Feb 15th 2011 6:08PM Whilst you 12k HPS is great, it's only possible using a healing style that is totally unviable in 10 mans.
I more or less never use Healing Rain, unless it's a fight I can afford to throw mana away like Magmaw, and even then it's not that great because the Holy Pally pops Radiance and the Holy Priest drops Sanctuary and everyone is healed up before half of Rain's duration is up.
I know we scale well with the size of the raid and with the difficulty of the fight, but I'd like to be able to do competitive healing on the entry level 10 man raids too.
Disc and Resto Druids seem to have gotten a nice buff from 4.0.6 but with the healing style available to me I haven't gone up by more than a couple percent, well within the margin for error.
Jul 26th 2009 8:58PM My experience is pretty much the opposite of that described in the article. My main is a resto Shaman and I never had any problems healing 5 mans. Sure a DPS could pull off the tank, take more damage than I can heal and die, but that's the fault of either the DPS or the tank.
On my recently 80 Prot Paladin I get worried if a DPS or Healer takes aggro for even a second. If two people get aggro at the same time it's much worse because I can't just click Righteous Defense on the person with aggro in grid, I have to actually look for the mob and get it back manually, while mainting threat on all the others still.
Compared to the whack-a-mole that is healing (I love healing and there is a lot of skill to it but) there is a lot more to do as a tank and more you can do wrong, especially in 5-mans. Maybe it's just that I'm much more experienced with healing though.
Of course this comment is going to be on the 5th page or later so who the hell is even gonna read it?
Jul 12th 2009 8:57PM My guild got our first Mimiron kill on Saturday night and I think we all agree it's a great fight. It's very technical without being super punishing, and none of the phases last so long that it feels like an endurance fight.
Stars seem to be quite a nice bunch, in stark contrast to the US and EU guilds like Ensidia et. al. who seem rather petty.
Jul 11th 2009 9:20PM I agree with pretty much everything you've said. My main is a Resto first, Ele second Shaman so the Elemental problems hit me less hard, but my Elemental set is largely Resto gear gemmed for hit, and my DPS clearly suffers for it. I also feel like Elemental is unfairly balanced taking into account the amazing array of caster buffs we provide while getting at best an extra 3% haste and 3% crit (if you can bribe your mage for it) in return.
Although I've been trained to avoid spirit I think it would be great to make it a usefull stat. I also love the idea of making it a choice for Resto between haste from the Elemental tree or crit from Enhancement.
In my opinion Elemental is also one of, it not the, most boring DPS classes to play. I hope to see some more interesting mechanics introduced, but don't expect anything until the next expansion.
Mar 18th 2009 8:41AM My guild (Equilibrium - Saurfang US) almost did a 0% wipe on our first 10 man Sapph kill but were instead saved by a DK who rezzed in Ghoul form just long enough to finish him off whilst everyone else was dead, the cheers on vent were deafening.
