Drama Mamas: Suicide threats {WoW}

Mar 19th 2010 11:23AM This kind of social game absolutely has its underbelly. Everyone eventually comes across another player who is battling demons and will seek out others to get their pain out into the universe.

Suicide is a selfish act. However, those who feel there is no other option are not in their right state of mind. They don't know their actions are selfish. Most feel that their doing their family and so-called friends a favor by relieving them of the burden they think they've become. Or the pain of coping is so great it's the only way to end it.

The article is a reminder that there are all kinds of motivations for playing a social game like WoW and a safe advice on how you might handle a situation like this. It's happened to me which means it's probably happened to a lot of people.

Why you don't have freedom of speech in WoW {WoW}

Dec 14th 2009 9:51PM Uhm. What drama? Seriously...how many people do you think actually read the forums, read wow.com and play compared to those of us who simply play? I read wow.com a couple of times a week and the only thing that interests me are in relation to the actual game.

It seems you're spending an awful lot of time on a situation that the general community isn't even aware of. Most people play the game. Most people don't even know what Ghostcrawler is. Or your blog for that matter. I think this little cluster of bloggers, one developer (i assume) and an inconsequential number of Warcraft players is taking up way too time regarding some forum issue.

I guess this is nerd rage at its finest or something?

Can you get off your friggin soapbox about free speech and all that garbage and move on to the new content, changes in classes, etc? This whole situation should be under Guild Drama.

Sheesh

Patch 3.3 known issues {WoW}

Dec 9th 2009 1:37PM In regard to Halls of Reflection bug - where you automatically d/c going up the ramp to get the last loot...we found a way to get it.

We had a priest buff one of us with levitate - we were able to float up the stairs and get the loot. You still d/c trying to run back down the stairs and the portal to get you to Dal on the ship didn't work right but hell, we got to the loot!

Brief launcher update {WoW}

Nov 13th 2009 12:24AM I lost my Skelly from Day of the dead. That is a serious issue :(

Oct 19th 2009 3:05PM I'm glad you clarified that. I re-read the article thinking I had missunderstood the entire thing.

Officers' Quarters: Ragequit fallout {WoW}

Oct 5th 2009 1:46PM Wow you really are bending over to these players who screwed you. Why are you trying to bargain with people who were disrespectful in the first place? You even offered to punish yourself. Why? They were unkind and just as emo as you - but far more so...they were vindictive. And youre giving them ample opportunity to keep sticking it to you.

You leaving the guild did not cause its demise, it was the last straw. There were clearly signs of unrest and unhappy guildies long before you left. The murmuring and complaining to someone other than you....they were starting a coux. You just cut them off at the pass before they could get there.

You went with your gut and although the timing sucked - I dont think it was the wrong decision. They were unhappy with the leadership. They didn't handle it very well but most people dont in life.

Stop begging for forgiveness for the love of god - you didnt kill a kitten. You got pissed off with good reason and you overreacted. Big deal. There will be a handful of ex-guildies that you will remain friends with, you will run with them and you will find a new home and look back on this as a good learning experience.

You need to get over it and move on - clearly, they all have.

Study: Playing in a guild actually lowers stress {WoW}

Sep 14th 2009 3:52PM Psh this study didnt include my progression guild. More stress than some of my real life job issues. Makes me question why I'm so selfish - to stay in such a high stress environment that i PAY for just to simply see the latest content or get the newest gear.

Grief to dollar ratio may not be worth it...something I have questioned more and more this last patch.

Comment to win some Saturday night swag {WoW}

Aug 29th 2009 10:01PM I never win trinkets in the raids. Can I win them outside of the virtual world...of warcraft?
