Doing something nice for other players {WoW}

Sep 30th 2009 8:35PM I rememeber this one time, someone was looking to buy 6-8 spider's silk. I happened to have some left over after leveling a few of my 80's so I pinged him and asked him what sounded like a fair price. I'm on an old server, so with inflation, it's not a-typical to see them got for 5-6 gold each, So, when he offered me 15 silver for all 8, I started laughing- then realized it was his first expereince in the game, and his main was the 25-something he'd pinged me on. After we talked about the server inflation and how costly they were, I ended up giving him the whole stack I had along with 250 gold; mostly because me made me laugh.

Apparently I made an impression, because about three to four months later, I got an ingame e-mail from him, with an epic sword attached (Sin-something?) along with a huge thank you for making his game fun eairly. I was blown away that he remembered. I still have the unbound sword in my bank- Just looking for a person to "pass it on" to.

Martin Fury: What would you have done? {WoW}

May 1st 2009 2:16PM Well, if that was the case, why even open the ticket? Wouldn't it have been faster, safer and easier to just delete the item? Personally, I think that 99% of players out there, even knowing it was “something they shouldn’t have” would have to at least test it to see if it’s real. I mean, and Epic SHIRT?!? Who knew such a thing even existed?

While Karatechop showed poor judgment, and not much foresight, I think everyone would do something like what he did; maybe just not at that scale.

The Martin Fury scandal: Karatechop reveals all {WoW}

Apr 30th 2009 7:08PM Well, you can make arguements both ways- I'm sure he knew deep down that he was risking his account it using the item, and he did it thinking that it was "okay" because Bizzard sent it; but thte fact remains, Bliz sent it to a cloth character, not a plate wearing class.

Funny thing is, he may get his account back... if you view is armory page, Bliz logged into Karatechop, removed the achievements and Ulduar gear he'd gotten.

He was in the wrong IMHO, but a perma-ban does seem harsh.

Twinking post patch 3.1 {WoW}

Apr 17th 2009 10:54AM Yes- I have a fiancée that lives with me.
I have a full-time job at a company that does actual good in the world
I have friends in and out of the game I see weekly
I golf on the weekends
and before the recession, I would surf and go four wheeling once a month

WoW is my hobby, and while you may spend 2-4 hours a night watching “Heroes” or “My Two Dads” or some other passive form of entertainment, I play WoW (with my fiancée, I may add, who has roughly the same amount of characters and achievements as me).

Sooooo where’s that facepalm? I’m not some 16 year-old kid that lives in his mom’s basement. As an older player, I just choose to spend my free time a bit more wisely than you do. Anyone can have the same amount of in-game success as I have, if it’s what you like to do. I spend mayby 3-4 hours a night, three to four nights a week, and maybe half a day on the weekends. Maybe you need to reevaluate your goals in Wow kid.

4 level 80's
full 25-man clear raiding on 3 of them
(already 1 boss into Uldar, dispite server issues)
3 characters over 70's
All 7 have epic flying
Over 130 Wintergrasp Marks (on one toon)
4 have dual specs
2 maxed fishing toons
2 maxed cooking toons
all maxed first-aid
all gathering professions maxed
all crafting maxed except jewelcarfting
and I have two twinks

to steel the old Army saying, "I do more in one toon that you do all week"

Twinking post patch 3.1 {WoW}

Apr 16th 2009 6:01PM So VERY typical and predictable. I’ll bet more than one of your leveling alts got owned in a BG, and you’re still seeing it as unfair.

Many of us who twink do it as way to relax from raiding (how else do you thing we get those BoA’s?), and most of these changes we called for to balance out the overpowered, grandfathered advantages some twinks had that others could not get. We got more that we bargained for, but we’ll continue to destroy your leveling alts whenever we see them. I, like many twinks, have several 80’s and do spend some time in BG’s and WG. Your ignorance and closed-minded mentality are just like those who thought the world was flat. If you ask 10 twinks why they do it, you’ll likely get 10 different responses, but they’ll all have one thread in common: fun.
