Age of Empires Online hits Steam {Joystiq}

Mar 29th 2012 11:00AM Getting items from boxes and quests that require premium content (to unlock) while playing free version is kind of a slap in the face.

but I can see why they did it, because I makes me want to buy it to use it. :\

The Daily Grind: What would make you cancel a pre-order? {Massively}

Mar 23rd 2012 1:16PM I cancelled TERA pre-order because after two CBTs, the game wasn't for me.

I SHOULD HAVE cancelled my SWToR pre-order but I was actually enjoying the pre-release gameplay. It wasn't till after 2 weeks the game went live, was it stale and a step backwards for "NEXT GEN MMO" (I'd rather play TBC)

If I pre-order a game, I'm pretty excited for it and I don't think I would ever cancel a pre-order without at least trying it first.

Torchlight team remains strong in face of Diablo 3 {Joystiq}

Mar 19th 2012 11:25AM I can see Torchlight 2 being played more often at LAN parties than Diablo 3 (because more players during co-op and offline/LAN mode)

The Daily Grind: Have media impressions affected your excitement level for Guild Wars 2? {Massively}

Feb 21st 2012 11:37AM I only played GW1 for a little bit. A LONG time ago during their open beta and then I bought the game during the Steam Christmas sale (but only put less than 3 hours since). So I'm not a big fan of the game (but I like the company and their ideals for the franchise).

I've been excited for GW2 for quiet sometime now. I watched as many videos from the media weekend as I could get my hands on, and it made me more excited.

As many others, I felt burned by the SWTOR "debacle", so I feel a little untrustworthy towards new MMOs (didn't stop me from jumping on the TERA bandwagon. OH BOY)

But unlike 90% of the MMOs out there, I don't have to worry that much about GW2 being "bad" or not. With games like SWTOR / TERA, gamers have to worry about "Do I like this game enough to pay $XX a month to keep playing it?". GW2 doesn't have that (major) factor.

So far, everything I've seen from them (so far) is WORTH the box value they're going to ask for. (WvW videos from this weekend really sealed the deal for me)
And if it "bad" at release, I can drop it and pick it up later, without having to pay another $XX monthly fee.

The Daily Grind: Did you participate in TERA's first beta weekend? {Massively}

Feb 13th 2012 12:49PM @DerpMchurson The game has gotten a large following in both 4chan and reddit communities. The only game, where every race, is a Troll.

Feb 13th 2012 12:21PM Once the novelty of action based combat wears off, what's left for the game? It's pretty... and then?

Feb 13th 2012 11:30AM I got luke warm feelings toward it. (Played a low level Slayer and a almost capped Mystic)

While the positives range from amazing graphics, "fun" combat, great built-in UI features, gathering perks, controller support, and large community...

it does have many downfalls.
- Combat did have some major fall backs. Sometimes it felt clunky. Without chaining skills, I would find myself spamming skills because sometimes it wouldn't allow me to do anything until the long animation cycle finished.
- No pet system. To control my "pets", my mystic had two buttons: Attack and Stop. Even my tank pet would last 10 minutes, it didn't have any separate UI window to show me it's health or any of it's abilities (which it has none). Not to mention, it would agro everything everywhere when I was on my horse and it ran behind me.
- Problem with no factions, EVERYONE STARTS OFF AT THE SAME PLACE. Sure, there are a bunch of "Channels" you could move to, but it feels like the entire game is a bottleneck as everyone follows the same path. The common joke during CBT1 was waiting in line to kill named mobs. Some of them were actually part of the story line quest, so you had to bite your lip and do it.
- It reeks of Korean MMO. Some people might love it, but it just puts me off. Just a personal preference.

I never got to play in a full group or do dungeons (or any other capped level fun), so all these gripes could be small stuff, compared to the whole game.

Slayer was pretty fun! Definitively going to give that another play through.
Mystic was okay. Seemed pretty easy, I never really had to dodge anything. (AoE burn down mobs, heal + mana infusion)

Forgetting to hit the "Need" button {WoW}

Apr 24th 2009 2:35PM Unless specific rules are in place on loot, I would say passing on loot that you need is stupid.

Also, if I join a 5man pug where it's set to Master Looter, it's a sign that someone doesn't want to play fair and it's a good idea to leave group.
