The Daily Quest: The Cataclysm raiding debate {WoW}

Apr 27th 2010 7:38PM Believe it or not, some people such as myself actually do find 25 man raiding more fun than 10 man raiding. Just as it is your opinion that it is less fun to raid 25 mans because you're only there for the gear, it is my opinion that people who raid solely for better loot are missing the point of playing a MMORPG.

Arcane Brilliance: Patch 3.2 for Mages {WoW}

Jun 21st 2009 7:36AM @Daniel

What are you talking about? Raiding *is* PvE, but PvE does not specifically mean raiding. That being said, raiding and 5 man dungeons are about all that comprise the term PvE when mentioned in conjunction with balancing specs (no, I don't think you really need to balance classes around grinding...). And since the changes to class balance are more visible and arguably more important for raids, that's what most people consider-rightfully-when talking about PvE balance. As for frost, no it's not viable in almost all current raid encounters. Viable can come across as too strict a word for some, because sure you could play frost and probably do more damage than a lot of people in a raid, but the fact of the matter is that switching from frost to frostfire/fire/arcane will undoubtedly boost your dps by a good noticeable amount, which you wouldn't be able to attain with frost.

A lot of mages would just like to see Frost boosted enough, into the range of "viable," and we've been asking for a damn long time now.

Officers' Quarters: Time for another rant {WoW}

Mar 16th 2009 3:05PM @ SarahTheGnome

The problem with this argument is that you are assuming that, "Guidleaders and officers do nothing but serve a guild and its best interests," while a lot of us do not. There aren't perfect officers everywhere, and in fact, there's a lot that serve their own interests moreso than they should (on a great degree of scale depending upon the person).

The grey area here is that in some guilds it's hard to tell if your officers are truly good, wholehearted people. I've been in guilds where the leaders do put in the effort to set up all guild events and make sure every incident is worked out, only to find out later that all the while they were doing what could be a multitude of unwarranted, selfish things (taking a steady amount of gold from the gbank for personal reasons, giving away free DKP with no justification, letting people sit out of a raid and play their alt because they "don't want to go" and let them reap the benefits of it).

Yes, I do believe that officers that do their job FOR the guild first, deserve to be respected and treated well.

Arcane Brilliance: Changes to the Fire tree {WoW}

A properly geared arcane (57/3/11) mage *should* be outdpsing a properly geared FFB (and sometimes fireball) mage.
