Dec 4th 2009 11:18AM Like damn Blizz. You draw my $15/mo direct. Like 24 hours of credit is anything but a nuisance.
Wish they would be a bit more creative.....
Game Carders get hr credits
Direct Draw get a prorated G or emblem/hr outage compensation
If my toons were drawing gold or emblems for every hour of outage, I sure a hell would not be too worried about how long the outage was for - toons are at least getting some benefit. Some may say this would ruin the in-game economies ... I say not nearly as much as the server being down does.
Nov 17th 2009 9:57AM I REALLY do not understand what the developers intend to achieve with seeking balance between the classes. Are we to expect one day that a Holy Paladin has equal chance in a 1-1 with a Blood DK?? Some may say that this is an unfair comparison one a healer the other DPS - I say it is balance. As a paying player (who has a Holy Paladin) why shouldn't I expect to be able to get HK's just as easily as a DK? (sorry to the DK's, using you as an example rather than trying to single you out :)). This gripe is as valid as any other QQ over balance that I have seen.
In reality, no I don't expect that. I recognize that as a healer my HK potential is tied to who I am working with. However, by understanding the weaknesses of the classes and knowing the stupidity of the 'average player - when coupled with a decent DPS - I can churn kills for as long as I want.
As an example, an AV battle is going on. Alliance will always have people that try to gun down to FWH as quickly as possible, without regard for what the main body is doing. Quite often you find them running alone or at best in pairs. They come across a Holy Paladin sitting in the middle of the road at FWGY. How many do you think go charging in thinking they have caught an AFK'er napping? The rogue and/or feral druid that are in stealth with the pally spring the ambush, quickly dispatch the player, and reset the trap. Now was this a case of imbalance or was it simply that someone got outplayed??
BG's used to be enjoyable prior to Arena. People would go in and treat it in a manner not dissimilar to a PUG PvE raid. There was a basic strat in place and people would work co-operatively to achieve objectives or respond to threats.
Since Arena came into play, BG's have generally turned into an assembly of chaos with most players running madly around, wildly tabbing to find the next target and focussed on what THEY need to do to get ... achievement. IMHO, BG's are no longer a matter of skill or gear - they are simply a case where the side with the least number of 'all about me' players in it -- wins!!
Oct 21st 2009 6:32PM I'll take two
Sep 8th 2009 8:32AM Hearing all the changes coming in Cataclysm, I hold some deep concerns as to how loot will be distributed in raids.
With Defense now gone, the item that the tank wants/needs is equally applicable to melee DPS as the desirable stats are now common. Add to that Reforging, where some crafters will be able to change the nature of an item completely - and I see a recipe for much disharmony.
To give an example:
You're the Loot Master on a PUG raid where a boss drops a 1H Sword (will use http://www.wowhead.com/?item=48701 as an example)
Immediately you would think that this is a caster/healer sword - but wait
Melee DPS looks at it and see's all the SP (I know it won't be there but just work with me here) that being reforged into Armor or Crit and all the Intel turning into Str or Agi. On a PvP server, can't forget some people looking to add a little Resil on there too!!
Now everyone in the raid that can use a 1H Sword is now looking at this seeing not what it is but what it could be. You're the Loot Master - how are you going to navigate this one without causing the raid into immediate meltdown.
Aug 25th 2009 10:09AM I only have one real question from this, who the hell is driving this damn bus?
Holy Pally's just recieved the nerf to Illumination (affecting our mana return) and Divine Intellect (our overall mana pool) with the supposed offset offerred in increased MP5 to gear. Now we are being told that in the next expansion, MP5 will be gone altogether. I am sure similar things have happened to other classes, but not really playing them - won't try to speak for them.
I smell more nerfs coming under this system as there will be huge amounts of QQ if mana regen is homogenized and some classes have abilities that allow for boosts in the mana return that other classes do not have. If they find a way to eliminate this, well why bother having multiple class healers at all??
Do the class developers at Blizz actually talk to each other? I am really glad that these guys are limited to game development and not something else like freight dispatching. From their track record we would expect to see a package from LA to NYC go via Alaska, Hawaii, and Guam and have 30% of its original size cut off because one delivery driver could not make it fit in the hole that he expected it to.
GJ Blizz ....
Mar 21st 2009 6:12PM There is so much that I have read here that just makes me laugh. People QQ'ing that a Ret can run up to them and pwn in 5 secs. Question I have is 'Why the hell were you standing still to let the pally pick you out and come after you' OR 'why didn't you see the Ret there and avoid him'. From most PvP I have seen the answer would be simple - it would be because the caster was too busy pwning some other player to be aware of what was coming their way.
PvP is not supposed to be a pwn fest, it is supposed to be about strategy against live, thinking targets. So what if a Ret can whip your ass, where was your situational awareness to set up the engagement in your favor, where was your support, where was your escape strategy? If the whole PvP process did not revolve around this then there would be 1v1 arena!!
Go ahead, nerf Ret pallies to the ground. One of two things will happen- either they will simply be buffed up again OR devs may look at balancing the field by nerfing some of the other classes to the ground. No player should ever advocate nerfing another class, this just encourages Dev that this is the way to do it and before to long their focus just might come your way.
Mar 17th 2009 9:26AM LOL .. I hear this one all the time about it being a group concensus on what would be good. Committee decisions rarely end up with what was intended.
A committee is formed to design the next generation of racehorse. Some members of the committee would like to see longer legs so that greater distance is covered per stride. Others would like to see fantastic endurance. Oh Oh .. a long neck to give an advantage in photo finish situations and wider hooves so that slow tracks are less of an effect.
What did the committee set out to design - a racehorse
What did the committee actually design - a camel
Stop tinkering with what works - fix what is broken. If it is too hard to design instances to challenge players as they stand now without nerfing them to the ground ... that is a really sad comment to the imagination of the developers.
Mar 9th 2009 9:58AM Oh ... and the achievements system - WHY???
Rather than calling them achievement points, they should be called 'Degree of boredom with the game'.
Mar 9th 2009 9:52AM Many people complained that Arena's were the source of all evil in BC because players were able to obtain equipment (primarily weapons) that equally if not excelled over the PvE options, without having to go through the raid process.
Well Blizz have fixed that problem, they created a new evil - BTPNTC!!
Bring back the distinct differences between classes, bring back the fights that could be tanked/DPS'd/healed better by one class than others, and bring back CC.
IMHO - CC was in itself a mechanic that defined a good raid over a bad one. Good CC that was planned out, implemented well, and maintained was a symbol of player ability (in both maintaining it and not breaking it). When CC were to break, a good raid had a chance of recovering - a bad one wiped.
In WotLK, there is a pretty simply process 'Run up to the boss, kill the adds, DPS the boss, and watch out for periodic AoE effects'. Sounds silly to be able to categorize the fights this way but to a large extent they all fit this description in a general sense. No wonder people are losing interest.
IMHO I think there would be one easy way to rekindle interest in the game, add a fourth talent tree to every class and allow for further diversity. Yes, go the completely opposite direction from BTPNTC. After all, talking about class really doesn't mean anything does it, 'lets bring the pally' what did I just say - bring a healer, a DPS, a tank? The game is played on spec not class. By adding a fourth talent tree and adding 'homognized' talents into it, a player could CHOOSE to be more like another class rather than be forced into it. Sponsor diversity rather than murder it.
