Profanity filters, homophobic slurs, and Blizzard's shaky relationship with the LGBT community {WoW}

Jan 25th 2012 9:16AM I've always thought this was silly as hell. Tangentially related, of all things 'reefer' is chat-filtered. Reefer. A word that I don't think ANYONE uses anymore except in jest. I never realized that 'faggot' wasn't filtered.

I seriously think that someone at blizzard was smoking 'reefer' when they thought up the chat filter.

2012 Predictions for Blizzard: Social features, pandas, and summertime {WoW}

Jan 6th 2012 2:13PM My prediction (hope)?

Since Pandas will have an Alliance/Horde choice, there will be a few factions splitting off from the Horde/Alliance. Mists of Pandaria will be less about race and more about a war of Nations and ideologies.

There's still a great schism in the Horde, and I don't doubt there's a great deal of Tauren out there who will leave. I see a splinter group of Tauren joining the Alliance to directly oppose Garrosh. Vol'jin's already shown he will work with the Alliance.

With the Alliance, we have the Dark Iron dwarves, a group that seems like it would favour the conquering / militaristic society of the horde. I can see some gnomes going Horde just to show 'we're better than goblins'

What I WISH?

cross-faction partying/guilding. EQ2 can do it and keep the hostilities strong. Other games can do it.

Dec 27th 2011 11:39AM Q4theQ. A silly one, but still.

When do we get to see an absolutely-silly-adorable picture of Sacco's Corgi?

The Queue: Shoulder on {WoW}

Dec 23rd 2011 4:13PM I demand a pic of Sacco's corgi! Make it the Queue Pic! If you don't, I won't have a happy Yule!. The WoW corgi is cute too though.

Breakfast Topic: What do you want from 5-man content? {WoW}

Nov 15th 2011 12:53AM Me? I'd like them to do something like Rift does with their 5-man content. Their heroics (known as 'expert') take the harder dungeon theme one step further. Not only is gear better, but the heroic dungeons are sometimes 2x as long, with new areas and as many as 3-4 more bosses. It's one of the biggest failings of going into heroics in WoW that aside from new mechanics and gear... there's nothing ELSE that's new.

BlizzCon 2011: Dungeons and Raids information {WoW}

Oct 21st 2011 7:35PM Okay, what I can't figure out is this : Does 9 new dungeons with 6 of them on panderia itself and 3 heroic versions of old dungeons mean.... 9 heroics with only 6 new dungeons, or is it 9 dungeons + 3 old world heroics? It's not exactly clear... some are saying one, some are saying the other.

If it's only 9 heroics, then boooo... that's LESS new dungeons than Cata. If it's 9 dungeons and a total of 12 heroics? mmm, yay!

The Lawbringer: The relationship between Blizzard and PayPal {WoW}

Sep 17th 2011 9:21AM Ah, Robert? Fellow Canuck here.

CIBC now has a VISA Debit card that uses the US / worldwide system of the VISA network to withdraw from your bank account rather than your credit card. I'm guessing that they finally realized that not having a VISA debit system was insanely stupid when even third-world countries often used VISA debit.

I use the thing to have money taken directly from my bank account and don't use paypal for my sub anymore. Same with LOTRO. Have bought stuff from and the same way. Love the thing.

Don't know about RBC/Scotia/BMO/TD Canada Trust though...

(hop on political soapbox)
now, if only people in this country would also realize that many third-world countries have better and cheaper internet infrastructures... (hop off soapbox)

The Queue: Firelands FAQ {WoW}

Jun 28th 2011 11:42AM I'm thinking that dear old Deathwing is in Northeron. Look on your map... there's a section of it that's completely unused in Eastern Kingdoms, above the Plaguelands. Try to fly there and you hit an invisible wall.

Considering 'Lord Prestor' said he came from Northeron... it kind of makes sense. I'll bet the zone opens for dailies in the 'Deathwing Patch' like the Firelands daily zone is opening for this one.

Breakfast Topic: Azerothian technology {WoW}

Jun 16th 2011 8:40AM I love the steampunk feel, more the Gnomish, which is whimsical and pretty, than the Goblins, which feel sleazy and ugly. Seriously... I hated the Goblin starter zone so much I couldn't finish it.

The steampunk genre is far too underrepresented... and WoW, really is Steampunk Fantasy. Airships, gadgets, titan tech, basic airplanes, cannons, guns... all of it just adds to it. That steampunk feel is why I love the game, because it's quite unusual.

Hmm... I have an idea for a breakfast topic.... "What starting zone do you HATE?" or, to expand it, "Which zone do you hate, period."
