Jul 14th 2009 11:53AM Actually there are level 72 (green to an 80) mobs in just about any place which required a flying mount to reach. The ogres above Shatt are a good example.
Jul 1st 2009 11:08PM It was meant as a lighthearted jab at myself, rather than the column. I actually find Blood Pact stimulating, challenging, and exceptionally enjoyable.
But thanks =P
Jun 20th 2009 6:53PM I appreciate your defense of my writing, Maddkoww, but I actually must disagree with you. This blog should be judged for its writing as much as it should be judged for anything else.
I've spent many years studying the English language in all its beauty and nuance, and while my writing often falls below my expectations, I do take a great deal of pleasure in crafting something that is beautiful. Even if I often end up with the literary equivalent of a finger painting.
I encourage people to analyze and critique my style. It's one of my favorite parts of this job.
Jun 20th 2009 8:17AM If it makes you feel better, I read every single comment posted, and consider them carefully. I take criticism particularly seriously, and in fact, the style I wrote this column in is a reaction to a very strong trend of criticism I've been receiving for awhile now.
I read, and considered your comment carefully. I think you you have some good premises, but that your conclusion is ultimately unsound.
Perhaps a good way to avoid being thought of as a troll, in the future, is to avoid wildly presumptuous statements such as referring to my work as a first draft. Additionally, using obviously untrue criticisms (my comment about finals week did not break the fourth wall, nor was it a parenthetical statement. THIS is a parenthetical statement) comes off as an attempt to get a rise out of me.
Like I said, however, you make some good points. A few months ago, I would have agreed with you. But my experience writing for WoW.com has forced me to change my outlooks on a lot of things.
Your criticism was very honestly appreciated. Please continue to critically analyze my work. It's the only way I'll improve. =P
Jun 20th 2009 7:48AM Eye of Kilrogg was on my list, actually, and I had all sorts of tricks to pass on. Like all the times I managed to avoid fighting elites that would have slaughtered me by using Eye of Kilrogg to grab a quest item that was on the other side of a wall.
However, I decided recently that my posts in the past may have been too short sighted. Only once have I dedicated more than a single post to a given topic. With this post I decided to experiment with being less complete, but more thorough.
Jun 11th 2009 11:59AM I did not mean to imply that Rain of Fire doesn't crit, I was simply trying to indicate that the damage range specified was the non-crit damage range.
Jun 6th 2009 7:04PM As the DM, I'll actually be doing my best to make sure the cultists kick their butts. I even included a classic "the walls are closing in!" trap! Bwuahaha!
Jun 4th 2009 9:34PM No, it actually was not. But it was me who deleted your earlier comment viciously attacking another reader to satisfy a pet peeve.
I'm inclined to say that's what your implication is actually about.
I'm pretty tolerant of comments posted on my columns. I'm alright with people who hate what I write and how I write it. But I won't tolerate your attempts to bait me, and others, into an open flame war.
I will remove any such comments with haste.
May 26th 2009 7:49PM Random info about me: I really really hate dogs. A lot.
As such, my only experience with a Lab was the one my dad had when I was 8 or so. The thing was bigger than me, and if I was in the same room it would jump on top of me or otherwise knock me over.
So, they're aggressive in my experience. But I'm honestly not all that familiar with them. If I was wrong then oops. =P
May 26th 2009 7:30PM @Madmartigan:
"if I was hired to write a weekly column on good hygiene and wrote an article on how I made an awesome chicken soup, I'd get fired or my article wouldn't get published."
This is an excellent point. And in light of it, I'm curious:
Is the fact that I still work here an indication that my bosses don't care whether or not I do my job, or is it perhaps an indication that you've made some incorrect assumptions about what my job is?
