Mar 20th 2009 8:34AM After reading every single comment, I have to say that a good 75% of posts are coming from people who lack knowledge about the design of PvE and how the end-game actually works.
Hybrid classes should be about 5% below pure DPS classes. This varies depending on the encounter, but this exact number has been reiterated by GC over and over again. Currently, on Live in Naxx, that's where we are. If you're topping the charts as a Ret Pally, even in Naxx, your guild's DPS is lackluster. Those who complain that a Ret Pally is out DPSing them with similar gear, despite being a pure DPS, need to stop and re-examine the actual problem.
On the PTR, our DPS is where Ele Shamans were when 3.0 came out. Bottom of the charts... even in NAXX, where we should excel. This needs to be addressed, although it doesn't look like it will be, before the patch goes Live.
The bottom line - for those who complain about Ret's current damage - learn more about the topic at hand, please.
Feb 24th 2009 9:08AM Don't forget about Ulduar containing Giant mobs (most likely), effectively losing 3% damage through Crusade... loss of the Sense Undead glyph (1% damage), around 5% damage loss from the RV/Fanaticism nerf, around 1% damage from Holy Wrath... and you're looking at a potential 10% damage loss.
I know not everything's final, but let's hope all of these Ret changes don't make it live.
