Officers' Quarters: Cataclysm will reshape guilds {WoW}

Aug 31st 2009 3:09PM Atlantica Online has an interesting Guild crafting - points system that WOW could borrow some ideas from - such as guild points to buy resources, buffs, guild-crafted items, as well as multiple members working to craft items which then puts points into the guild back. WOW could try something similar for example: an Epic BOE leatherworking crafted item can only be crafted by 3 - 450 level leatherworkers all working on it together. Guilds could use a point system to create guild raid flasks that buff the group, guild food buffs, etc. I am anticipating good things.

Breakfast Topic: How has Battleground experience been working out for you? {WoW}

Aug 31st 2009 1:13PM I am using the BG-XP route on my alt -leatherworker/enchanter. I need to get him to 20 for the next level of profession - 150-225 and I loathe running the Barrens again so I have been running WSG - three or four per day and it is way more fun than Fizzlewig and Raptor Horns again.

I have a 67 DK that I might run some ABs with and see how much XP I can average. I will definately put him through the paces at 70 and beyond to get the push to 80. Plus I like the idea of going back and finishing the Northrend quests for double the gold.

On the twinks, so does that mean there are less of them than we all thought (hince not enough on consistently to get BGs going) or are a lot of them miffed about only getting to play with other twinks so they are not logging in or some combination of both?

Drama Mamas: Venting {WoW}

Aug 28th 2009 2:39PM Keep your raiding comments short and specific to the situation such as on Ignis - you might say "Pink is in the pot" and that is all - everyone should know what their job is and may be listening for in game cues to help their play - YES some people actually have game sounds turned on!!!

Also, it amazes me when we hang in vent, sometimes there can be 6-10 of us and no one is saying a word and everyone is fine with it. We talk when we need or want to say something (usually this is NOT during raids or instances) but then again it is usually just us guys if the girls join - of which we have about 9 in the guild, you can forget silence after that - no offense meant just facts.

Redefining MMOs: The rise of F2P {Massively}

Aug 25th 2009 2:33PM There are some quality F2P games out there one being my previous game of choice Silkroad Online prior to being overun by bots and Joymax having a complete lack of concern or an ability to offer support. I haven't played Atlantica Online in about 6 months but it too was in my opinion a quality game I never spent a dime in. I have tried many others and have been a beta tester for quite a few. A lot should go the way of the recycle bin but there are others that offer quite a decent amount of game play. What I usually find lacking in all of them is support.

My kids are enjoying FreeRealms and while they could care less about opening up extra jobs (they are 6 and 9y/o) I think a $5 fee is reasonable. I have foregone F2P at the moment and am enjoying the world of Azeroth every minute I log in.

Breakfast Topic: Missing Professions? {WoW}

Jul 17th 2009 1:39PM Definate agreement with the following adds - and ones i was thinking of before I read through all the comments and they were all mentioned.

Woodworking - yes this would be a now thing
Gardener - very nice - growing herbs and stuff - uh yeah I would
Zookeeper which I was going to call StableMaster - could tame or raise certain pets either combat or non-combat that could be purchased as well as training your current pets new skills that they would have to first learn by leveling up
Carpenters/Builders/Masonary whatever else would possibly be needed if a housing system was implemented
Metalurgy - an extension of mining/alchemy or something where you can create all kinds of metals for weapons and armor, engineering parts, ammo, etc

Why leveling will always be important to WoW {WoW}

Jul 17th 2009 1:08PM I leveled at an even pace, probably somewhat slower than many but faster than others. I enjoy the journey not necessary the end prize (capped toon). I did a lot of things fishing 10 casts past every pond I happened by = fishing 450 at cap. I cooked and searched for recipes, I explored and explored (still need EK to finish my Explorer title), I played the AH - 10k gold recently a personal goal, I went on gathering runs - mining 450. I just played and enjoyed every minute of it.

I still enjoy every minute of it at 80. I am in a great guild so we have plenty of raiding and instances going on. I have a small group of puggers I hooked up with in BC and we still get together and run 5-mans or join up in vanilla larger raids, I am going back now and QUESTING ....yes questing every zone for those I missed to get the achieves only now it is much easier to complete the quests = Loremaster here I come. I solo instances, run alt lower guildies through, I go on mining runs (Titanium hello!!!!), I cook and fish daily, I do dailies, I play on the AH, I grind mobs (for fun) farming whatever strikes my fancy today. Man there is as much fun going on at 80 as there was at 8 and 28 and 48 for me.

I like some of the leveling faster implementations upcoming and I have a small group of alts waiting. My DK is my herbalist and inscriptionist and mainly is a money maker. I don't have a clue how to play him and he is still 58 but when I do get to an area herbing and the mobs are xp-efficient, I usually smash 1,2,3,4 rinse repeat - dead. It actually is fun for a change since i am an 80 rogue and I have way too many talents/skills, cd, and instance specific things to think about when fighting that smash 4 buttons every once in a while is a nice change. Time is Money: Capitalizing on Patch 3.2 {WoW}

Jul 15th 2009 4:06PM So, I am confused by the twink references and maybe I need to go back and re-read the patch notes, but aren't twinks only going to be allowed to turn off xp gains in BGs because BGs are now going to be implemented with XP gain capability?

So how would a 9 twink be able to run a dungeon to get more twink gear without fear of leveling up? I don't remember reading that you could turn off xp gains completely in all game situations but mabye I missed that.

The Care and Feeding of Warriors: Small changes {WoW}

Jul 2nd 2009 4:51PM As a Rogue my first point of business before every pull if putting a ToT on the tank (be him/her a druid, pally, warrior, don't care I put a ToT and especially for an aoe group my goal is get up right beside tank ToT and then FoK twice which should grab all mobs within 8-10 yards - throw all that aggro on the tank and give him/her all the time to get the aoes in going forward - then I just spank while he/she tanks. Works for us all the time. I may pick up a lone mob and aggro that but if I am smart I will ToT (it has a very short CD) on the MT or OT again and that mob will walk right on by me heading for the tank and I spank his booty all the way.

Breakfast Topic: Is Blizzard doing faction change the right way? {WoW}

Jul 2nd 2009 12:44PM Meh, an aspect of the game that I won't consider .......I chose my faction, my race, my class, and my professions in Feb09 (first time in WoW ever) I capped a few weeks back so I am having fun playing the game - this is a non-issue for me and from what I read in chat for most all of my guild members except for a few random alts some want to bring over.

But on the surface, I think it is kind of ............... don't want to stay wrong but just doesn't sit well with me and my limited time in the game.

Twinked-out NPCs in patch 3.2 thrill twinks {WoW}

Jun 25th 2009 5:07PM Yes a twink can not turn off xp in BG and they will gain XP until they level out of that bracket. It might take them a while but as JKW said above the gankery wouldn't last terribly long.
