15 Minutes of Fame: When the guild family is literally all family {WoW}

Jun 16th 2010 7:23AM Almost 10 years ago, my mom, who lives about 250km (~155 miles) away from me, convinced me to to add her on yahoo messenger. While the 1st hour was pretty much ok ...after that 1 hour.. well.. i could'nt even work because a messenger window was keep popping up on my screen.. (yeah.. was mom)and from just a bit annoying .. well.. it became frustrating to not be able to open messenger because, either if my status was online or offline, my mom was sending me messages every single minute of the day..
I just made a new account, and never added again my mom.
While this has nothing to do with WoW, i still remember that when some member of my family try to imply in what i do on internet, including when playing WoW.
My wife hates the game.. so no chance to convince her playing.
My 3 years old son loves to fly my tauren druid all over around Northrend, and also to run with my DK riding the skeleton horse on water while Path of Frost is on. But when it comes to actualy playing the game, he gets bored in 1 minute. However, we spend a lot of time together just exploring the game. And he's the only that i really love to play this game with.
While i appreciate the way the family you presented here managed to stay a family and not to suffocate eachother.. well...i play wow just as an escape from everyday work routine, to clear my toughts or just to forget about everything, good or bad, at last a few minutes everyday, to relax and, of course, because i like the game and my son likes it too :)
I don't wanna my family to ruin it...
That's just me, and what works for me, doesn't mean it gotta work for others too.

Shifting Perspectives: Don't be a failkin, page 2 {WoW}

Jun 7th 2010 3:58AM After a long break in playing my moonkin, a few months ago i decided to start play it again. I don't raid yet (lacking time for that), but i do a lot of heroics using the LFG system.
First run was Culling of Stratholme, and my Typhoon was fun to use on all those low-life zombies around there, however, on the boss fight the tank asked me:
"Is there really such a big damage plus in using typhoon all the time? If is not, can you please stop using it?" .. And, i stopped using it. Not right away, because, used to have it in my rotations, i accidentally hit the Typhoon binded key on more time... After that, i just removed it from my key bindings until we finished the instance.
After that, Typhoon glyph became a must have.
As for the emergency concern, well.. Entangling Roots (and in very extremely rare situations, Cyclon ) is the best. Or, if you are a tauren (like me) you can War Stomp the mobs.
I still keep Off-Healing in almost every single heroic instance and also Innervate-ing the healers if they go oom.
I find it hard to resist not using Starfall on every single CD when other players in group pop-up recount statistics on theyr DPS after every single pack of mobs.It feels bad when i see myself last on the dps, even if i know i can be first, but i don't wanna be an jerk and ninja-pull all instance.
I usually have around 3,5k-4k DPS without using starfall, and 6k-7k when using it, so.. yes .. the damage boost is huge.
About the macros.. well.. i don't have any. I just enjoy the classical action bar (without the gryphons) and i love my key mapping.

Breakfast Topic: We are the Horde {WoW}

May 6th 2010 8:12AM "For the Horde! "

Ah.. wth.. "For the Ally too!"

Started as Alliance .. 6 months , switched to Horde .. and stayed there for the last . 3 years . almost 4 ..
One think i love and loved from the begining about horde is ... well.. they rally have fun playing! In 6 months as Alliance, had not even 10 minutes of fun..
Recently i created an Draenei paladin .. trying the lly side again... reached lvl 44 ... and damn sooooo boring... nothing funny hapening ..
I don't know why.. i thought is just me.. but in my guild i have 4 peoples that already switched to horde.. and also 2 real life friends that did the same...
So ...maybe isn't just me .. maybe Alliance just isn't funny to play ? I just hope that me and my friends are just an isolated case of.. ow to say it.. unlucky Alliance players...

Breakfast Topic: When is it too much WoW? {WoW}

Jan 4th 2010 2:58AM Right now i'm seriously thinking to just stop playing wow completelly and just spend my free time with my son.
Not that hard, if i'm thinking that after almost 5 years of playing the current content even if it is challenging, it is not really so pleasant anylonger least not for me. I manage to just get bored more and more every day. I'm not a hardcore player, i did not completed all game content.. but still.. there's no joy anylonger in playing.
And if there's no joy in playing a game, the purpose of that game is failing. At east from this point of view. The only thing that remains is the challenge. But even that is kinda .. no longer challenging.. just thinking that i'm an 30 years old man that plays a game that maybe is a bit challenging and very fun for a 12 years old player...
Right now i just lvl-up some of my alts.... waiting to have a funny content to play again.
Untill than.. no ideea. Maybe other games. Or maybe just quit wow.

