Reader UI of the Week: Ozmorgius' UI and simplicity for tanks {WoW}

Apr 27th 2011 10:17AM Any chance Mik's Scrolling Battle Text gets updated for 4.1? I already missing it greatly, and if not is there any viable replacement? I've seen some UIs that have the text way off the the left and right, almost in chat like windows. that ha always intrigued me.

WoW Rookie: How to learn mouse turning {WoW}

Apr 14th 2011 7:30PM This is a good question. This was WAY HUGE for me, I use a logitech G5 mouse that has two buttons on the thumb, that I map to Shift and CTRL. The beauty is that this gives me 3 combos for every button, (e.g. 1, shift-1, CTRL-1). I didn't map the ALT button because I only have two buttons on the mouse and am still looking for that elusive 3 thumb button mouse. I know they make some sick '180 buttons mice', but I've tried them and it's too many, I just need a third for ALT and I'm super G2G.

The one thing that's got me is I'm a, Q and E strafer, (Not sure if this was the original DOOM config or what, but I can't break that habit). The issue I have is that it's difficult to hit the 1 and 3 button while doing this, and that's usually key abilities.

I've also noticed that some classes are much more 'movement' intensive. Like the hunter. One reason it's key as a hunter is that the hunter autoshots, so if you turn and run, then you don't shoot your next autoshot, unless you turn around. I'm a good jump turner, but this still is not the most efficient as during a boss fight, you can lose significant DPS by just missing a few shots here and there, esp. with Wild Quiver.

The Classifieds: Data makes the world go round {WoW}

Apr 13th 2011 7:37PM Are these logs for real? I mean 10Normal avg ranged DPS is between 24K and 28K? Omnotron 20-28K? I've been in 5-6 different 10 mans on my realm and I can safely say the avg from my WOL is about 15-16K.

Bashiok comments on WoW's difficulty, accessibility {WoW}

Apr 11th 2011 3:51PM I think Blizz has to be commended for some of the accessibility changes they've made. It was so hard to put a 5 man together on my server on WotlK after a certain while, it was so bad I just stopped running instances outside of guild. LFG came alone and was literally a game changer. It also got me back into the game. BoA, Heirlooms, there's a lot of good. Removing arena skirmishes, completely and utterly stupid.

Blizz also has a long way to go IMHO. As a kingslayer and fan of raiding, and of a guild that has just self destructed, access to raid content needs to be made easier. I didn't say raid content needs to be made easier, but ACCESS to it. I've been on my realm from the start of my WoW career, it was bout 50-50 alli/horde when I started, then about 35-65 alli/horde and with faction change it got even worse. There's barely 4 alli raiding guilds ranked on WowProgress for Alli.

There needs to be cross realm raids and LFR ASAP. I would put this at the VERY TOP of Blizz's priority list.

Personally, I'm done leveling alts, I can imaging leveling another toon through the grind (4 85s, random 40-70s). I want to raid and I don't want to constantly change realms or apply to guilds. to access content. Guilds are great, don't get me wrong, but I've seen a lot of GMs just falling off the face of the earth, even with the guild leveling.

Blizz needs to make raid content easier to access. I can't believe that cross realm raids would be that hard to implement, esp. because the raid is instanced and not associated with a realm. This might be the only change that keeps me subscribing to WoW.

Two Bosses Enter: Erudax vs. Lady Naz'jar {WoW}

Apr 5th 2011 11:06AM I'm usually on board with the majority of winning bosses, but in the case I went with Lady N. Her adds will easily take down Erudax's adds, as they just run for eggs and she'll easily maneuver Shadow Gale. I think we need an American Idol save here, because the Lady wins this one rather easily.

Ask the Devs Round 2 PvP questions answered {WoW}

Mar 24th 2011 9:59AM Hi,

Use them all the time, but have to choose between that an a free cyclone. Additionally we have to change form X 2 and in the end the healing touches are weak and feeling weaker each patch.

Breakfast Topic: How about some hot, tasty delayed gratification? {WoW}

Mar 24th 2011 9:55AM For some strange reason, I love to save talent points (at certain times), typically 3-4. Probably not the best strategy. I also seem to delay hitting major levels, 60,70,85. I have many toons at the 9s, just because I have 4 85s and really don't like the end game grind. I actually wish I could de-level some of my toons. I'll also savor a level ding and grind so hard to get a toon within a bar of leveling then wait there a while. :)

I'm having a big problem with the DK, Warrior, Rogue healing abilities. As I've seen DKs heal for hundreds of thousands, Warrriors going from 5% health to 60K+ and Rogues, while not great, with game changing heals through recuperation. All of these can be done while being focused with almost no drawback. (Almost the key word). Whereas a druid, I have to shapeshift, be lucky to get a heal off, then it heals for nothing.

PTR Patch 4.1: New code hints at random dungeon change {WoW}

Mar 18th 2011 12:11AM @Saedame

I've played since Wrath, so longer then some, shorter than others. I know many people that have transferred realms. You can see lots of posts on the wow forums, you'll meet people on other realms. What I find is that you typically don't need a 'whole' PuG, but often a group of folks that need some additions, and often those additions can become perms.

I really don't think it's a big technological issue for Blizz, as the raids are instanced. I wonder how much $$ bliz makes though on the transfers and all.

PTR Patch 4.1: New code hints at random dungeon change {WoW}

Mar 17th 2011 7:29PM The LFG change was revolutionary for Wow. This would be yet another 'quality of life' change and they should do this across the board, for dailies (e.g. JC), rep, quests etc. As a 9-5 worker that travels and can't play for days sometimes, I love this idea.

Considering how bad they've nerfed my beloved druid, I have to admit this seemingly 'little' changes keep me coming back to the game, esp. with my growing stable of alts.

There's a ton of other changes that Blizz can make along these lines, daily quests, rep quest (btw I HATE rep grinding more than anything and wish blizz fixed this). Doing the SAME dailies day after day? Definition of insanity. Tabbards are awesome, but rep grinding blows, esp. for top enchants, that raid leaders require. For mounts or non-essential items, sure go for it.

The next big change blizz MUST make is the cross realm raiding. A bitpart of raiding comes down to when you can raid. For me it's 2-3 nights a week and specific nights and times. Yes , I do other things besides WOW. There's literally on 4 guilds on my server that Raid 25 mans and only 1 on the days I can make it. It's slim pickings (I know there's realm transfers etc.) but you get to know a group of people, you have alts, you do decide to transfer then that guild implodes etc.

I could easily make a list of 100 things that Blizz could do to make this game better and not drastically change the character, purpose or achievement.
