Dec 28th 2010 2:49PM Never read any of these books, but I'd love to start here.
Nov 3rd 2010 10:28PM Trolls really should get a wind serpent flight form.
And here's my 2c on why:
Darkspear trolls are often found in the company of reptiles. Their mount are raptors, they sell snakes as pets, and their shadow hunters summon cobras. According to Seer Janidi in Zabra'jin (who gives the quest Spirits of the Feralfen), the Darkspear consider the serpent to be a powerful spirit, but they disdain bird spirits as "weak, capricious, and best left to the Amani".

It really just makes the most sense. If they do have bird flight forms I'm going to be very disappointed. Wonder if I can complain at the next blizzcon wearing a spiffy colored shirt and get an npc named after me....
Sep 18th 2010 10:14PM Concerning the Triumph/Frost badge transfer to Justice Points:
If we saved up these badges would Justice points convert into stuff we can start purchasing for level 85 right when cata hits? The way Justice Points were described by the blues makes it sound so. I realize you might not have access to that stuff, yet, but I'm trying to figure out if I'd rather convert to a lower tier of badges for the money transfer or if the Justice Points will actually be useful.
Blue post describing Justice Points for reference:
Justice Points -- Low-tier, easier-to-get PVE points. Maximum cap to how many you can own, but no cap to how quickly you can earn them. Earned from most dungeons. (most like the current Emblem of Triumph)
Jul 6th 2010 6:21PM While this point was made rather vulgarly it is a very valid point. AoE tanking some mobs and CCing has been around since vanilla. TC, Swipe and Consecrate were all used in conjunction with CC. I personally find it a very fun aspect of tanking in trying to pull mobs away from CCed targets, CCing targets in the proper locations and judging my distances for the AoE.
Other dps classes in all likelihood won't stop using their usual aoe, anyway, so tanks should always be pulling mobs away from CCed targets. Is CC such a lost art that this simple concept isn't understood anymore?
As for your depth perception issues: It might just take practice. That's apart of learning the game and its tactics. If you're not sure, pull it further back. As long as you're not pulling it back into another group of mobs that can't hurt.
Jul 2nd 2010 12:28AM Stock up on Elixers of Water Walking. Even though damage breaks the effect it's still very useful. Nothing like chasing down a DK who thinks he's in the clear when he pops Path of Frost.
Jun 30th 2010 5:23PM Any tankadin using Seal of Wisdom can't hold threat against same or better geared dps. There's no way getting around it. This article makes a great point about it curing the problem but keeping a symptom. If you use the other tactics above in the article or in some of the above comments you'll be fine on mana AND still be able to hold aggro.
And I'm not talking about you can hold aggro on fresh 80s, I'm talking about icc25 geared locks spamming SoC, fury warriors whirlwinding, a hunter with misdirect on cooldown.
Also, I like tanking with a couple of holy items since it's my offspec. Helps me get hit a little bit more and have a higher mana pool for divine plea. Especially in violet hold, that place is the worst if the timing of divine plea is just not working out with the end of one portal and the spawning of another one.
Jun 26th 2010 6:59PM I've got a question regarding your mage spec guides that you most recently put out. In each one (Arcane, Frost and Fire) you list pros and cons of them. But in each spec you list, in some form or fashion, that a boring rotation is a con.
Are you saying that dpsing as a mage is boring? I'm just about to get my mage to 80 and it's been an absolute chore. So I decided to look these guides up to see what would be the most fun and from what I can tell the most fun things we ever get to do in combat is spellsteal.
Out of combat we can make portals and summon refreshment. You've listed a few other things here that are useful, but are they necessarily fun? Crowd control would be fun if it was used more than once or twice anymore. Random buffs aren't really that fun. Hitting one button every hour or keeping replenishment up aren't interesting.
What about the mage class is fun that I'm missing out on? I'd like to enjoy playing the class but so far nothing's been particularly interesting and I was pretty disappointed when I found guides that list every spec as having a boring rotation.
-Altaholic that just wants to understand how he can have fun with magery
(Don't make me list all the fun rotations warlocks have....)
Jun 26th 2010 2:43AM Having some macro troubles, wondered if anyone at wowinsider might be smooth with the /scripts to help me out:
I'm trying to make some of my buffs /yell /raid /pst certain things when I do them. For example when I do Divine Protection I want to announce it to the raid that I'm casting it or when I'm using Hand of Salvation on someone I want to /pst that I just used it on them.
Unfortunately I tend to spam these buttons a lot and the simple /raid /yell /whisper macros I've been using wind up spamming the people. Is there any kind of script macros I can use to only make them announce when the buffs actually go off and aren't prevented bec of GCD resetting or the cooldown on the buffs themselves not being ready?
Apr 19th 2010 2:59PM They've had far too many of those with the paladin ability. I'm sick of seeing rets yell that and think it's cute / original.
