Addon devs respond to Blizzard UI policy changes {WoW}

Mar 24th 2009 10:42AM @ Glyff:
"Good change by Blizzard. Maybe now people will actually read quests and learn directions instead of blindly running around doing what QuestHelper tells them."

If this is what people want to do, what's it to you? People like different aspects of the game. Some people love to read the quests as some kind of an RP standpoint. On the other hand, a lot of people like running around doing quests as fast as possible for the fastest xp or gold they can get. Making people "read the quests" was on the bottom of the list of reason for Blizzard making this change, I'm sure.

@ Aigarius:
"Adds and donation requests in game are annoying." You only see these if you download addons that add advertisements and donation requests...in which case, if it annoys you....UNINSTALL IT. Annoyance: yet another reason that I'm sure was at the bottom of Blizzard's list of reasons.

@ SINisterWyvern:

"Blizzard is completely opposed to anyone having an advantage based on spending real life money. It was just buying gold before, but gaining advantage by buying add-ons? Makes sense to me."

Now this actually sounds like an argument that I could support and would actually believe that Blizzard took into consideration when making the decision that they made.

Not the mindless, "ADDONS R DUMB AND UR SUCH A NUB 4 USING IT OMFGLMAO L2P SCRUBSSZZZ!"

"Making addons for a videogame as a hobby is one thing, but trying to pay for your rent by doing so is, quite frankly, really stupid."

Tell this to the creators of Myspace and Facebook or even the Blizzard developers for that matter. All Blizzard did was come up with an idea, put it into code and sell it. Or any other person who comes up with their own ideas and tries to make money off of them. The fact that people can take an idea they have and try to make money off of it is the whole reason this country rose as a super power.

"Lots of stupid people can't pay their rent. Deal with it. Hopefully you'll learn from your mistakes and get a real job next time."

Telling someone to get a "real job" and leaving it at that would produce absolutely no creativity, enginuity or new inventions. How many times do you think someone told video game developers to "get a real job."

"after all, with fewer people making addons, whose ideas will blizzard crib?"

I love this statement. Biggest case in point, the new "equipment manager."

I personally don't see why Blizzard is getting all pissy about a few other select people are making a little bit of money off of adding their own ideas to the game. Seems like they're just playing the greed game to me.

Undocumented changes in Patch 3.1 on the PTR {WoW}

Feb 24th 2009 11:33AM You had to know it was coming. I play a Frost tank, and when I dps I'm a frost DPS as well. Simply because Howling Blast was so incredibly OP. I knew it was coming, but I didn't see some of the other huge nerfs they hit DK's with.
