Apr 2nd 2011 1:44PM Why oh why do I get so many ads throughout the internets that tell me how much I should try the WoW free trial? Don't the ad-making algorithms get that, if I search WoW all the time, I probably ALREADY PLAY IT?
Aug 18th 2009 9:47AM I'm a frost mage, and I always forget my cold snap. It instantly finishes the cooldown on all other frost spells.
I always feel like a nut because I'll nova an enemy and kill it and then get jumped by another one, and I then I end up running around madly kiting the enemy, using ice barrier, while I frantically wait for my nova cooldown to be up.
It's always AFTER the fight that I remember... oh right, I could have used cold snap... haha.
May 1st 2009 1:59PM I thought that this was not too bad. WoW is part of pop-culture and is not immune to the general sexy-woman theme that is prominent in our media and societal conciousness. Women as well as men find sexy women attractive. This may or may not speak to a greater problem, depending on what you believe. I personally think it does, but I don't think WoW is really a major culprit of sexism here. After all, many of the female characters in the game are unattractive (orcs, dwarfs, undead etc) some are moderately attractive (gnomes, humans) and only a few are really very sexy (night and blood elves, draenei). I remember EQ1 where EVERY woman race was super sexy and also scantily clad whenever you rolled her.
I think you can address sexism in WoW as a whole if you want and that's a reasonable fight. But personally, as a woman, I thought the whole bunny ears thing was fun and silly. Yes, I got the 18+ joke. It's a part of our culture, and WoW was playing off of it. It was a lot more harmless, in my opinion, than real life porn-related references. I had fun both finding an orc and a dwarf and also being chased, usually in good fun, for being a female troll. I don't like when over-sensitiveness takes away from the good spirit of a fun game.
Feb 27th 2009 11:52AM This doesn't seem to be articulated (maybe because its obvious?)... but for the total pet-collecting newbie, realize you can't actually buy the other faction's pets from their vendors! You will have to buy them off the AH. This is good because its even easier than your faction ones (although a little more expensive)- I went to the nuetral AH and bought the entire suite of Alliance pets for about 4g each from a single buyer, who obviously makes her money from selling them all.
By the way, don't buy the opposing faction's pet from your own auction house! Hop over to Booty Bay - they are guaranteed cheaper.
Feb 27th 2009 11:44AM I believe (although I could be wrong) that you need to be level 4 to pick up the quest.
Also, Westfall is pretty deadly to a level 1 character. If you grind to at least level 5 you'll survive atl east two hits by the mobs running around :)
