May 24th 2011 5:52PM Why not just sell them in stacks of 3s on days when they are the JC daily?

Reader UI of the Week: Germany represents with Viday's UI {WoW}

May 24th 2011 5:51PM I had moved everything to the bottom for a while, but found it was creating a certain problem in PvP: I was just tunnel-visioning the bottom of my screen. In PvP, this is very bad because you miss all the stuff going on around you and get killed pretty quick.

Now, I've reverted to a UI with more stuff spread out and that keeps me from focusing in one place. Works like a charm!

Breakfast Topic: Has your perspective of Azeroth changed over time? {WoW}

May 22nd 2011 11:11PM My first sight of the game was Tirisfal. It was so scary, but so fascinating on my friend's computer, while he leveled First Aid on his warlock, which seemed so difficult, so involving. I remember as a level 7 troll mage tailor, I travelled by zeppelin in early TBC to Tirisfal. The zeppelin ride was crazy enough, but the reason I had come to Tirisfal was to get Linen Cloth for tailoring. I ran along the fence by the Brill graveyard north towards the gnolls.

The fence itself has ingrained itself in my memory. I remember my inability to pass it, the sense of frustration, and the excitement when I found a spot in the fence I could leap over. I died to the gnolls a few times, got acquainted with the graveyard. Everything really felt so distant, so magical.

It's true: maps trivialize things. If you can't see how far it is between places, there's still so much mystery and excitement. I still scrolled my mouse over road signs until I was 70, back when it was the cap. I wanted to know what direction to go in to get to Mirage Raceway, or Camp Mojache, or Shadowprey Village, or The fuckin' Den, when I wound up in Ratchet at level 3 and trekked all the way to Orgrimmar. I actually got to Razor Hill and said to myself, "I'm not going to make it back. I guess I will just kill scorpions here to level now."

What might have made it more interesting would have been just a minimap but big maps in settlements, like in Pokemon Centres before you had Fly. You can see the whole zone only there, but you know where stuff is when you go around with your minimap circle.

Ah, nostalgia.

Officers' Quarters: Wrath of the orange stick {WoW}

May 16th 2011 5:51PM Sigh, I lust for this thing. For so long, I have wanted to get a sweet legendary staff. It's fabulous!

Unfortunately, Archimonde-US Horde-side is next to impossible to find a good weekend raiding guild on - every attempt that seems to go so well falls apart after a week or two.

Guess I'll be waiting a long time before I can get myself one of these, if ever.

Sunday Morning Funnies: Hipsters {WoW}

May 15th 2011 3:01PM The DLC where the Horde version of Donald is a Blood Elf is hysterical. I stared at his chin for 15 seconds laughing.

WoW Archivist: World of Warcraft patch 1.1 {WoW}

May 10th 2011 8:16PM Hahaha, Detect Magic. Oh god, I remember the TBC patch where they let everyone see what buffs targets actually had up. That was nuts.

Breakfast Topic: Who is your unsung Cataclysm hero? {WoW}

May 8th 2011 2:52PM Hobart Grapplehammer and Assistant Greely, without a doubt. I didn't really know what to think of them at Lost Isles, but when I found them later on my main before going to Twilight Highlands, it made my day.

Honestly, I love everything about the quests before Twi-Hi.

The Queue: The cool guys {WoW}

May 8th 2011 1:05PM Is that Tauren wearing a toga? The night elf in the pink hoodie is awesome too.

May 7th 2011 6:20PM I imagined that being said by Fabienne from Pulp Fiction, and it made it so much better.

"Pot bellies are sexy."

Apr 30th 2011 2:05PM I want Thrall to be played by Zack Galifianakis.
