Jun 17th 2011 11:05AM "We changed several Balance druid mechanics to cut down on the damage they could do while moving in both PvP and PvE and to cut back on some of their strength in multi-dot fights in PvE. Furthermore, we felt like druids were spending too much time at one end or the other of the Eclipse bar by using dots rather than moving the bar back and forth as intended....."
Hey BLIZZ, BALANCE IS BROKEN!!!!!!!!!!! Just keep making it worse, way to go.
Jun 10th 2011 9:33PM Good article, although, you have to admit, a little late in the game. I learned this the hard way only about a month ago with my DPS swinging widely between fights and different times in the fight (downed cho'gall for the first time last week). I've had times where I'll just sunfire spam, insect swarm and mushroom for upwards of a minute, just to be sure I'm in solar when needed. The DPS difference is pretty huge as mentioned. I've also, after reading some posts, not even bothered with rotation and just solar spammed a fight with not much dps loss. (I wish Blizz would fix eclipse one of these days)
I know I read this when Cat came out but I don't remember atm, does it matter where in the solar eclipse you are (e.g. at the far right or near the center) in terms of 'solar power' and thus dps potential? (ie. can I fire off a starsurge proc or two during the eclipse, which moves me towards lunar, as long as I stay in solar w.o reducing my solar damage multiplier?)
Jun 10th 2011 9:21PM So can I purchase my 4 piece set or do I still need token drops from the likes of Cho'gall?
May 20th 2011 8:23PM Pretty much put my druid on the bench (my main from day 1). The shapeshift nerf killed PvP and Balance is just sucking to play atm. I'm prob 1 mo. away from canceling my account. It's sad times for druids, almost as sad as back in vanilla.
May 7th 2011 2:26PM As a hiring manager I don't see a lot of upside as listing WoW, even though I play. It's a little like, if you have enough room on your resume to list this, then there's some serious short comings. On the other hand, if you were a Raid Leader or GM of one of THE TOP WoW guilds, then it might be something to consider bringing up in the interview based on the conversation. Even then, I wouldn't put it on the resume and clearly wouldn't read like
2005 to Present - GM in the most popular MMO on the planet.
Managed a large team of diverse people across the world. Responsible for recruiting, firing. Excellent organization time management skills and an elixir master to boot. Max level in all professions. Manages a stable of alts for any situation.
It's funny how sports teams, colleges, other hobbies etc. are relatively fair topics of discussion, but there's a little stigmatization with games and MMOs and I'm sure as the population ages and every hiring manager has played WoW, in 10-20 years, if any WoW players have jobs then, it might be different.
May 6th 2011 7:36PM I don't understand... Your the raid leader of the group, if you want to do ICC, you do ICC. Then deal with the fallout and see where to go from there. It's a game, no a freaking job.
I'd bet 95+% of people that say they can do better can't.
May 6th 2011 7:29PM @Tyler - Article is excellent, keep up the good work, no need to apologize.
May 6th 2011 4:39PM Needing an article this long to explain the change, including a very confusing rotation recommendation here, should make it clear that this is a totally LAME change.
From the feral shapeshift nerf, to the starsurge nerf, tell me 1 buff the druid have gotten? A tiny buff to efflor? That was a bug fix IMHO. Moving the living seed talent - wow fixing something that was already broken and should have never made live.
I play 4 different toons at 85 and others from 60 on. The boomkin is one of the worst toons to play atm. Blizz is so keen on getting Wild Mushrooms in the rotation, they are screwing the whole class. Yeah, we can do GREAT dps on some multi-target fights, but single target is lacking (my ilvl 346 hunter does more dps than my 359 2 piece boom on single, w.o even trying hard)
I tried an experiment yesterday on Bot and BWD. I got a solar eclipse and just spammed sunfire and mushrooms, on single and multi target, this stupid rotation was just about the same as normal rotation dps on single target.
Additionally, timing the solar eclipse for adds in say Cho'gall or on the air phase of Atremedes, is part of playing a boom. Now, they take this away and put something WORSE in place.
You want to know why booms get a solar eclipse and spam sunfire in PvP? One, because it does decent damage. Two, because it's the ONLY way to play boom in PvP to any good results. Blizz needs to fix this.
We have hurricane, and mushrooms, they need to fix these and while they need to fix the 'Eclipse' mechanic, they are going about it all wrong. Blizz also can't 'fix' classes based around tier set bonuses. They should be set bonuses that enhance the class not break it even more.
PS: ever try to macro a moonfire button? Can't because you can't cast moonfire or sunfire depending on eclipse state.
My recommendation is eclipse state needs to be a cooldown state, just like most of the other classes have, Rapid Fire etc. This will fix it once and for all. What's the diff. blizz is homogenizing the whole game anyway. DK brez ftw.
QQ off again
Apr 27th 2011 8:53PM So why did blizz change the arena points to be harder??? Starting out is already hard enough winning 5 games, when you have full vicious clad toons coming in with their buddies at a low rating. I don't understand this change at all. AND you can go from PvP to PvE but not vice versa?
@nearlysober - You'd be lucky to win 25% of your games if your starting out now, never mind 40.
