Patch 3.3 PTR: Warlock pets bite back {WoW}

Oct 9th 2009 1:21PM The 3.3 patch notes have me conflicted. Destro has been my spec of choice since lvl 60 and even though the pvp conflag nerf was bound to happen, it seems strange to nerf it in pve as well. Locks aren't doing so hot on the top end of gear these days, even with destro being the "OP" pve spec.

On the other hand, demonology is getting exactly the love it needs to be a fully viable dmg and utility tree. I'm happy to bring that utility to the raid and will surely enjoy immolation aura and spamming soulfires, but the rotation just doesn't have the same sense of urgency that destro does.

Blood Pact: The hidden power of demonology {WoW}

Oct 5th 2009 1:01PM Excellent article, I will happily redirect guildies here when they get huffy and puffy about me going demonology for progression fights that we're having non-enrage timer related issues with.

Also good to know the 10% ability buff from the Tier 9 applies to felguard melee, I never got around to testing it myself.

Blood Pact: A new Lock in town {WoW}

Sep 14th 2009 12:41PM Welcome! I got all bouncy-happy when I saw a new Blood Pact. Well, as bouncy-happy as a warlock ever gets.

Looking forward to a more specific post now that we've had some catch-up.

Breakfast Topic: Most emotional boss encounter? {WoW}

Sep 1st 2009 12:44PM Looking back I can say without a doubt that Nef was the most emotional boss fight for me. Our horde guild had decided to reroll alliance on another server a little while after BWL came out. We started from scratch, leveled up, hit ZG, from our first Lucifron kill to our first Nef pull was a grand total of 3 months.... and we one shot him. No wipes, no learning, 4 warlock class calls, perfectly executed. win.

It was two weeks of attempts before we downed him again, but man, nothing in game since has beat that feeling.

New Halloween masks point to a new playable race? {WoW}

Jul 17th 2009 6:11PM Kids these days have no appreciation for art. Well done sir.

Blood Pact: Of spells and bad metaphors {WoW}

Jun 19th 2009 9:19PM Couple things:

Hellfire - Your group is wiping? Don't want to pay repairs? Life tap to 2% life, then hellfire to kill yourself for no durability loss. That of course assumes you aren't a warlock and therefor over the tanks threat so you die the second he/she does. Also, the mana efficiency is incredible, haven't needed that part of it since ROS, but worth keeping in mind.

Unending Breath - If you pvp, makes a great trash dispel

Demonic Circle is great, but a lot of people don't have much experience using it. Its pvp uses are obvious, if you just pve however, I would recommend putting it on your bar and try to find a place to drop it every raid boss fight, just to get used to it.

For PVE, I'd also add Shadowfury to the pariah spell list. A lot of people have traditionally skipped the talent point for pve, though less so now. On top of a decent dmg targetted aoe, the stun has a ton of uses. Everything from setting off some pre-placed SoC for a nice aoe burst to stunning all of the mobs on the tank so the healer has a second to heal them back up on a double pull.

Blood Pact: Return to the depths of the third tree! {WoW}

Jun 4th 2009 3:04PM There are a lot of opinions out there on the beginning of the destro rotation out there, but as someone that has raided destro from the day 3.0 dropped, this is what seems to work best for me:

Curse first, give the tank a sec to dump some aggro, they'll need it
Chaos Bolt, with a low cast time, it receives less from backdraft than incinerate, will also be up right before immolate ticks off
Conflagrate, some people have server lag, some don't, for me fluidity is important
Incinerates and begin your priority rotation

Another big thing for improving your dps is making sure you don't clip immolate, if you have to, use the end of your immolate to do maintenance activities like lifetapping or recursing before reapplying immolate.

Destro FTW!

World of Warcraft Patch 3.1.2 PTR Patch Notes {WoW}

Ok, the conflag nerf was completely needed after last patch, it never should have gone live... but it was still needed. In response to said nerf, blizz said they would find some way to increase destro's sustained dmg to make up for the burst nerf... PLEASE explain to me how a massive dmg nerf to two of your main spells and the massive spell haste loss from only being able to conflag once per immolate accomplishes this? Oh, they do it by buffing the non-scaling bonus incinerate gets? AWESOME, sign me up. They could AT LEAST learn their lesson from DK's and make the bonus from immolate on incinerate percentage based rather than static.

Nerd rage over, but really, the urge to switch over to my DK tank as my main gets stronger every patch. At least there's some intelligent design in that department.

Blood Pact: WTB Glyph of Haunt...anybody? {WoW}

Apr 20th 2009 3:08PM Srsly folks, now is the time to join us in destructionville! Although I'm actually a little miffed that they simplified the Destro rotation by moving Molten Core to Demonology. I was worried that the conflag nerf was going to bone my dps, but I'm still sitting pretty at the top of the charts and I suppose I didn't need 20k dmg conflagrates afterall.

In terms of glyphs, the only new lock glyph that had appeared on my server was Life Tap and is still running 500g each. Since my guild was all hokey for a lot of reasons last week, this will be our actual start in Ulduar so I don't mind too much. Now my real problem is figuring out which glyph to replace for life tap...

Tier 8 set bonuses hit the PTR {WoW}

Mar 19th 2009 12:38PM My god, the warlock bonuses don't suck! :D