Breakfast Topic: Why Blizzard should make authenticators mandatory on accounts {WoW}

Sep 14th 2009 5:01AM Putting an authenticator inside the Cataclysm Pack (that will contain also the CD/DVD's ) is probabbly the best solution that Blizzard may come with ( Adam, you should ask credit for this idea actually :) ).
I, for example, i'm not willing to change my mobile phone and also not to activate the internet service for my mobile phone (forcing me to pay 3 Euro monthly for the next 2 years, since my phone company doesn't give any other possibility, at this moment) just to download the Mobile Authenticator Software.
The other option is to buy an Authenticator from the Blizzard Online Store.However, paying about 30 Euro for shipping (when the authenticator price is 6 Euro) is'nt such a pleasant option.
In terms of costs, at least for me, having an authenticator in this moment is too expensive.
So, if Blizzard will deliver with the Cataclysm CD/DVD's Pack also an Authenticator, this would be great.

Breakfast Topic: Can you have too many alts? {WoW}

Jul 22nd 2009 9:46AM Hehe .. and i was thinking i have too many alts with 1 of each class both ally and horde. basically 20 toons on 2 different servers. and a few other DK's i've made to speak and play with friends i have on different realms.
Ofcourse, the level my alts are isn't 80 yet.
One main tauren druid( chosen because i liked the complexity of the class, and i still do ) at lvl 80 , an DK lvl 74 and the rest are all below lvl 62. However, is fun to play different characters in defferent styles :)
However, i never hit the cap so far.
..and.. i also deletet one lvl 41 NE Druid on Shadowmoon EU server after everyone else i knew transfered and the server became russian.

WoW, Casually: Playing with your preschooler {WoW}

Jul 16th 2009 4:27AM @KilgoreTrout XL says:
Ethnocentrism is the tendency to believe that one's own race or ethnic group is the most important and that some or all aspects of its culture are superior to those of other groups.

My comment in my opinion was actually an anti-ethnocentristic one. If i would've been ethnocentrisitc i would have asked for only studies made by a certain ethnicity. I actualy asked to see not only studies made by americans. So.. how this in your opinion makes me be ethnocentristic ? .. Well.. didn't know that asking some diversity in opinions based on different nations views is gonna offend someone that much.
Please, before using such big words, take a look at they actual signification. Ofcourse, is your right to see thing differently.

My prejudice is only against the cult of "America and americans are always right".
So.. if you wanna asshole me for that, than just go ahead.

WoW, Casually: Playing with your preschooler {WoW}

Jul 15th 2009 4:33AM Well, not picking on americans ( and since you named an american book, i assume you are one) , but you guys have the usual attitude of "making a mosquito as big as an donkey" .
So..Shut Up please. Unless you can prove your affirmations. And in that case, i'll personally apologies for this comment to you.

Some hints on my comment:

When you have no ideea what you'r talking about ( sepaking generaly, not directed to you Disanidi ) you always say "Studies say that and that.."
If you wanna provide some usefull information( and this time i ment you, Disanidi ) , then say "The study writen by , published by the in the year .... ecc ( you got the idea) ". Provide some links to it, do some reasearch on different opinions on that study from other scientist ( and not opinions from televison , witch is usually overrated crap).

And please, don't copy/paste me links with studies made by some unknown american scientists. I wanna see links with studies made by some scintists beloging to other nations too. Because you guys (yes, you, americans ) also forget that sometimes are some other nations in this world with different life styles and different way of seeing things.

I apologies if my comment offended someone and because it seem so anti-americans. I'm in no way a racist or fascist or .. whatever you wanna call it. I just wanna evidentiate that generaly speaking, americans ( and not only) do tend to take all for granted just because "They say so". Prove your affirmations, please.

WoW, Casually: Playing with your preschooler {WoW}

Jul 15th 2009 4:09AM My son is 2 years and (almost) 4 months old now.. He's spending some times with his grandparents now, taking some nice fresh air by the sea. But in a month i'll bring him back home and my computer will become again his favorite place to press buttons ( the DVD eject button is his favorite so far :) ).
Now, seeing this article.. i just wonder how long should i wait before trying to learn him to use a mouse and few keys on the keyboard?
Should i just start trying now ? Or better wait till he will reach the age of at least 3 years ?

Shifting Perspectives: Why (or why not) to play a Druid, part 2 {WoW}

Jul 10th 2009 9:03AM Speaking of warlocks wearing leather, i remeber that too.. ( if i'm wrong, then is already a group illusion :P ) ..
Anyway.. before the Wotlk came out.. a twink rogue asked me to put [item] Cobrahide Leg Armor [/item] on a pair of cloth pants .. i was like ..what the @#*$ is that ?! .. then i saw the pants.. that had loads of stamina bonus.. even so.. that guy was the only rogue wearing cloth pants in more than 5 years since i play this game..
