Apr 4th 2012 3:26PM Did you notice the heart near the waitress, too? That's mutual feelings right there...
Apr 3rd 2012 4:59PM The principle at work here is called "unconscious privilege". Most men (and I'll admit I'm making an assumption when I believe that the quest text was created by a man, but that is the way to bet) don't consider the many angles of language because they rarely if ever are spoken to in a similar fashion. And by "similar fashion", I mean in a way that they would consider demeaning. Their awareness suffers from this, so when they speak to a woman using language similar to Firepaw's, they don't understand (and often disagree) that it's a problem.
Apr 3rd 2012 12:33PM "Taking out Orgrimmar" isn't going to happen. I mean, unless you have some evidence showing Org will be a shattered crater like Theramore.
Apr 3rd 2012 7:43AM I honestly do not get it. Paul said he'd never roll a panda, which is very clearly a *preference* decision of his, and you people downvote the comment to black? WHY???
Seriously, folks, you gotta quit using the downvoting system like this.
Apr 3rd 2012 7:35AM "Didn't get your beta invite yet? Well, WE DID, and we're busy tooling all over it, and we're gonna tell you all about it, and... Still don't have yours? Great! We'll keep telling you stuff, then!"

Apr 2nd 2012 12:58PM Let's remember to keep the responsibility for the Alliance's predicament squarely on the shoulders of those who put us here and continue to craft the story: Blizzard's development teams.
This isn't me trashing on them. But when I read about how "the Alliance" needs to do this or that, or the players need to feel like so, I'm reminded of a moment at a Star Trek convention I attended years ago when Michael Okuda (FX guy for STTNG and later series) was asked why something on the ship worked the way it did. His reply: "Because it's in the script."
The people writing the script **tell** us "Hey, Alliance, we love you too", but their actions... in this case, the script they write for the game... demonstrates where their true values and feelings lie. And they lie with the Horde.
Mar 31st 2012 9:16AM Unless... the server architecture that's being tested is a genuine cloud. [Pure Speculation Follows]
If they redesigned their server architecture to use a genuine cloud infrastructure, they could essentially have a "single" server environment that simply (yeah, I know, "ha, simply") expands as needed, drawing more resources as demand increases, and "collapsing" when the load is less. They *could* test that using the large beta pool of users at the same time as testing the game.
If the test was successful, they could roll that out to the existing pool of servers in stages. First, virtualize the servers (if they haven't already) and assign each its own space in the cloud. Eventually, you could consolidate the servers with the end goal being having no "realms" at all. Just one big game space.
Hm... I'd love to see their datacenter.
Mar 31st 2012 12:56AM I hope it's not terribly soon. The beta forums are loaded with people reporting bugs, missing graphics and quests... The usual items you find in a beta, but not a late stage beta.
Mar 30th 2012 12:09AM So in my email tonite, I see a beta invite from Blizz... for Diablo 3. Major letdown.
Mar 29th 2012 2:28PM @eel5pe: You don't think Blizz has time for cultural references when there are character models to rebuild?
Have you *been* in Uldum? Or Redridge? Or Westfall?
