title for the other dailies. All signs point to no right now.
The tournament sucks.
Jul 20th 2009 10:12PM That priest statement caught my eye if only because my main is a shadow priest.
I feel like I want to be a shadow priest, however, to be quite frank, I feel like the shadow priest sucks lately. That makes me not want to play the game, so I don't sign up for raids and I've cancelled my sub. I play a priest to be a shadow priest not to heal. I'll come back if they fix priest dps.
The other shadow priests I know have all gone disc to try something new since they already knew that they didn't like holy. That's why there's so many at the moment in my opinion.
Jun 8th 2009 3:48PM My raid is currently in week 3 of our 25-man raiding hiatus after losing our tanks and several key DPS to a combination of RL, burn-out, and unmet expectations with the launch of Ulduar. 10-mans have been nigh impossible to fill since so few are logged on with out anything on the schedule.
I plan on spending my summer leveling my alts that have gone unplayed since LK launched (yay BoA items!), raiding 10 mans very casually on said alts, and trying to cheese my way into someone's 25s with my main as a PUG (people are looking for spriests, right?). Hopefully people will come back motivated when the mercury starts to drop again.
There's and ebb and flow to the raid game, we went through the same thing in BC in SSC/TK and came back to finish MH/BT, though Sunwell remained out of reach. With the current philosophy that Blizz has regarding their raids and accessability I exepect we will get to see all of it, we'll just fall behind the curve a bit.
Apr 30th 2009 2:41PM Take a second look, it's in there. I've been dreading Children's Week solely because of this achievement. It realy does encourage behavior in the battlegrounds that is counter productive to the overall team goal, in favor of individual achievement.
Blizz says, "Yes, there is and I in 'teIam.' "
Feb 18th 2009 3:01PM Hopefully this will end up being a Chess 2.0 encounter in terms of difficulty.
Let's stop pretending that vehicle fights are a new mechanic introduced in WotLK, they aren't. MC fights have been around since Razorgore in BWL. We have Razuvious in Naxx, Chess in Kara, and Teron Gorefiend in BT. Sure you aren't driving a tank or motorcycle, you are controlling a mob with an action bar with a reduced number of abilities which are all needed for a portion or the entirety of the fight. That description sounds and awful lot like vehicle combat to me.
I hate MC fights. I raid as a shadow priest so that means I have the pleasure of MCing Razuvious every week. I can't wait to be done with Naxx so I never have to do that again. I always petition the raid to start in that wing instead of spider just so we can get that fight out of the way. I don't mind the MCs required on Faerlina since they are a small portion of the fight.
Every single MC encounter or quest has felt clunky with the default UI nevermind custom UIs which are a mess. The first couple of attempts at them are usually disasterous since people haven't played with the MC bar and need some time to get used to it. Without any means to practice using the vehicles outside of the encounter, learning is expensive in terms of repair bills and consumables costs. Aces High was an exception to this and a nice addition. While not exactly a 100% replication of the fight solo, a group of 5 could do the quest and pretty accurately replicate Maly P3 with 4 DPS/1 Heal. I would hope that similar quests are implemented in 3.1 that allow use of the exact vehicles in the Ulduar fight.
I'll wait and see how it plays out before passing judgement, but I'm certainly not at all enthused to see that Ulduar will start with a vehicle fight, the same way that many of you are. It's required to do the rest of the raid so I'll slog through it regardless of whether or not I have fun doing it. Just like I do 2x a week with Raz and Maly.
Feb 18th 2009 12:36AM Mark me down in the disappointed column.
As a shadow priest that's been MC'ing Razuvious for all of T7, I am sick of MC/vehicle bosses and quests. At least a quest is a one time deal, but MC fights really aren't all that interesting the 10th time that you do them.
It has gotten to where I can't wait to get out of Naxx so I never have to do Raz again. To hear that the first fight required for Uld will be an MC fight is a bit of a downer for me personally. Hopefully it will be an easy fight and we can quickly get past it and moving on to the real bosses. Easy as in Chess 2.0 easy.
