Mar 21st 2012 4:54PM @ Fox,
Your article provides good advice to newcomers to the tactic; however, it is missing a very important part which is transferring your character as a guild transfer.
The guild transfer significantly increases:
* the gold cap you can transfer over with; and,
* the amount of mats/items you can bring with you - guild bank tabs ftw!
Oh, and I'm sure we are going to see a future post about how [once again] Inscription is going to be ludicrously profitable in Mists (did anyone miss that they have entirely re-done the Glyphs structure and added more glyphs); I'd expect the pandamonium (see what I did there?!) of new Pandaren's to be buying glyphs long before they are buying gems or enchants or flasks.
Nov 30th 2011 10:16PM Patch 4.3 has brought about some great ideas and functionality; however, it is disappointing to see good ideas poorly implemented.
Case in point: you can only store some of your soulbound tabards in Void Storage, the rest you have to continue to keep half way across town in your regular bank account. There is an error message that pops up about 'unique' items despite each Cataclysm faction tabard being different from each other.
Also, Blizzard missed a chance to give users more functionality when they combined Transmogrifying and Void Storage in the same Ethereal's shop: there is no way to apply the look of something in your Ethereal-managed Void Storage to something you are wearing through the Ethereal-managed Transmog service. Duh.
Last but not least, did Blizzard really not foresee players getting too much distance between them and Thrall and glitching the script in the new heroic?
Jun 3rd 2009 12:55PM Two features:
1) Paid character race change. Mechanically, they already have the ability to change male to female and vice-versa. This means, a small extension would enable them to change the model not just from male to female (and all the features and colors) but also to change the base race model out. Sure, they'd have to do a check to make sure it was not on a pvp server or if it was that it was the only toon on that server; however, that is an easy line of code to add into the function. I think this alone would be a massive - MASSIVE - improvement in options offerings to players that decide they wish to be Horde instead of Alliance and vice versa. It would be a true boon if they allowed during a character transfer, to pay for a race change (which would allow for a full customization including name).
2) True Player vs Player servers - instead of this Faction vs. Faction server thing they have going that they call player vs. player. Blizzard could continue to offer 'faction vs. faction' servers however they could in addition offer servers which would allow players to engage any player regardless of their faction. Yes, you too can defend your mining node against that pesky same-faction player that wants to ninja it! No need to remove the dual function - just add a server that removes the inhibitor preventing Alliance from striking Alliance and Horde from striking Horde in the general whereabouts. There are plenty of examples of servers that have this (all are non-Blizzard products) and it generates a tremendous socialization between the players -- they tend to venture out together with trusted partners instead of soloing all the content -- all of which fosters principles Blizzard has reinforced time and again as important to them.
Mar 4th 2009 11:54AM Wow! Allison, this is the best article I have read on WoW Insider or elsewhere in a very, long time. We can all only hope that you continue to find the kind of time to prepare articles that this one must have taken.
Wow! Well done! Can't wait for the next article from you!
